Abbey Road but it's only Paul (read description)

- Here it is what I hope counts as a definitive version of this mix. It's not the best quality, but unless someone wants to break into Abbey Road's basement and get the original multitrack, as well as a copy of Peter Jackson's magic software, this is as good as you (I) can get. Special thanks to @tubularbowhd7933 for the suggestion to isolate the vocals.

The previous version of this video was complete with vocals and instruments, but it was blocked almost entirely due to copyright. This version isn't almost entirely silence, but that came at the cost of (after a fair amount of trial and error with the algorithm) losing a few vocal tracks, and rebalancing some others. Anyway, just head over to this link to listen or download the full mix ↓

or you can listen to it in Odysee, if you're there (still missing Carry That Weight vocal track, which I found after uploading the video) ↓

@@NingenGH my bad, I thought I did. Thanks for the reminder! Hope you enjoyed the video.
great stuff, crazy hearing just paul’s part on carry that weight
@@bradley6676 I have to admit that I cheated a bit there. The original vocal track is impossible to isolate (for now), because they're singing in unison. What I used is the vocal track that Paul recorded along with the piano track, which you can hear in the video if you raise the volume all the way up. So, you could say it is there in the original album, just buried very low in the piano track.
Such a melodic bassist. Why do more bands and/or bassists not do more of this? Or am I missing something?
Listening to the Beatles with only one headphone be like:
Does it really “be like” that? Amazing, truly amazing.
Original Beatles recordings are mono so listening with one headphone be like just regularly listening to the Beatles…

Hearing Paul hum the solo in "Something" is so heartwarming, still appreciates the talent his bandmate has.
I had no idea that was happening! How did he pick that up?
I love that part so much
He appreciates it so much that he still puts in a bassline that's so busy, it distracts from the song. Ask George Harrison.

My favorite part of that song
The ghost of Ringo's drumming is still present, as the natural order dictates
This comment has a peculiar energy, but an enjoyable one.
Ringo - the only Beatle alive.

I never realized Paul didn't play bass on Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I looked it up and George did it!
Also on "Oh Darling"
And Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight. George pulled bass duty again while Paul played piano.
Never saw get back ?
He did sing the lead... Not just in the chorus. Where is that?

McCartney had his hands in almost every Beatles song. He's great at arrangements and has an ear for great sounds.
All of them are genius, no offense but most of beatles best songs are John song with a litte help from his friends and Paul song with a little help from his friends
He did have his hand in a fair number of Beatles songs. All of them. He was a Beatle lol.
all of the beatles were in almost every beatles song… paul is only 1/4 of the genius
Sure but most of his compositions after 1966 have not aged well at all, bunch of corny, cheesy, schmaltz.
Billy, not Paul...Billy!
i always loved how Paul treated the bass lines as if it were a vocal.
That was not something that was innate in his ability. He developed this skill over years of work. His early bass playing was just very workmanlike. He grew into an amazing craftsman over the years. My main point is to not diminish the work it took to arise at this amazing level of skill (says this professional musician).

Initially I thought this wasn't going to include the harmonies that Paul does in these songs. But when his voice appeared in the second verse of Come Together, I just about freaked out. God bless.

The bassline on Something's got its own life, impressive! Never even thought about it
Not to be rude but how do you listen to that song and NOT think about the bassline?!
@@hugheytheboi I don't know, maybe it's because I'm a guitarist and just get lost in the guitar instead. Though Paul's basslines is definitely one of the things to live for, I never really paid close attention to this one in particular, for some reason.
It's a genius song - no question, but the rhythm section elevates it into the mesosphere.
@@letavikHow? Paul basically took over that song. Bass is more of a lead instrument in that song than guitar.
Practically the invention of the melodic bassline right there
McCartney is a damn good bass player. Not many bass players can really add the character to the song as he does.
Fun fact: this was how he originally lobbied for the album to be released.
He wanted every Beatles album to be just him that’s for sure and have his face be bigger in every poster and picture.
Not true obviously😂 His background vocals singled out in Oh Darling do sound very much like how Wings would sound without John's and George's adding to the harmony. The Beatles where a marvelous collective and never reached the same level as artists seperately. McCartney knew that and tried to keep them working together as long as possible, even though the others did no longer wanted to.
@@draaienmaar I haven't listened to much of it, but I did think what I heard reminded me of his Wings era.

Paul's bass line is awesome, its carrying the song most times, on Come Together with Ringo's drums really makes it.
This is a cool concept. Be interesting to hear all the albums by all the members contributions individually. You know, for the record and appreciation of what they put in and how put together they became more than the sum of their already mighty heights.
We will one day. Today made me realize that
Paul has so much buried brilliance in this album. The piano lick in Octopus's Garden is wonderfully charming.
I *LOVE* this. Just saw Paul in concert and I'm full of wonder at his immense talent, I've been a Paul (and Beatles) fan since birth but seeing him live blew my mind. That we are still dissecting his work and trying to comprehend his genius is a testament to the man's unadulterated magic. Thanks for the work you put into this!
A fan since birth? 😂😂
@@Lansdownmedia actually that isn't quite right - pretty sure I was a fan whilst in the womb.

