Heck, you could literally just skip past the first major dungeon if you wanted to. It may even be easier to do so. The recommended level ranges for Stormveil, Raya Lucaria, and Carian Manor are pretty much the same, though Raya Lucaria is a lot more difficult to treverse than Stormveil.

You have this bro, there is no "best build" since you have lots of very good weapons for every damage type, but there are certain things that can help you in the beginning, like prioritizing HP over your damage stats and exploring the area you are in before tackling the main bosses for good loot. Good luck in your journey

I started souls games with Elden ring and it took me a year to complete it. I gave up 4-5 times throughout that time frame so it wasn’t like I was playing consistently but I told myself that “as long as I don’t give up,” I can become the Elden Lord. And so that’s what I did.

I think anyone that is curious and likes to explore will have an easier time in Elden Ring, as someone else already said, if you get stuck you can go somewhere else and come back later stronger. It's also important to pay attention to everything, every dialogue, every hint, the game doesn't tell you much and barely helps you, so the few hints you get are important. The beauty of the game is the fact that you are a tarnished of no rename, that knows nothing yet, in a vast and strange world, but you will keep going forward and accomplish great deeds. Just have fun adventuring!

I recommend a Faith/Strength or Faith/Dexterity build for your first playthrough, it's always been a really solid choice throughout Fromsoft games, Faith gives a lot of utility, and I'm of the opinion that everyone's first playthrough of a Fromsoft title should be primarily melee, but that's just me, do whatever you like, it's your playthrough, though I will say, the satisfaction of beating a hard boss without summons is incomparable

  • @Vahlok2501
    @Vahlok2501 6 місяців тому

I've played Elden Ring a fair amount (start to finish two times, very different characters) and I can say that all of the advice in the second trailer is definitely useful. Sometimes you'll find an area (or an enemy in an area) is too strong for your character at your current level, that's fine, just explore elsewhere because there's plenty of stuff to find that will benefit you.
One of the most important things I can recommend, however, is to only level STR/DEX/INT/FAITH enough to use whatever things you want to use (at least when starting out). When you have the stats you need to equip the weapons and armour (and spells if applicable) you want to use, increasing those stats only gives a little boost to damage, whereas levelling Vigor (HP stat) can allow you to survive a whole lot more. The difference between 20 Vigor to 40 Vigor is astounding, transforming one-hit-kill attacks from stong enemies into attacks you can withstand and recover from. Levelling up your stamina and equip load is also important, as being under Heavy Load will make you less able to dodge attacks.
Last suggestion: Stamina management is the key to success. Don't button mash attacks or dodges. If you run out of stamina, you become unable to do anything for a fraction of a second, which some enemies will capitalise on. Stamina regeneration slows down if you keep a shield blocking, and you get stunned if you are blocking when your stamina is exhausted by enemy attacks, which can get you killed.

Best of luck! As someone who's been enjoying Souls games for over a decade, I have one crucial tip to share: understand that dying is an integral part of mastering the enemy patterns and embracing these types of games. While in other games, death might signify failure, in Elden Ring, it's merely a step forward.
In Elden Ring, there are no permanent game overs, no dead ends, and no irreversible build choices. Feel free to explore at your own pace. Since this is your first Souls experience, don't hesitate to look up basic mechanics online if you ever feel confused.
There is absolutely no reason to be scared. Just make your own decisions and enjoy this unforgettable ride.

I’ve played Elden ring through multiple times and honestly i wouldn’t recommend going full mage build. My go to is start with samurai and invest pointed talent points in dex, vit, and strength, because the weapon you start with is still valid in the endgame, and add either magic in as you level up. It’s completely up to you whether you go with faith(incantations) or sorcery, my go to is faith bc of personal bias lol.

Dont worry about the 'magic is an L' part of the community. Even they will agree that the best way to play the game is to have fun. I went with a Faith/Strength build for my first playthrough. I would suggest watching a 'best starting builds for magic character' style video. In simple terms the best starting builds to pick; Incantation (Faith) - Confessor
    Bleed (Dexterity) - Samurai
    Sorcery (Intelligence) - Astrologer
    Strong boi (Strength) - Warrior/Hero

The thing is that on release Magic was OP. Pure Int mages could easily destroy many bosses with little to no effort. But since then many patches have released and mage builds have been toned down.
It’s even reached a point where you can argue faith mage is stronger than Int mage now and that’s a huge turnaround.

I started with Elden Ring and have now played all games but Bloodborne and DS3. I believe in you!
The only thing I'd reccomend early on is leveling both Strength and Dexterity to around ~17-20 or so you're able to try out just about every weapon you find. Once you beat the 2nd major boss you can always reallocate your levels to pick a direction and make a definitive build w/ the help of the wiki.

