Last month I lost my first hedgehog Petunia, she almost made it to her 3rd birthday on Valentine’s Day and I am not sure when I’ll be ready to get another. But you’re hedgie videos really make me smile and fill my hedgie void for right now. Oh my goodness her little face poking out from under the wheel while she's burrowed in bedding 😍😍
To keep the bedding fresh for longer, put a litter tray under the wheel with yesterday's news. I use kaytee clean and cozy with yesterday's news in the litter pan. I clean the cage out each week, but if something happens and it needs to be pushed back for an extra week there's still no smell or anything as long as I switch out the litter in the litter pan. It's good stuff, and my boy absolutely loves burrowing in the clean and cozy.

I love her and her cage so much. Also If she’s getting substrate in her water dish you can use a placemat it works really well for my mice who always used to fill their dishes with bedding. Best wishes💕

I personally use fleece, but try out fleece to see if your hedgehog likes to burrow

I have an Inkbird on her cage! It does work well :) My zilla ones work well too though, I have a couple of them.

Yes, technically with some modification a dog crate could work as long as it’s big enough :)

I have the prevue 528 cage for my dwarf hamster and i was thinking that i could make her a 50 gal bin cage and give my sisters hedgehog my cage. Thanks for your video! Did you glue the coroplast together? If yes what type of glue or silicone is safe for a hedgehog? I have a diy cage made with melamine, wood and plexiglass. I would like to put some coroplast on the bottom and a little bit on the side of the cage to make sure the pipi doesn’t go on the melamine. I think it will be better if I make a joint between the bottom and the side but I want to choose something safe for the hedgehog.
Mine is actually just taped on the sides because it’s all one tray and I just tape the sides. Most nontoxic glues are hedgehog safe. For what your project entails, I’d suggest silicone! You want to get silicone that is just 100% silicone, nothing that has mold or mildew resistance on the label or added ingredients. And then it needs to set and air out prior to adding your hedgehog :)

What do you use as a border on your critter nations so the animals don’t climb? I’m getting a double critter nation for my 2 hedgehogs soon and was curious what are some good options to use so they don’t climb and hurt themselves.

This may be a dumb question.... My friend just recently got the sister to my Hedgehog, can they play together since they are sister & sister, but have been apart for about a month now? I've did some research on it & some say they are solitary animals so they can't be together, others say yes, some say yes because they are both female.. I can't get a straight answer. So I was wondering if you knew or what your thoughts on it may be. I think they would be ok since they are sisters but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

It’s normal to not see them running - they tend to only do it in complete darkness usually. :)

Where did you get those food and water bowls. I got some from the pets store but they are too tall for my hedgehog and he has to almost climb in the bowl.
I have the same water dish. You can get them on chewy. They are called Living World Ergonomic Small Pet Dish. They cost around $2.50 not including shipping.
Hi, so this is really random, but someone I know just got her daughter a single guinea pig, and I don’t know much about them, but aren’t they supposed to only be kept in pairs? How do I explain that to her without sounding like a terrible person? She also works in a pet store that seeks puppy mill dogs so I’m not sure she would even listen. How many inches of cozy clean would use for a hedgehog?
I have roughly two inches in mine because Trix hasn’t shown much interest in burrowing just yet. If you have one that likes burrowing a lot, more might be nice :)
