What?! I always impressed by the fact of how many people are interested your vid’s… I would like sometime see here 500k of watches here! Grate content. Thank you for the new video and new portion of knowledge! Greets Paul
Thanks, man, though please remember: I'm not a mastering engineer and I tried to stress it out in the vid. I'm throwing ideas for you, but remember to see mastering engineers vids on YT. I pointed Streaky at the end BUT actually Robert Babicz is lurking around my channel, so let's hope we can discuss things also with him again :)
I am more into hardware mastering or hybrid (most of the time). Gullfoss, Goodhertz , Sonible is what I am using in hybrid setup. Hardware wise I use Rupert Neve, SPL, Bettermaker, Dangerous and Maag stuff. Recently I started using a preamp in my mastering chain after watching Robert Babicz analog mastering chain....cheers
Nice Chain :) but i still like the Pro Q3 ( in near future Q4) for the Surgical EQ and in my opinion you exchange the Scarlett4 EQ with the Knif Soma. In combination with the Elysia Alpha Master it is a huge Shot for your Chain....
Washed out you mean flat? Yep, it'just a starting point to go further :) I haven't made a finished master in this vid and I stressed it out a couple of times, also at the very end of the vid!
@@Robert_Babicz , I've said in the vid that I think the mix improved on the mastering stage and is going the right direction, that's it. I'll probably spend more time on polishing the mix, there's need of more juice in the low end department, also some instruments/groups are still not separated best, so there's still some work to do. I'm happy with the song itself, that's true, but it's not a finished master by any means and I wouldn't try to perform the whole process of mastering in a YT vid. That's why I stressed in the very beginnign that it's more about showing my approach and my chain that delivering a ready master in a vid. I also stressed out at the ned that I'm still learning and trying to add real mixing and mastering skills to my professional portfolio, which means I'm aware it's not fully there, Rob. Plus: I can't master or mix or compose/produce 100% in front of camera, too much focus and time are needed to deliver this and it has to be something happening off the lens, at least in my case...
There's no need to use lufs and they won't affect your master before the limiter. Leave around 6 dB of headroom before getting into limiter and set it the right way. Too short attack and release times can distort the sound, remember that!
Jako-tako.
Dajesz radę! Super

What is a good lufs to mix @ before going into smart limit , my drums are usually distort a little too much afterward