Welcome. I quit Dark Souls games in the past. Couldn't get it to click. But I've found a lot of incredible help from the community. And elden ring has so many accessibility options for play style that I found it refreshing. Never felt like I had to beat my head against a wall, even with all the odds stacked. With summons and magic the game becomes quite easier at times with some distinct spikes. But I never felt discouraged. Part of why I love the design of the world. Ahm man. That's why people always recommend newbies to start with DS1.
You won't appreciate the value of jumping if you don't suffer through it first. And ER trailer fixed that for us. We can actually have a dedicated jump button after all these years of pain.

  • @Rhombae
    @Rhombae 6 місяців тому

FYI - Elden Ring, like the Fromsoft Souls/Bloodborne games before it, has player PVP invasions. In ER, its only when you summon co-op though.
Literally another player can invade your game (if the area/dungeon boss is not dead) with the goal to kill the Host of the world (you).
Its actually quite brilliant - the balance to having co-op is that you open yourself up to the possibility of PVP, but the balance of that is always that the invader is facing 2v1 or 3v1 situations, although the PVE is usually there in the level still. Maybe more accurately, its imbalanced in a very deliberate way that no games have ever been able to replicate (at least successfully imo)
As a player since the first Dark Souls with probably a thousand hours in Elden Ring alone - best piece of advise I can give is that the often talked about "difficulty" isn't really what you think. These games are probably harder than what you might be used to, sure, but ONLY because its wants to give you all the tools, and more importantly knowledge, to feel the success of overcoming the challenge. Once it clicks and you feel that, very few other games come close.
Looking up the "easiest" way to do stuff is a trap I'd encourage not falling into. You'll unknowingly deny yourself one of the best ways to both learn and enjoy the game. "Get good" isn't actually just a dismissive meme - the game really wants you to get better at it, however you can figure out how.
Lastly, some very basic, spoiler-free advice - Level Vigor first, its your most important stat. Starter class doesnt matter much, you can build your character into whatever. Get used to the game playing differently than any other action RPG you've ever played; if you press a button, your character commits to the action/animation, even so far as queuing actions if you button mash (ie don't spam dodge roll). Dying is not a big deal, its how you learn. Losing your runes/souls is ok. Perseverance and learning enemy's moveset & attack patterns is far more important than having anything like precise reaction times.

For a beginner I always recommend to do a Strength build using the Greatsword with Lion's Claw ash of war. This is considered as "easy mode" because of how much damage and hyperarmor Lion's Claw gives. After that once you get more familiar with the game you can start experimenting with other builds, but in the meantime Greatsword build is the way to go.

Everytime someone says "I suck at these games" I immediately shout at my screen *EVERYONE DOES* lmao
Seriously tho, it's part of the journey to suck at first and then become stronger, more experienced and master the game. And the journey is really fun and addicting as hell.
My favourite analogy is that it's like playing an instrument and learning a song: You can't expect picking up a guitar for the first time and playing like Hendrix right away. Gotta first become familiar with your tools and then learn the stuff you wanna play. Each little step in your progress, however big or small, brings you closer to mastering. Then, you'll actually start playing. This applies to any video game, really. But what's cool about it is that once you've done it? You have mastered not only this game, you've developed a feel for this type of game, thus now can play ANY action focused RPG and learn it much quicker. Also, the confidence boost and the right to flex about it are nice bonuses, hehe.
Honestly, Souls games are not much harder than most action oriented games. It's all about experience and knowledge and these games can become cakewalks.

I wouldn't suggest a full mage build right from the start. Its a rough start, but it gets powerful later on. Like every build.
    Honestly, every build has its strong points;
Strength can knock down even the largest of foes. Heavy weapons galore are here.
Dexterity will keep you moving, and your opponents bleeding. Samurais and Martial artists are here.
Intelligence is wonderfully simple, yet effective. Your classic mage build.
Faith is versatile and broad reaching. If you like fire and lightning, it has it all.
and even Arcane gives you access to some nasty status effects. Archers and Crossbowman are here.

You say you're gonna do a magic build and that may likely change as you play but some quick facts to help you play.
There are 2 shcools of magic (basically), incantations and sorceries. They level up with different stats.
Armor is moslty for fashion. Defense is a thing but the only real concerns are if armor is too heavy or has a cool extra buff you like.
Weapons are where you can really customize your build in terms of gameplay.
You dont get the abilty to level up or the ability to summon spirits or the horse until you find the people who give them to you.
This can be done right away. You just gotta know where they are.
Maps are blank until you find the pieces lying around the world. But the blank map has drawings of little towers and that is where the map pieces are.
You can make your own markers on the map and it appears in the world for you to follow.
The game doesnt have quest markers so this helps a lot in finding your way around.
Hope this helps and didnt come off like back seat gaming. Just seen some of this stuff frustrate people.
    Have fun!!

