The funny thing is that the voice says, "You are now free to move about the country," but because I had the tendency to mishear things, my 8-year-old self thought he said, "You are now free to boo-to-baw the country," because the voice spoke too fast to me.
dtoeppen Yeah, you’re correct but most people probably didn’t notice. All West Coast locations. I didn’t get to do the fun “location” shots. I got to shoot in rush hour San Francisco traffic!
@racerx8228 No... half of the scenes were shot in Southern California and half in Northern California. That scene was shot during the Northern California day and I believe it's Pigeon Point, south of Half Moon Bay...
This was thee most freightening commercial. It's spooky. What year did this begin? What year did it end? That dinged for years. I can still hear it. It haunts me.
Some of them were only shown locally... and the company asked us to not post certain commercials. I did one for the opening of Atlanta and they requested that of us. This one, no, but this one was done long before social media became popular so perhaps that is why I was allowed to post this.
Here is what the Emancipation Proclamation and Southwest Airlines have in common: They both meant that slaves are free to move about the country but white folks opposed to freed blacks moving nomadically in the Southern United States in the 1860s. Even before the 1960s came along, blacks were free to travel about the country, but they had to stay away from white-populated municipalities in the U.S. In other words, Southwest Airlines called itself "The Symbol of Freedom" in the 1990s, but America, on the opposite, wasn't even like that even today. There were race riots and racial conundrums so that there could only be freedom for white people. The Emancipation Proclamation was like the Southwest Airlines of the 1860s, giving African-Americans a chance to move about the nation.
“You are now free to move about the country” is probably the best tag line I’ve ever heard
"You are now free to move about the country."
