Jim Hodges Dog Training Puppy Dos and Donts | Teaching Come On Leash and Off Leash

Hello everyone, this is a video on teaching our puppy to come on-leash and off-leash ... happily. No matter what age your puppy or dog is, this is how you break things down to teach him/her to come. It takes repetitions and repetitions, hundreds of them. Don't give the command unless she has committed to coming! The instructions in this video are the things I do with my puppies.
I like to think the things I do are the same symbolic and instinctive moves that mom and the siblings in the litter/pack do to each other. The important thing is to be upbeat, consistent and do not intimidate or dominate your puppy. Never ever ask your puppy to do something unless you know they are going to do it or you can make them do it. Of course, it is always more preferable to know instead of to make.

Hi Jim! I came across your training videos today while looking for westie training videos. What training leash are you using? I trained working shepherds a while back and used a simple piece of rope... yours looks like some type of plastic? I appreciate your input. I really enjoy watching your videos, refreshing me on training techniques that I've used in the past.
