I love both of these women and they’re great together. honest, open and able to talk about their relationship and themselves very easily. Miss them both from their respective sports.

Wow so impressed by the host in how adeptly and tactfully he navigates these topics that are lighthearted on the surface but he had a way in eliciting some very illuminating aspects of sue and Megan’s psyche. But also respect to sue and Megan for willing to be so open and vulnerable. This is true queer representation.
The level of intellect here is through the roof. What a show. Navigating some tough topics. Impressive people.

These are two of my favorite athletes ever. They both stand for something. I'm not really a soccer fan but I'm a huge Megan Rapinoe stan. I admire her strength and courage and think she is fucking awesome. I really like these two as a power couple and wish them all the best!

Pinoe is someone I will respect for life for what she has done for equal pay and awareness of the injustices people of color experience. Her humor is quick and spot on.
Equal pay….she never drew equal crowds…never brought the organization huge revenue like men’z soccer. She is a whiny washed up last-kick luzer! Can someone tell her she doesn’t have a weenis she just acts like one!
Oh please! Equal pay for what? Men’s and women’s game are totally different in their levels of competitiveness, skill, and excitement with men’s having way more of each. It is what it is. Get over it. Get ready for these levels to increase in women’s sports though as men, er trans women, start to fill up the rosters of women’s team. You wanted it, you got it.

Really enjoyed learning about these two on a more personal level. The flow of the conversation seemed very natural and honest.
They're precious! I'm always rooting for them as a couple, even though their playing careers have ended.
This convo is SO refreshing b/c we don't get to hear such truths being told so blatantly even in this day and age. I've been out since 1995, and around 1997 I was a mascot for a professional fast pitch women's softball team in NC, and I would go out drinking with some of the players who were totally gay but not out publicly. And they would talk about the actual policies of the league that demanded they not be vocal about their sexuality b/c the league was struggling as women's sports do, and the higher ups wanted to push a "family environment" to boost ticket sales. This was heartbreaking for me, b/c these athletes were my friends and they would tell me how they envied me & my friends b/c we could be as out as we were, and they felt trapped by their jobs in this regard. You could tell it really messed with them to not be able to live their truths due following their other passion, playing sport. Glad things have changed (at least for women athletes. We gotta break through that ceiling more for the men though. Whack.) Also, 16:13 what Megan is saying here is important, you'll notice they STILL do not push traditional butch/masc looking women as the stars in football even if they clearly are the best players on the pitch with VERY few exceptions like Sam Kerr, it's the conventionally "pretty" ones that become the stars, see Alex Morgan, Alisha Lehmann, Leah Williamson, etc. This kinda just proves that still Homophobia & Sexism are alive and still thriving. We still want/need our women to be feminine & "attractive". If Megan hadn't been so vocal & political she wouldn't have gained the notoriety she did. Butch women just aren't allowed the spotlight regardless of skillset.

Thank you for asking the wedding question. I’ve been a fan of these two both individually and as a couple for a long time. When Megan retired I was like now they can get married. And I’ve been waiting for it. I’m glad they both want it and glad it will happen but the wait is killing me

The fundamental difference between basketball and soccer is that basketball is a positive position sport, while soccer is a tentative position sport. Positive position sports, basketball, football lend themselves to scripted plays, and things like loss of possession are critically watched. I would think that it would be very difficult for a PP coach to try to coach in a TP sport. They have little or no control, and I think for a lot of them their heads would explode. Sue is great in PP basketball. She sees the floor, people go to where she directs them, she makes passes, and other players screen for the shooter in a very planned way. In soccer Megan who has the ball is trying to keep possession. Her teammates are trying to get open to give her space to pass to. She must react to where they are going depending on how they are defended. Then she must make a pass that it almost never as accurate as a basketball pass. Most of the time it doesn't work. "Hockey on the radio sounds like one long mistake." and soccer is worse.

I've played soccer and been a fan all my life. In 2019 I couldn't get enough of the USWNT. I was so proud of them. I watched them since '91 when Michelle Akers was dominant. Now because of Megans "activism" I want nothing to do with the USWNT. And millions of Americans feel the same way. The number of Americans paying attention to the USWNT has dwindled radically. What are you going to do to win us back? Do you even care to? We used to have the best womens team in the world but in just the last 4 years Japan, England, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy have left the USWNT in the dust.

They were excellent players. I know Megan caught a lot of heat, and she says there's a special place in hell for people that cheered her injury. I didn't, but I was glad to see her go.
