I grew up enjoying European classical music, American Jazz, Kentucky Bluegrass music, and in my twenties I became enamored of classical Spanish music. A few years later I began to appreciate forms of Flamenco guitar music. Then one day in at 60 years of age I heard/ watched a UA-cam videos of various Oud artists from Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia. I was entranced, enthralled, and enchanted by this instrument. It is hauntingly beautiful!

Duygulara hitap ediyor. Sözlerim duyana.

The first time I heard the magical voice of the oud was over four decades ago. It was a piece of Egyptian traditional music I happened to hear on the radio, and I was immediately captivated and entranced. Since then, the king of instruments has only gained in its power to stir my heart and uplift my spirit, and the superbly talented Negar Bouban plays it exquisitely.

    1. Persian Music and Poetry is not just a type of art for Iranians, but it preserves and reveals their history, philosophy, their mythology and how their intellectuals view the world.
    2. Persian Music and Poetry are one of the oldest (if not the oldest) type of art which is still practiced today. They are the roots of poetry and music from Chinese and Indian to Arabic, Turkish and from Greek to European cultures.
    3. Expressed in the tradition of Darvishism/Sufism, which in term is rooted in Mithra-ism and teachings of Zarathustra and Mani, throughout centuries, their poetry and music have been polished and enriched by other cultures too (and are still to open for modifications and perfections).
