To you the videocreator: a big THANK YOU for allowing free speech and handling your channel seriously. I really mean that. I know that you 100 procent disagree with my stance but you still allowed me to make comments on your video. BIG respect to you!
I was lucky enough to be at their first of two shows on September 3, 1964 when they performed at the Indiana State Fair. There are several videos of that show here on UA-cam for the searching. I was only 6 at the time, but had two older sisters and EVERYTHING was “Beatles.” I can also remember seeing them on the Ed Sullivan show. It was a magical time. Even as huge as the boys in BTS have become, even as massive as Taylor Swift is on her current “Eras” tour, the Beatles are in an entirely different universe. People forget how SHORT their run was - and without trying to start a row with purists over dates, depending on which event you choose to mark the “beginning” of the band, they made all of that music between (approximately) 1960 to 1970. Roughly ten years covers everything we know as “The Beatles.”
I was a kid in the 60s. Our next door neighbours were a very musical family singing in bands and had guitars etc. ,sometimes on summer days they would set the gear up in the back garden and play hits of the time. I even did a bit of singing! Brilliant times❤
I've been a fan of the Beatles for about as long as I can remember, yet somehow never saw any of the photos other than the one they wound up using for the album cover. I love how a few random passersby appear in some of the shots. The word "iconic" tends to be vastly overused, but those people in the background had no way of knowing they were witnessing one of the most iconic photoshoots in pop culture history. Thanks so much for posting!
Amazing pictures! They all look superb!!! SO much fun! And thanks a lot for Because backing track, I sang along while watching the photos - great experience!
Do not be silly. The photo was about to reflect a "funeral scene" not having a japanesse lady steal all the focus from the band. I am sorry but so many of you normie Beatles fans are totally CLUELESS.
Ölsk Zeri - The funeral scene is something fans came up with after the fact. This was a simple photo shoot of the band walking across the damn street and nothing more.
@@crusheverything4449 don't know, never thought of this but maybe they were portraying their final album and death or end of the beatles. They were clearly dressed to emulate funeral participants, maybe coincidentally but you have the preacher, the mourner, the undertaker and the dead one each dressed the part.
Dave April - At the time of recording Abbey Road, The Beatles were unsure if it would be their last album. While I do believe they planted a lot of Paul is dead clues, I think there were many that were coincidental and the funeral thing is one of them, as far as I’m concerned, based on having read every major Beatles book of the last fifty years.
Yes-ish. They also knew this was their last album as The Beatles. And they knew that was very special. Paul and to a lesser extent Ringo in these outtakes from the photo shoot seem to most realize it.

