I lose my stirrups in sitting trot all the time! Prevents me from going into a canter. Also when that one leg goes back for the canter , balance and everything goes to s**t lol

One time, I was trotting and the guy in front of me started canter and my horse followed.BUT I HAD NEVER DONE CANTER so I lost my stirrups and fell for the first time 😂😭

This helped me so so so much! When I first tried cantering. I kept loosing my stirrups. Especially in jumps. Usually I try to stay calm. Because when your panicked.(For example in a jump) You don't realise what to do. And I've fallen of a couple times because I got a bit panicked as a canter is quite fast. And everything at once. This video helped me so much! 😊

You are seriously such a great teacher. I have been binge watching all of your videos and learning so much. I bought my first horse last year and I definitely have more confidence from the knowledge you have shared. Thank you for putting in the time to make these videos!

I feel very stiff and uncomfortable (incorrect) but scared to change anything about my position bc my trainer says it looks nice, then my horse braces against me and I loose my stirupps! So frustrating! Ik it’s bad but sometimes when I zone out and do my own thing we both move forward more and everything feels right. I don’t know what’s happening. I love your videos they are very helpful

      Hi Alaina:)
      That sounds frustrating!
It’s great that you have eyes on the ground to help you out. My advice would be don’t be afraid to experiment with your position. I think it’s easy to get worried about getting into a bad position and end up with tension as a result.
I also have had the experience of feeling like things didn’t come as easy in a lesson as when I was just playing around at home. I feel this happens because when l’m home and just messing around I’m more relaxed in the saddle.
      One thing that has helped
me transfer that good feeling into lessons while maintaining a good position, is to make a mental note of how I feel in my body on the days when my horse and I are doing well. For example, does my core feel strong and do my legs and ankles feel relaxed. I make a mental note of that good feeling. Doing this helps me to re-create that good feeling in a lesson or clinic. 😊 I hope this helps:)

Would love to see how you can be in 2-point position and be able to steer without reigns : and also how you keep in motion with the horse when doing this is trot (my current struggles lol)

When I start my horse to canter, I loose my stirrups (when I bring outside leg backwards). How shall I stop that?

Thank you so much this video will definitely help! I do have a question though. How do I keep pressure in my heels while also being able to sit the canter? This is one of the reasons why I loose my stirrups and it’s so frustrating.
