Came here bc I had the EXACT picture as a baby above my bed 30years ago....learned more about painting in this vid and now going to paint a wall 🤣
Same !!!!!! I think about that painting all the time actually haha and i recently found my way back to god.. he’s def doing a new thing over the whole earth 🥰🥰
@@SoundMindBibleMeditationMe too as a little boy more than 50 years ago. Must have been very popular back then?
There was also a painting of a sad looking dog with a brick background I remember as a child but have not seen it in years.
Just learned the hard way. I painted my kitchen last winter. Touched up a few spots after removing an outlet cover (which tore up the first applied paint in the winter) and the new touchup paint went on differently. Shadowy. Just realized painting in different temperatures will yield different results
Great explanation of what happens over time. Thank you!
Thanks mate. Well spoken and produced
Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Thank you for a clear & informative video. I needed this tip to touch up my wall.
So happy to have helped!
@@mchalespaintersinc.4159 Hi McHale - thanks for the video. For larger patches (4'x4' on a large, difficult to paint wall), what would you recommend? I'm thinking of doing just a section of the wall with a roller floor to ceiling. If you agree, should the roller start/end lines be feathered with a brush using a similar technique? Thanks!
would foam roller work
would adding water reduce the sheen of the touchup with eggshell of an old wall if use leftover can of original
Please tell me what color that wall is I love it , Thanks
Awesome tips! So much less complex with such better results
Thanks!
@@mchalespaintersinc.8848 thank you so much too, I used your method to cover 4 big patches where paint had been stripped down to the plaster,
In the end, my landlord refunded my full deposit ! So thank you very much !
@@thirdplanetman9468 So happy I was able to help and that it worked out for you! :)
Bro dropped the bucket 1:40
Lol
Lol nah he was holding the strap
Thank you for the advice for sheen touch ups. It has saved me a-lot of work. 21/11/2021
My painter used a roller and then of course cut with horizontal brush marks on some dado rail. How would you get around this.
Hi, The shitty painter I hired left cut-in brush marks and also fiber boogers on wall from rolling Semi-Gloss on Non-Textured Smooth bathroom wall. After wall dried, I tried to correct by sanding the boogers out then proceeded to use a Purdy White Dove 1/4" smooth nap 4" long roller to touchup the 10 areas. After drying, NOW I see the paperback sized rectangle roller marks all over the wall, even though I tried to "feather" the rectangle with the roller to avoid lines. Any advice on how I can clean this mess up from step A to Z?....
You might know the answer to this (??) I live in an apt. The walls in here are white or off white, flat paint in every room. We are not allowed to paint in here. When there's been a mark on the walls I'll try to clean it, however the paint comes right off when it gets wet. No matter what product I use and no matter how gently I'm trying ti clean the walls, it's almost as if the paint melts off. At times it almost seems like the drywall underneath comes off too. Is this from not priming the walls or something? Colors also transfer, a pair of black gloves when worn touching the wall leave a black mark, I used a red dishtowel at one point to gently wipe something away & it left a red mark. I'm at the point where I've told everyone here to just not touch the walls at all. I'm not sure now how to even clean them if the paint comes off if they just as much get a drop of water.
Great tip! Never heard that one before.
Glad it was helpful!
I knew it your right its the sheen. What if you use a roller 🤔
I wish I saw this yesterday! 🥴😬
Ahhh shoot! Hope this helps for the future!
If you screwed up and did a brush stroke how do you fix?
I have a wall i need to touch up at my house. my wife washed some thing off of it and it messed up the paint. Do I need to do the whole wall again? I still have the same paint but I don’t think I have enough to do the whole wall
You may not need to. If you follow the steps in the video and try out the method, see if it blends well. As I mentioned depending on the type of paint and how long its been on the wall, there is a chance it won’t blend perfectly. As long as you mix the paint well and try the technique in the video it is definitely worth it to try!
What about washable flat instead of eggshell?
Great tip. Thank you!
So glad to hear!
can we use a small roller?...Brush or Roller...Which one would get better results
He used a brush.
Hi Vijay,
In my experience the best results for a small area is with the brush. The reason is that the area is limited so if there is a minor difference in colour or sheen from time passing the surface area reflecting that difference will be limited.
If you have a larger area then a roller is a better option.
How about stippling with a damp sponge?
Is a satin finish easier to patch than others?
Hi Cesar,
Flat typically touches up the easiest but it depends on the type of paint. Definitely worth a try to touch it up before repainting the whole wall.
Very helpful thanks for the tips :)
You bet!
Great video
Help, I am 14 and I had to paint my new room a few weeks ago. The matte brown paint looked great and still looks good. I did 2 coats of green paint on 2 of my walls and I saw dried fibers. It was in multiple areas. Primered. Then dry. Kinda. Looks horrible and flashes like hell!!!☹️ Like gloss and a halo around the edge. Tried different things and I feel like it is only looking worse. Yesterday I took the paint roller and rolled most of the wall and still see flashing. The room was painted a few weeks ago. The paint is glossy. Didn't pick out so idk. How do I fix the paint flash? I hate going through this and hate my life so much. What a mistake I am!
You are not a mistake! Congrats on being only 14 and trying to tackle a tough job like this; most of us adults find this type of work extremely frustrating too and we are not very good at it. I have made many mistakes painting recently. Good news is at 14 or 15, you can just put up some posters (lol). Or maybe paint all the walls in the matte brown. gl.
Awesome. New subscriber
Nice tip. Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip!
I just built a new house with white walls and during the move in we got some marks on the walls so this is really helpful to know (i would had done strokes without knowing). What type paint brush do you recommend for touch up painting?
So glad you found this helpful! For touch ups, you can just use the cheap kind or whatever you have. My go to is the Brilliant Finish brush 2 1/2 or 3 inch.
Omg same , new house but I damage a door and I already filled it up and sand it now need to paint it but lookin for videos to do it right . And my walls got marked up too with items we moved in.
try rubbing with a damp terry cloth, the marks should come off, if not then touchup
@@hollypatrick1050 magick erasers work best
why not use small roller instead of brush for touchup?
That's what I did and you can see the roller strokes.. is why I'm here.
Very helpful!
awesome
Wil this technique work to fix bad touch-ups that were done incorrectly? Flat interior paint, same color/sample left over from build less than 4 months old. Current touchups appear darker than wall.
Hi Natasha,
Make sure to mix up paint thoroughly before attempting to try the touchup. If the different colour persists, it's likely a cheaper quality of paint and will require a repaint for the entire wall.
We all have new builds lol. Good that ain’t the only one that had some touch ups to do lol
Damn I forgot about this method and just lightly painted and then dabbed with a sponge... it’s flat paint so wish me luck.
The sponge technique works well too :) Best of luck!
Good advice!
Thanks! You are A Gem!
Did he just drop the paint at 1:39🤣
Ha ha! That's hilarious! But no, it was just the way the video was edited lol
I'm in love with somebody who doesn't even know my name 🎵 😳👀 Thank you for the tips
Pretty sure it dripped off the brush at 1:27
sorry 1:25
LMAO Well spotted. That’s what happens when you wave your brush around while talking lol. Good thing I had a drop sheet!
strainer???
Felt like watching Bob Ross LOL!
How ya doing
Thanks
No problem
why not use a small roller?
A small mohair paint roller should make a better job than a brush
It was difficult to see the results. It would have been nice if you would have zoomed in closely at the before touch-up, wet touch-up, and final result.
Professional painters never wipe a brush on the rim of a paint can!
