    That has to be one of the most concise and easy to comprehend explaination of alignment and how it affects racing that I have ever heard. Brilliant!

    I think more could've been discussed on castor, and its effect on camber when the car is steered.

    Wouldn't toe-out on the rear allow for better yaw(rotation) while cornering? Then you could set up the car for slight understeer when accelerating and have both great mid turn and accelerate sooner out of a corner

      Toe out on the rear creates oversteer

      @@themarenda of course it does.

      You can do that on low speed tracks with tricky corners but not on high speed tracks since toe will add quite a lot of drag as the vid had also mentioned, would be better to set a more open on diff and it will give the same result without adding the drag

    for me it sounds complicated, i need to think about that information over the night, watch it again, try it on the track, and then watch it one more time :D. but yeah, thank you.

    Good points, some facts left unrevealed, you need to find them for yourselves.

    The comparison of caster angle to that of a shopping cart is incorrect. A shopping cart has no "caster" but it does have "trail", because the steering axis does not go through to rotational axis of the tyre. At first glance these may seem like they have the same effect, but not really, because they add dampening or returning force in different proportions and give different feel.

    Camber affects cornering speeds. But does caster affect the speed in any part of the track? Or is it adjusted mainly to driver's preference?

    • @gozinta82
      @gozinta82 9 років тому

      +Aireisor simracing n drifting I don't think it affects the speed, but it might when it's going through bumps (changing the angle of the wheel as it moves up/down). Been trying to find out more about these types of things as it boggles my mind too!

      Usually sports cars are set up from factory with high castor angles, around 6-8 degrees. This is to aid stability in going straight, I believe. That's why on a shopping car there is very little castor, no stability needed. More castor means more effort is needed which could be a downside, for comfort or for long race distances, so it's a compromise

      Caster affects camber while cornering. Look more into this please, as i know too little myself to be of any help

    Wait. I've been told to run a bit of negative toe in the front to increase responsiveness

    • @buzzlightyear6904
      @buzzlightyear6904 7 років тому

      if I'm not mistaken, negative toe in equals positive toe out which is stated in the video that it should make the car enter the corners more easily.

    • @farmboyfanGaming

    • @retroybd2780
      @retroybd2780 8 років тому

      It aligns the wheel base measurement. The wheels move in closer to each other when Castor angle is set.

    • @nathanpitman4547
      @nathanpitman4547 7 років тому

      Sigh...it does alot more than that....and it also changes the camber as the wheel is turned...hopefully they discuss this in the next parts about afraid I am about to waste my time on. ...and how do you adjust the ackerman???
