Fripp's multitracked solo, in the middle of Daryl Hall's Something in 4|4 Time, has got to be one of my favourite moments of all time! (Ironically, in 6|4 time!)
Great job! I am a Robert Fripp fan for years I thought i knew a lot about him but you taught me more. He's quite a complex person. Gabriel all of them. It's really something over the years King Crimson and Genesis with Peter Gabriel have always been mind blowing for me. Years later when I got into King Crimson with Fripp and Belew and recognized their names as played on some of my Bowie albums. Oh well, over the years i learn more and more about Robert Fripp.
I bought this album on vinyl in 1979, and thought it was stunning. Then around the early 2000's I bought the cd version & discovered the vocals had been changed on 'Disengage' & 'Chicago', and not in a good way for me because I was used to the originals! Wonder what was going on there? There is no explanation in the cd notes. So I just kept playing the vinyl version after that.
Wow, well done sir, well done. I totally concur with 'Here comes the flood'
Ha. Thinking of Fripp leaving the direction of Red to Wetton and Bruford. "If Bob thought we were a loud rhythm section before...".