I’m pretty sure there’s never been a better start to an album for a bassist than with Come Together and Something.
Genious bass on "I want you"! Long Live, Paul
Yes!! Absolutely brilliant!!
This is really interesting to hear as a non-musician and as someone who's listened to this album a kazillion times since first hearing it in the seventies. Would love to hear the George and John. versions.
No Ringo? :( (I get it, but still)
I love this, shows how much he contributed to the others songs. Genius!
A fascinating listen! Hearing the "Oh! Darling" harmonies on their own almost sounds like another song.
It's still cool hearing how the harmonies get isolated, and sound cool when by themselves when you're used to hearing them all get blended together
Thanks for doing this. His artistic choices, with each bass note, literally blows my mind; none obvious, but all so perfect. Without doubt the greatest bassist in history.
Paul is a genius and the Beatles are the greatest band of all time, nothing more to say.✌️❤️

I Want You (She's So Heavy) is fascinating to listen, it is actually a lot more simple than it sounds with the classical mix, especially the fills and the slides,.....wow

It sounds like he’s playing a giant rubber band. Incredible
I don't care what George said... I love McCartney's bassline in 'Something'
@@detroitfunk313 No he wasn't happy with it. George's own video recorded interviews prove it.

Paul always had such an amazingly phat bass tone. Especially for the time. And his bass lines were always very melodic and engaging to the listener.

Awesome. Very enjoyable listening to Paul in isolation. Thank you😊
Abbey Road but Paul has schizophrenia:
Und Du bist krank...
He's really hammering away on Here Comes The Sun! And, yeah, creepy effect on the vocal, but SO cool to really hear it, with the claps!
I Want You really shows not only how great his groove, note choices and inflection are, but also how good his tone is on the instrument. IIRC most of this album was his Rick bass. Killing.
Whoever posted this, thank you very much 👏
De hecho es una excelente calidad, me sorprendió "Because", ya que se pudo entender a Paul casi sin contexto, lo cual es técnicamente muy difícil debido a que los 3 cantaron en un solo micrófono al mismo tiempo. Felicidades, gran trabajo!!!🎉
I love that someone took the time and effort to do this. But strange to have many of his backup parts but some of his most important lead vocals! Still very cool and way better than most separated tracks!
EDIT: Ah I just saw the comment about why you had to leave out some lead vocals
This is very good, keep up the great work man.
thanks a lot for your audio. will help a lot as a reference for recording my music: bass, vocals, chorus, etc.
I hadn't really appreciated how much Paul contributed with the piano.

Incredible thanks for posting!

Tremendo trabajo bro, saludos desde Chile
Muchas gracias! Saludos desde el otro lado de la montaña 😁
It would be really interesting to hear the album in the opposite way: with all Paul removed. He really was their greatest team player - and that’s despite his reputation for control-freakery. His contributions to the others songs were generous and transformative. He was only ever after what was the best for the songs.
Well said - he just wanted it to be the best it could possibly be.
Nope. He is by far the most interesting musician of the lot. It's the other three that are disposable.
@@JeffK.that's why he asked for a version with Paul removed, to show that he was the most important musician.

Love that you correctly attributed ALL the vocals from "The end" to Paul!!
Great job!!!
Great to hear forever
Gracias por poner a Paul y no solo el bajo como aveces se cree
I think you did a great job, I am in awe of anyone that can do this kind of thing. Thanks for sharing it with us.
It can all be done with apps/AI. Push button easy. Not to discredit the author, they may very well have run it through their gear to clean it up as well.
The quality of the isolation is so good! I’ve always been pretty terrible at doing stem separation like this and usually rely on crappy AI plug-ins or trying to EQ tracks as best as I can. I’ve also heard inverting tracks and cancelling out audio can work but I’ve never totally understood how to do it in practice. If anybody has info about how to do this or if you wanted to do a behind the scenes tutorial, I’d be very interested!
When the lower cost of doing the same of work like done with Get Back and more recently it’s gonna blow our tiny little minds. And all of us who grew up with original analog reel to reel will truly be able to say “Now I’ve heard everything!” And it will be true.
Like a whole new Beatle Album! Thank you!

Amazing, man.

You know, this oddly sounds really nice.
Because sounds terrifying but amazing
The bassline in She came in through the bathroom window is severely underrated man, such a great random track in the Abbey road Medley xD
Paul also sings on the She's So Heavy parts with John, not only the high note you left
I did the drum solo part in my head during "The End," seeing if I can time it correctly.
This is incredible... Nicely done. Although it's been pretty well established by now (especially after the deluxe edition) that it's Lennon thrashing on the piano on 'Oh! Darling' and Paul on bass.
Well I used to think that was the instrumental line-up of the song: John on piano, Paul on bass and George on guitar but it turned out that it was supposedly corrected to be Paul on piano, George on bass and John on guitar.
Everyone knows it’s Paul on piano
Not according to Mark Lewisohn and the Abbey Road Deluxe release, folks. It's John on piano.
Thank You ! I will try to syncronized to the album by four artists !!!
Paul should be singing on maxwells silver hammer and oh darling
Please read the description.
And it was George on the moog , not Paul
Paul played the Moog on Maxwell. John played it on I Want You. George played it on Here Comes The Sun and Because.
Well, I think the video is about Macca but on arranging and harmonies, not lead vocals
Interesting concept fo sure!
