I am 80 yr. old female and was able to complete the repair per your instructions. You are the BEST. Thank you for your down to earth and concise instructional video. All the best, AEB
My first DIY leaky faucet fix thanks to your short video and the nice clerk at Hardware Sales who sold me the right parts. Bought a set so I'm ready to go when the other side starts leaking. Signed, a grateful 66 yr. old woman in WA.
That’s a great recommendation. I’ve found with our rental houses (delta faucets) one side needs replaced and the other one will last and last and last. Almost like only 1 bearing going out in the lifetime of a car. Just my experience.
@@HandymanHertzjust replace both man. Can’t expect one side will last longer than the other and Stems are only like $8-$10 a piece. Water is naturally corrosive so rubber and spring will get worn out and most the time when it does corrode, it turns into a can of worms like hard to get that shit out for the next guy.
The silence I am thoroughly enjoying because I no longer have a leaky faucet… it’s pure bliss. Thank you. I am beyond grateful for easy to follow videos like this!!
Thank you man as a electrician I didn’t know where to even start with this sink i been putting it off for weeks and one bored adhd night later you helped me
Man Thank you for making this video. I followed it yesterday and today and did it. This faucet has been leaking for years. Need a video for my bathroom tub faucets😊. Thanks again.
Nice video 👍 Wished it was that easy for us 🤔I couldn't find the cartridge that fit to our faucet because it was discontinued outdated brand so now we have to buy the brand new faucet set and try to figure out how to install it or call a plummer 🙄👋👋🤗
When you put the the new seat and spring is it suppose to be flush in there completely? The one I took off was flat flushed down, and when I do it it’s in there but not flat flush down
It is not supposed to be flush, it's supposed to stick up a bit so the spring can press it against the cartridge and seal it. Hope this helps. I have a full video of this same project that goes into more details
Amazon or your local hardware store. Take it to them and someone will help you. I have a longer version of this video that explains more detail. You may enjoy checking it out.
I identified the side with the issue and took out the screw but the handle won’t come off! What do you recommend in this situation as I have no handyman experience?
yes, but not very much. with a correct fit, the seat should be able to be pressed down and the spring pop it back up. also, make the the spring has the wide end on the bottom. i have a full video of this that should help explain this bettter
its its like mine, Grab Some Pliers or vise grips and yank it out. I've never ran across anything that was that tough, so make sure the nut is off that is holding it in. i have a full video on replacing this that may be helpful
@@HandymanHertzI had already tried vise-grips and was worried I might do more damage than good so I put it back together and decided to call a plumber after the weekend. Turned the water back on and, THIS IS WILD, it isn't leaking again at all so far! I don't know what to make of that. Really appreciate your response. Sincerely, JR
@jrcastillo2824 interesting, the rubber gasket must have got bumped or adjusted. Maybe the Cartridge nut was loose and allowing water past the seats?. Glad you got it stopped, at least temporarily 👍🏼
Do you have shut off valves underneath? Close one of them (the valve on the cold, for instance) and if it stops leaking, it’s the cold. If not, it’s the hot. (Verify this by opening the cold back up and closing the hot in case it’s a rare case of a valve not closing all the way)
Step 1:Take off cartridge. Step 2: Find the guy like me and Identify faucet and cartridge. In this case Delta! FYI Not all faucet have springs and washers like this. Do it yourselfers go to hardware store and think all faucets are the same and “they all have springs and washers, because guy in video said so”😂. Do your homework. Pull out cartridge and identify it. Moen, Pfister, American Standard, yes even Glacier Bay! Have different stems or cartridges!
If it is leaking out of the spout, then either 1) your rubber seats are bad or 2) your cartridge is bad. I show how to replace both in my longer video on my channel.
FYI if you have a Moen faucet all replacement parts are free ( Moen provides a lifetime guarantee when purchased new) so just return the faulty part to the store for a free exchange!!
Of course this is a new model So the nut comes right off. Would’ve been nice to show you taking an old crusty nut off holding the backside. I assume there’s a special wrench on a rod that fits in that tiny area underneath
Figuratively throwing money down the drain, not literally. While something is literally going down the drain, it's not literally money. It's literally water.