Hi Bill. You are aware that your namesake Bill is on this photo ? I honestly think Revolver is the best album made by the REAL Fab four. But Abbey Road is one of the better albums during the "Billy Shears" era Beatles.
Yes, indeed it is! All Beatles albums are... well... you know what they are!... But "Abbey Road"? To me, there is only one thing wrong in it - "Octopus´s Garden"! All the rest? Perfection!!! Especially the "Medley"! Sheer beauty!!! Those last 52 seconds of "The End"??? No other album has something comparable!!! - the closest is "A day in the life"...
Many years ago when my wife and I visited London, I told her I had to do the walk across Abbey Road. When we arrived I was quite surprised at how busy the road actually is. I had to wait a bit until I saw there wasn't any nearby traffic going thru. But there were also plenty of idiots who thought it was their God-given right to cross it, oncoming traffic be damned. A lot of cars honking that day.
@@jimmycampbell78 John's song "Cold Turkey" is nothing but pain. John said he wanted to let people know what it was like to go through that so they would not have to. John did withdraw cold turkey, I don't know if Yoko was with him when he did or if he just sequestered himself some place. Its funny (really not funny) but when I was young I never put 2 and 2 together with John..... but I was never exposed to those sorts of drugs. Like everyone my age, I did some weed and a little hash but that was it. Everyone knew that by Sgt. Pepper John was dropping acid pretty heavily and Paul and George had tried it. Ringo never did. And when you listen to Ringo's drumming it shows - Ringo IS a human metronome - you can't do that stoned. It seems that no mater what it was, John always took it to the next level - just his personality and I think the fact that he was burying so much pain inside him all the way back to his mum being killed (run over by the drunken cop). Peace and Love!
Everlasting. Whoever lived it, lived it. Those who have not lived will never live and do not know the nature and meaning of those days. God save the Beatles and everything and everyone who orbited that 1968 sun. God save the generation of 50s and 60s who, with roses in their hands, extraordinary songs, short skirts, long hair and rebellious ideas avoided World War 3
They literally changed the entire world. There will never be anything that can top the Beatles. Yes, there is some great amazing music before and after the Beatles but nothing can and will ever match the Beatles music and their lasting influence they had over our entire planet.
According to the Beatles Channel, as the album Abby Road was being recorded they were going to call it Everest but then started discussing all the logistics of getting everyone who would be involved in taking pictures of the Fab Four to a place where Everest would be seen behind them, and they reconsidered and started to discuss other titles and photos when someone said, Hey lets call it Abby Road and go outside and take the pictures. Everyone like that idea so here we see the results of not going to Everest!
I have a pic of me walking across that same crosswalk. People come from around the world for that pic. I met 2 guys from Holland and a lady from Japan looking for the same crosswalk. You have to stand in the middle of the road to get the shot, and cars have to stop and wait, but no one blows their horn or yells. They patiently wait for the pic to be taken. Its been a daily thing there for decades and they're used to it. classic.
I always thought that there were only 3 members of the public in this photo: the three people above Paul's head and the tweed jacket man above John's head; but there are actually 3 more: a man crossing the road above Paul's head (behind the car), and a couple on the right pavement in between the second and third lampposts.
Beatles are the prime eg of everything falling into place perfectly. The timing, the place, the individuals and their chemistry. These are factors that you cannot manufacture or force. The reason why people have tried and failed to create another band like that or a band equally influential.
interesting to see which other pics where taken - 2:26 which is on the cover is the best. And the guy in the background I once read was a tourist from Netherlands (his Beetle is park on left side ON the sidewalk - did he get a ticket for that? from the lovely Rita metermaid?)
I was born and brought up in London, a massive Beatles fan, but I'm not the person who wants to visit shrines. Even so I remember when young in the 80's working as a cycle messenger. Getting a bit lost I cycled down a street and found myself cycling into the album cover. Oh my God, I'd looked at the cover so many times and here I was recognising it instantly so many years later. It's my favourite album cover. Also the blurred girl walking past the street sign is so iconic.
I was looking at this Abbey Road photo shoot for the first time, and as I was doing so, I got a sense that The Beatles knew deep down inside that this was the end of the road. I don't know if I truly saw it in either Paul's or Ringo's faces. But I could definitely see it in the eyes of John and George. By the way, Paul was the unquestioned MVP of this photo shoot. On a warm spring day, Paul had to walk across the street barefoot on warm (probably hot) asphalt. His dogs must have been barking loudly at the end of the day.

Beautifully said.

“Hey let’s all grow our beards but don’t tell Paul”
There is no Paul in this photoshoot. The point of this cover was to have William as "Paul McCartney" to play "the corpse".
Ölsk Zeri, haha! Good one.
He did it before they did.
Let’s tell Paul we all should come to the outdoor photo shoot without our shoes, but Paul will be the only one crossing barefoot, which will cause him to burn his feet on the street baked in the hot summer sun. Ouch ouch ouch!
Paul McCartney had a beard only recently before this cover shot. Before then, John Lennon was the one without any facial hair.
They had no idea - no one did - how unbelievably iconic this album cover would become, and it remains so to this day.
Wish this type of music was popular now as it was then . Today music has no heart soul or feeling to.
Just be thankful that all this great music was recorded for us to enjoy forever
I'm not even sure they new what magic they were sending out, but the effect still haunts many of us today!
Haunts? Maybe! Enchants might be a better word.
Their magic still enchants us so many years later!

WOW.this is just amazing how the concept for what would become the iconic album cover for the most influential band in music history came to be.God bless JOHN LENNON, PAUL McCARTNEY, GEORGE HARRISON and RINGO STARR.
Only the Beatles could take a classical masterpiece, and make it their own. Beautiful be and brilliant.
The photos really reveal some of the plain FUN they were still having at the end of it all... very bittersweet.
Yeah.. they made the cover that way for "fun". Keep telling yourself that.

