Oh man, I'll never forget watching this video as a kid and loving it. This was back when music was just fun and didn't take itself too seriously. I miss the 80's.
I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, but I too, miss the 80's because as I was in my 20's, as you said, the music wasn't serious. The music was cool & also the Rap music was funny with Run DMC's, "You be illin' and You Talk Too Much," not like the craziness in the evolution of the music playing now. Much of it, I really have a tough time listening to! Music now, to me, lacks heart, soul, passion & substance. 😢
"There's only one 'thing' I can do...Rocket to you!" Basically, don't call me for anything else unless it's physical...That's literally one of the lyrics.
So do I ! I was 10 in 1986 when Crush on you came out and 12 when this jam came out. The Unsung episode brought back alot of my childhood memories. I was laughing and shedded a tear while watching it. This was MY group! I still play their music on Spotify.

Well that's kinda difficult 'cause I like the 70s and the 80s. I think we can't pit the 70s music against the 80s, as they are completely different genres. But there were so many great 80s songs!
Tears running down my face, Damn i love the Jets, one of the greatest groups of ALL TIME. I MISS THE HELL OUT OF THE 80'S. MOANA & ELIZABETH are the reason why i'm married to a beautiful Pacific Islander today.
I LOVE THE JETS! They were such a great group and I loved all of their music! So sad things didn't work out for them. The 1980s & 90s had some of the best music!
Of course it didn’t work out for them. They were exploited. Their fame skyrocketed to such heights same goes with their record sales but they were practically slaves for the recording company. They went unpaid for months despite sleepless nights for engagements and when payday came…… they all had to divide $30,000 (I thinks that was what the documentary said or maybe lower) after all those unpaid months. Their parents were struggling with their own jobs just so that the group could at least eat some cereals everyday. Their group wasn’t going to work because the upper management of the recording company who hired them were the devils.
No wonder they wanted to put him front and center...he “had the look” per the line from the UnSung documentary. And they were oh so right-he was always by FAR the hottest Jet brother. I could see that when their first video popped up on MTV, and always looked for him in subsequent videos and photo spreads. He was 🔥.
LynRuiz I think this person is implying that Haini was the lead singer on this particular song. I think anybody who grew up on The Jets music knows that Elizabeth was undoubtedly the lead singer of the group but The Jets’s producer and their songwriter didn’t want her singing a song like this due to her being so young at the time (she was only 14) and was afraid of the potential negativity that they would’ve probably received so Haini who was 18 was given the role. Because this song was a big hit for The Jets, Haini started being in front more with Elizabeth, with Elizabeth still being the focal point of the group of course

This is quintessential pop music. If you want a candy bop, it doesn't get better than this. I remember the summer of 1987, being young and free, and going to the beach everyday. Much more innocent of a time! Right after this NWA Gangster rap, and 2Live Crew got very popular, and everything changed.
Maan I completely forgot about this song!!! This was one of the Jets HITTERS that stayed in your head cause of the catchy hook.....constantly humming and quietly singing the hook to yourself.