What a sweet, simple, short, and to-the-point video. Thank you!
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
I agree 100% !!! 😎
Short and to the point. I’ve never done this before but this video was perfect and the repair worked out flawlessly. Thank you.
Glad to hear it, good job for giving it a go!

We always recommend to service faucets in pairs. Both stems are likely the same age. Easier to just do them both at the same time!

yeah and shut off the water to both…..SHUT OFF THE WATER TO BOTH!
I cant turn the shut off valve it ia shut off tight

Disagree why replace if it is good? They might be the same age, but usage will be different depending on the cold and hot weather

Hi what do I look for to find silicon grease please. You have really helped me so far!
its not required, most of the time you just need the black circle ring
The tap you are fixing is exactly like mine thank goodness.
Did you say water proof soap stone grease ? Can I use any grease.
Waterproof silicone grease.
Thank You For Your Info , I Same problem on my sink , Where do I Get The Part?

Does the cartridge say what model they are on them?
I do not believe so.
@ Ok thanks
Thank you!!!!
You're welcome
Can’t remove the nut it’s stuck in there any tips?
Hmm no, I've not ran into that, sorry? Maybe some penetrating oil?
Thank you

I cannot get the seat to seat. Is it supposed to recess down into where the spring is?

What those that don’t have seats?
How do we know which side is leaky ? Hot or cold

Proof of purchase or what is required?

Thanks, Glad to help!
Next, definitely replace that drain piping. Will be a problem later getting clogged/smelly
👍🏼
That you im going to try today
Good luck!

What’s with the accordion tube!?!
I believe Some diyer put it in before I bought the place. it’s a flexible p trap.
Is that turmoil music ❤
I don't know lol it's on Final Cut Pro.
What if one the sides is not working. 🤔
You can replace only one side, if that’s what you are asking?
FYI if you have a Moen faucet all replacement parts are free ( Moen provides a lifetime guarantee when purchased new) so just return the faulty part to the store for a free exchange!!
Now fix that flexible trap set up
Yup!
I soak and clean in CLR first. About 75%of the time it works. Just lime and gunk
Interesting, I've never tried that. I assume that's for the cartridges? Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that.
I don't have a cap what's the next thing to do
Look behind the handle there may be a set screw you loosen to take off the handle.
does the rubber part have to go in the hole with the spring or it sort of sits on top?
It needs to sit in there. You should be able to push on it and feel a little spring if it’s like mine.
I have a longer version of that same video that goes into more explanation
Of course this is a new model So the nut comes right off. Would’ve been nice to show you taking an old crusty nut off holding the backside. I assume there’s a special wrench on a rod that fits in that tiny area underneath
Most of them I come across are this easy that I've experienced.
I turned off the water on both knobs its still leaking
One or both of your shut off valves are bad. You can still make the repair, or you can shut off your whole house valve
There was no seat or spring when I removed the cartridge. I even reached in to see if I could feel it and there was nothing 😏
I can’t take off the freakin cap. I’ve tried everything 🙁.
Maybe you have a different type? Do you have an Allen key screw at the back of the handle?
I searched Faucet failure by ski mask and came across this now i eanna go to home Depot
That ptrap is going to have an issue with the water being siphoned out.
Yeah, idk why someone installed it that way.
Even cheaper buy orings for the valve
Probably just need to replace the o rings, or tighten something properly
Nope, rubber seat was torn
So, call a plumber? Got it! 😅
Don't eat your nails that's what causing the red beneath the nails.
👍🏼
Don’t worry about the leak. Wtf is that drain lmao
It’s Garbage…don’t blame me, I didn’t do it lol
Figuratively throwing money down the drain, not literally. While something is literally going down the drain, it's not literally money. It's literally water.
53 seconds 😂😂😂😂😂
Even with the after shut off it still leaks
Still leaks out the spout? Maybe you pit the cartridge in the wrong way or the wrong cartridge? New seats and springs?