I envy anyone that grew up in the 60's and had these as the band of their youth.
It sucks being old, but I wouldn't give back those days for anything.
Yeah, you're dead right about that...first encountered them in 1963 with "She Loves You " 👍
I was lucky enough to be at their first of two shows on September 3, 1964 when they performed at the Indiana State Fair.
I’m 74 thank you.
I was a kid in the 60s. Our next door neighbours were a very musical family singing in bands and had guitars etc. ,sometimes on summer days they would set the gear up in the back garden and play hits of the time. I even did a bit of singing! Brilliant times❤
The Album Art is also a banger. It’s like the cherry on top. It’s the most recognizable album art cover ever.
These were the pics that inspired so many of us to grow our hair long.
This iconic photo was taken on my 4th Birthday-August 8, 1969. Always remember that all John was saying is, _"Give peace a chance."_
That, “where did I put my heroin needle?” and “what if I just didn’t pay my taxes?”.
That’s all he was saying.
All You Need Is Love.
Amazing pictures! They all look superb!!! SO much fun! And thanks a lot for Because backing track, I sang along while watching the photos - great experience!
50yrs ago crazy..
Such an iconic photo. Perfect shot too.
I’m glad John didn’t insist you-know-who be allowed in the picture.
Do not be silly. The photo was about to reflect a "funeral scene" not having a japanesse lady steal all the focus from the band.
I am sorry but so many of you normie Beatles fans are totally CLUELESS.
Hear! Hear! 👍👍
What amazes me is the fact that the lads took it as 'a photo', but little did they know that it was going to be 'the photo' :') ❤
Yes-ish. They also knew this was their last album as The Beatles. And they knew that was very special. Paul and to a lesser extent Ringo in these outtakes from the photo shoot seem to most realize it.

Rubbish there's only two good songs on that Album! Pink Floyd, Supertramp, The smiths, Fleetwood mac and a lot more English bands are ten times better than the Beatles and you know it!

The best album from the greatest band ever....
Hi Bill. You are aware that your namesake Bill is on this photo ?
I honestly think Revolver is the best album made by the REAL Fab four.
But Abbey Road is one of the better albums during the "Billy Shears" era Beatles.
Revolver was the best album.
Any Beatles is good with me, the Fab four knew us well, we work hard for our money, so give them our best!!.
Ölsk Zeri stop you attention hogging numbskull
This compilation is priceless! Thank you.
George looks like he's not having it. Aww, Paul and Ringo. :) And John looks so old....
John was addicted to heroin around this time. He had dramatic weight loss which you can observe within the Abbey Road sleeve photos.
When he got off it and suffered withdrawal, this is documented in his song “Cold Turkey”.
Cynthia Klenk - I’ve seen many drummers keep perfect time stoned out of their heads.
@@crusheverything4449 What is your point?
Macca had flip flops for all his photos except the selected one. Became a cult classic discussion in The Beatles folklore.
Interesting to see Paul did a number of crossings, sandals on ...
What amazes me is that there aren't more people around. The people we see look like passerby who happen to be in the vicinity.
They literally changed the entire world.
There will never be anything that can top the Beatles.
Yes, there is some great amazing music before and after the Beatles but nothing can and will ever match the Beatles music and their lasting influence they had over our entire planet.
I put together a 1000 piece puzzle of that famous photo and framed it.
where did you get this version of because if you remember? this sounds so good!
People come from around the
world for that pic. I met 2 guys from Holland and a lady from Japan looking for the
same crosswalk. You have to stand in the middle of the road to get the shot, and cars
have to stop and wait, but no one blows their horn or yells. They patiently wait for the
pic to be taken. Its been a daily thing there for decades and they're used to it. classic.
0:54 John Lennon looks like someone in his 50s - he was only 28 !
Too much coke I think

It seems so casual back then. Very few people around. Imagine going back in time and standing there. : )
I always thought that there were only 3 members of the public in this photo: the three people above Paul's head and the tweed jacket man above John's head; but there are actually 3 more: a man crossing the road above Paul's head (behind the car), and a couple on the right pavement in between the second and third lampposts.
Imagine being a truck coming down the road and then all the sudden you see four Beatles standing in the crosswalk in front of you
From the Paul is Dead Department: John is the preacher, Ring the undertaker, Paul the deceased, and George is the grave digger.
Great photos. Thanks for posting.

Beatles are the prime eg of everything falling into place perfectly. The timing, the place, the individuals and their chemistry. These are factors that you cannot manufacture or force. The reason why people have tried and failed to create another band like that or a band equally influential.

A very fitting song for the four that change the world's music.......
Dude! Thank you for this!
I love that in the 60s we thought this road was so busy it needed a zebra crossing.
Beautiful!!!