You’re about to catch a major bag off this if you do it right, and discover for the first time one of the best crafted games/series of games of all time. Lotta the soulsborne vets wish they could experience that again. Here’s some tips to help you maximize your enjoyment and viewership:
    1. Go in as blind as possible to the story and read item descriptions. A lot of the lore is hidden within the item descriptions. All the successful long term elden ring channels are heavily lore focused, and it’s a very rich story so there is a lot there.
    2. The leveling and scaling mechanics are different between builds and weapons. What works for one weapon won’t work for every weapon. Many of us have watched material on how tf this works, so do what you gotta do there
    3. No killing turtles or merchants, they are held in high esteem. Everything else you can make a judgement call.
    4. Sorcery can be difficult early game, and since you are new, you’re gonna need to learn how to parry/roll/fight effectively with melee weapons. You must git gud, there is no other way.
Have fun man i’ll be rocking with you

I think one of the most important things to keep in mind is that you can play it however you like. Nobody is good at these games the very first time, so use any tool you want to help you through. Read all the item descriptions and just enjoy the journey. :)
Also? Don't worry about dying. It's just part of the game, and the more you die, the better it feels when you win.

Usually the balanced class at start is knight, or in Elden Ring's case it's called Vagabond. For basic melee start, it's a pretty solid start allocation and some room to survive a few things a bit better. For starting this will also help you a feel of how the game is working especially with stats, blocking, and parrying. One weakness of mage builds is how much can you cast vs ho long and hardfought some places may be, and eventually you'll find enemies good against spell casters. Once you really start collecting weapons, skills, and upgrade resources, you consider a bit deeper in the benefits of weapons and damage types. I find the two furthest running damage types are flame and bleed for effectiveness, but you will again find some exceptions to that idea with certain enemy types. Often the lore/nature of an enemy determines its strengths like being unable to bleed a tree out. Dodging gives you invincibility frames, but you only get a few frames to make it count in, so you can skill through much of the game well with light weighted fast dodges in good choice of directions of incoming attacks. As a result of this masters of the games often do a naked playthrough with only a headpiece on and their weapons of choice. The idea is that they aren't expecting to take damage. Playing a mage build usually means that you can stay backed up more to deal damage, but some bosses really want to deliver the fight to you.

Hey always glad to see other people trying out this game. I can definetly can recommend for beginners a mix of casting and melee as a build. And a general ruleset of this game is: if it's too strong, back off, explore and come back stronger. I hope you have a great time with Elden Ring

I think best thing to do and this is my opinion I recommend this for people that enjoy exploring. Go in this game and explore, not only will you get stronger while exploring, you will get the hang of core mechanics the game has once you explored a few dungeons you can head to the first ACTUAL boss.

About builds, I think you shouldn't worry to much. There are tons of different great builds and it really comes down to your playstyle more than "what's the best", you need to try things out for yourself and see what you like more.
Only real advice I can think is to try using both your weapons AND magic. Magic (be it sorcery or incantations) is great in this game, but you don't need to limit yourself to it, your weapon will serve you well no matter what.
Overall, just try to use all tools available to you, be they weapons, spells, summons and even consumables. If you pick an item, try it out, experiment with it. Everything in this game has a use, nothing is truly useless, you just need to try things out until you find out what they're good for.

Basic advice: Put a lot of stat points into vigor, especially early on. Never let your equipment load be at Heavy. Take full advantage of the spirit ashes. As far as magic vs. melee goes, I think magic is easier overall, but has a steeper learning curve. Good luck!

  • @BrendanKOD
    @BrendanKOD 6 місяців тому

"Is elden ring/dark souls hard" I would have to answer Yes But. It's a game made to offer strong challenges with no out out of game options for reducing the difficulty, but in the game, there are lots of options. There is a huge variety of weapons and magic, all of which can offer a small or large shift to how you engage the different threats, and there's also leveling which can let you hit harder, take more hits, and use crazier weapons. There's also spirit summons, which can be hugely helpful. And there's also the co-op option, though keep in mind that in Elden ring, when you summon another player to help you, you're also allowing other players to invade you as well, so it's a risk reward to look into.
The most important thing to remember is not too get too upset by dying, because it's only a short term setback.

part of me loves that this guy is giving the FromSoftware games a try, they are amazing. and part of my is worried that because the games are rather difficult that any chance to dive into the story and lore of these games might be missed. because that is where i think these games relly shine. in intense lore and how in depth it can get, despite so much of it being ambiguous or fragmented.

