  • We tumble down the rabbithole of the global match-fixing scandal that’s quietly tearing apart the U.S. Olympic fencing team, ahead of their trip to Paris this month. And we investigate how it all connects to a spiraling refereeing crisis that takes us from Harvard and Princeton to the very top of the International Olympic Committee - and Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Where one of the world’s 100 richest people, Alisher Usmanov, has allegedly exported a culture of bribery and corruption that’s scared pretty much everybody in sabre fencing away from talking, on the record. Until now.

    Unfortunately even they talking about this are missing the point, it’s not the referees it’s not the Russian oligarch that’s the problem, it’s the sport… you cannot call yourself a sport if the referee has such a big impact on the sport or in some cases like the saber more than the athletes themselves. Catching them or ousting them will not change a lot but either changing the rules or implementing AI referring would be the only solution. The conditions right now will always create a suitable situation for cheating in the whole sport.

    • @drysabre2242
      @drysabre2242 20 днів тому

      Finally at least one sober comment. This f*n Pablo smears Mitchel and Stetsiv to get more views, and I hope Oleg will file a lawsuit against this idiot. Chip popularity comes eaysy. Yes, sabre need changes. One possibility is to get rid of right of way, and turn it to slashing epee. Not a big dill, will solve all the problems. The other - yes - AI,. I think this is more realistic, since sabre community strongly resists the idea of abandoning right of way. Meanwhile, live the kids alone. Bulling Tatyana and Mitchel is a shame. They, as athletes, has nothing to do with anything potentially wrong. Shame on Pablo, and I can't be happy with Andrew at all when it comes to smearing Mitchel.

      @@geoffnaggie961no offense, but you Padlo and Andrew care about their channel first. You, I guess has nothing to do with our sport and your opinion doesn't matter.

      @@drysabre2242 i don't care about their channel. But if what they said is true then yeah it's barely a sport. I actually watched some sabre today with my wife. All the flailing and flexing for the judges is kinda adorable 🤣

    I can't agree more with Pablo. He doesn't give a sh!t about fencing, and he knows nothing about fencing. But he messes around with statistics.

      In the video there is a reference to US Fencing, actually denying "statistical proof" of cheating .... beside that statistics cannot produce cause-effect proof at all

    Entitled rich millenials playing some stupid sport nobody cares about crying that they lost. Who could’ve seen this coming?
    Man the Olympics suck.
