I closed my eyes and just envisioned so many ancient lifetimes; the Sahara and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. What a magical feeling, it helped me drift right into sleep, thank you for this
Thank you very much for this offering, for agreeing to share this precious moment of communication with the invisible, the sound is not seen, through your inspiration given with your eyes carefully closed so as not to lose anything that this sacred world wanted to transmit to you. When we listen, a person called a "musician" cannot forget that the first thing you give us is your happiness in juggling the infinite variety of possible melodic formulas, in India, this part is called "Alap", and it is one of the most important. It must establish the framework and the character of the mode you have chosen. I am a classical musician, but also a practitioner of classical music from North India, you must certainly understand me. In this music there is the same concern, the same requirement. You have offered us to live a precious moment, for that, I send you my deep and sincere gratitude. I also take this opportunity to tell you (I am of Swiss nationality) that in this Western world full of pretension and arrogance, many unfortunately have a total lack of knowledge of the true values of the culture of the world that you represent. I am deeply saddened by this, and know that I must not be the only one. And given the dramatic period that we must live through, I would like to add that I do not share in any way the positions and threats of a country not very far from yours, which only demonstrates to us the monstrous capacity of its government (no, of all its inhabitants) to want to ignore the diversity of cultures and to respect them. It represents the total decline of the values of our human society. I think of you, and with force, I condemn what is being plotted against your country. My first real friends were Iranians, Shahram Nazeri, Kayhan Kalhor and so many others, enriched me, fulfilled me. Rûmî the same. Yes, I think of you and I pray that the outrages and injustices that are on the horizon of certain thoughts, do not reach you. With Love and compassion for all of you.
thank you very much Ross, for listening, caring, and commenting! And the Ouds Sebastian is making are surely remarkable, expanding the potentials of musical expression on the instrument.
@@boubannegar I salute you both, you are both precious. maybe one of you is willing to tell us in what tuning is this excellent tune. Thank you and good luck.
@@Audionomono Thanks for the kind words! by 'in what tuning' were you thinking of the modal content? in that case, it is in a mode that in Persian music is labelled as 'Dashtestani' and 'Bayat-e Kord' both being subsidiaries of Shour.
@@boubannegar Thank you for the answer and for your time , and for the information you gave in it, but perhaps I did not formulate my question correctly. I wanted to know what notes the oud is tuned to. In other words, how do you tune your oud in this performance?
@@Audionomono Oh, I see! I almost always tune my Oud from treble to bass as follows: c g d a G D (the two bass courses one octave lower than the 2nd and 3rd strings). The Oud I have has 11 strings; five double courses and one single bass. Is that now the information you were looking for? I hope it was helpful :)
So powerful, and the sheer beauty of the instrumentation that transports you across time and space. It definitely makes me think that when these notes are related to "evil" in the Western world it surely must be in relation to a fear of the Arabic and Persian world. There is nothing evil in this tuning, nor the notes, this is God speaking to us in a language we can understand.
thank you for writing and reflecting on the music! 🌷I personally agree with what you wrote about this music being able to transport you across time and space, and I take it as a compliment when people feel it through my performance as well.

Lovely masterful playing. I love the sound of modal music. Not like a western jazz approach to modes but a much older one where each mode has distinctive “flat” and “sharp” elements. I met Erkan Ogur in the 90s and he showed me some of these materials. He used a regular flat pick. I have never seen a flat pick with a handle. Where can I get one?
As an algerian immigrant in france ,’i still not feel home after 23 years and know very well i’ll never because of racisme , and i don’t give a shit about it. I know who i am and where home is and i refuse to desintegrate my self to please to whom talking about integration. I’m a human with roots not to be forgeten and not a shameless machine able to erase identity.
I can very well understand what you mean and how you feel. Unfortunately, in the recent years it has gone even beyond racism. Most people don't feel empathic towards one another any more, thinking of life as a competition to kill 'others' out of, so that they get a better chance to win themselves better options of power, wealth, etc. and as you wrote, there they become shameless machines...
The oud is not like any guitar I play. Fingering is harder to hold and needs strong fingers. The 'hammer' strokes are deliberate and unforgiving. The rewards of finally getting right is immeasurable.
Magnifica interpretación