I’m just gonna say this being a spellcaster and Eldon Ring, at the beginning of the game is probably not the easiest way to go. The game is more suited towards physical damage characters being able to just bash their way through at the early stage and then once you get powerful, then you can start adding magic to your ability list. If you start out as a pure magic user though you’re going to spend long time just trying to get your footing in the game.

I wouldn't beat myself up if I didn't beat the game in time for the DLC. Take your time, learn the lands between, and read item descriptions as you find them. You may not be good at the game now, but you will get there. With Elden Ring, the important thing to remember is that if you come up against something that has you beat hard, you can almost always head in another direction to find something that can get you leveled up a bit. With the game, you SHOULD dive in blind as hell and just try to find whatever feels good. If you can get your hands on them, and you can't decide on a direction, an item called Grace Mimics are meant to point in a random direction and essentially pick a direction to go in for you.

Funny how that cinematic trailer never actually gets used in game. I've always wondered if it was the original opening to the game before they used the one they have now. I say this because typically most Fromsoftware games open with a CGI intro, but Elden Ring doesn't. It opens with a slideshow of concept art and a voice over. Which is really strange.

Just gonna say, nobody is good first time playing these games xd. I spent about 2 hours fighting the tutorial boss of Dark Souls 3 which was my first Souls game. Now I've platinumed several of them. The most important thing is not to get discouraged by failing a lot. Patience and learning are key.

I would advise just diving head first instead of already learning all the meta and the op skills . In my opinion, it's a lot more satisfying to learn and grow as you go. I never played a soul game in my life before Elden ring. I never really imagined it would be my kind of game since i'm pretty bad and easily rage. And boy I sure did rage, a lot. But while I raged, I still wanted more. There was always one more try until I defeated the boss. And I also learned a side of me that I didn't know I had. While I rage easily, I also crave for challenges. To the point where I purposefully make it more difficult for myself by not using certain item or help from certain npc. The path to becoming Elden ring is hard but it is a true journey. Good luck.

Bro. I’m an Elden Lord. But before I became an Elden lord. I had never played a souls game either. But. Because of what I learned in Elden ring, I fell in love with souls games. Don’t be scared. Because confidence is key. You will die in the game. That is a fact. But from each death you’ll learn something. what you can and what you can’t get away with. Fear has no place in a souls game. you will try and you will fail, lots. But when you get a victory over your enemy. There is no better feeling to be had…🫡🤷🏻‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The most important thing in soulsborne games and even more in eldenring is leveling hp early. A level in a damage stat is not that big of a push at the start.
That would be my advice for all Newcomers to the series, because its easy to fall in the "i need more dmg" mentality

Oh! I am so down for this! Here's my advice:
    1. Getting Gud is an actual phenomenon. You just need to keep trying at something, with occasional breaks to level up or just to cool off if you get frustrated. Keep trying until suddenly it clicks and your body and brain knows what to do. And once you do, suddenly the euphoria and excitement of actually winning will be like a drug. Nothing can quite compare to having a game truly challenge you and respect you. And this game WILL respect you and your power. Meet it half way and be patient with yourself
    2. FromSoft games are usually quite fair, actually, and nothing is insurmountable. You will start to get a feel for when you really are under leveled, and when you need to just bull through and go beast mode
    3. Don't do it just for the lulz, don't do this game just for the challenge. This game has truly fascinating lore and themes. Come also for the story and the experience.
    4. Speaking of the story, none of it will be stated outright nor will your hand be held. Pay attention to what the characters are saying and READ ITEM DESCRIPTIONS. Genuinely read them, especially souls. The philosophy of the game was from a man who loved being half fluent in a language, reading something, then trying to puzzle out the pieces he didn't understand. In much the same way, your character is coming in after the big events trying to figure out what happened. There's a gigantic community of people who spend their careers essentially trying to figure out the background lore of these games. It's SO fun.
    5. I recommend not leaning too hard into a mage build. I would go battle mage if I were you, because sometimes enemies need smacked with a stick
    6. Don't be afraid to use spirits to help, and don't be afraid to get multiplayer or npc help for bosses. anyone who tells you that's cheating is a stupid edgelord trying to prove something. It's literally built into the game- use it
    7. FINALLY, the most important advice I can give: don't worry about losing souls. Don't consider dying a fail state. You're in full groundhog day- consider deaths part of the learning process. Even if you died, you learned something. Souls can be farmed and regained.
Have fun! I am totally going to be watching your playthrough!

"As easy as possible" is really a 0 effort build where phantoms do all the job for you. The whole difficulty of the game is to get knowledge on how to play it - it's equivalent of finding "easy mod" in the menu of other games. Usually people get this information by playing the game, but this is indeed a challenge.
