This was an amazing interview. People focus on one detail about her personal life, but her journey is amazing. I’d like to say I’m impressed by her resilience and drive to win during the last year, because the pressure must’ve been crushing from all sides and she took a step forward and owned it. Incredible mindset
Awesome to see the amazing Ali Krieger! Followed her journey for years & remember so many key milestones…from her clinical PK to win the 2011 quarterfinal against Brazil in the 2011 WWC in Dresden, Germany (a game everyone remembers as the Rapinoe assist to Wambach to tie the game in the last seconds of Extra time) to her being the last to touch the ball in the 2019 WWC in Lyon, France to her last triumphant final game in the NWSL championship this past season…pure lieben!
Please do a thousand more of these shows!!! The interaction between everyone is fabulous, you literally feel like you’re sitting around with a bunch of your friends just listening to their stories. Awesome podcasts!!
Wow this was an amazing interview and format- I felt like I really got to know the person behind the player- I’m an OG USWNT fan and would love you to interview more retired players in this setting. Perfect length and I loved all the personalities present for sure- very cool dynamic.
Kate is such a good interviewer. Also love the dynamic of Clint Charlie and Mo being a part of this conversation too. These men bring such a big part of a fun culture and I love them being here
Ali is absolutely correct. The best team doesn't always mean you have the best players at each position. In the years the US women won, there were talented strikers or midfielders etc. all around the world. The USWNT has always managed to get the right funky eclectic mix of complimentary talent to work well together. This is their strength. The talent pool is deep and a creative coach would have a field day with this fact. Instead, Vlatko essentially wasted 5 years relying on the individual brilliance of our players to hide his lack of technica/tacticall ability. He had no idea HOW to construct this team because he didn't understand what made them successful in the first place. I'm hopeful Emma will find the right mix,
@cbsgolazo. Thank you so much for this episode. Ali has always been one of my favorite female footballers. She was one of the best ever to do it. Im so proud of her coming through the storm and shining. I hate that she got cut in 2017 . And also never knew why. And to hewr Clints feelings in his lwst games. Wow. This episode was special. Thank you
We all know Vlatko was the issue. From player selection to tactical setup to team mentality. Like Ali said, her club coach got it figured out and won it all in 8 mos & Vlatko had 4-5 yrs
❤❤❤❤❤ Ali you go girrrl.. ❤❤❤❤ you deserve to be loved for real and not by a cheater. You will do well in your career, you will do well in whatever you do! ❤❤❤❤ from your number one fan in Melbourne, Australia❤❤❤❤
She was the reason to get out and watch FFC Frankfurt games live at the Brentanobad… love her as a player, as a person and - I admit - l probably had a crush on her!
Just wanted to thank everyone who does this show so much it really is very enjoyable and informative and has allowed the public to get to know our US heroes! Also, Ali Krieger is super beautiful and one of my favorite of all times!
The last question to her was "when is the book coming out" hell ya! do it! And title it ",,,And all the things..." by Ali Krieger. A phrase she uses a lot and fits her personality perfectly. Rarely read about someone or watch them in their career do SO much, in fact too much. But the ambition level is startling.
For me the way Ashlyn and Sophia Bush acted towards Ali was disgusting. Especially Sophia, who was whining in the media about how CHMM cheated on her, and yet here she is, ruining Ali's family, and Ali&Ashlyn have kids! Sophia is just a hypocrite and a horrible person, I never liked her, now I know I had good taste when it comes to her, and it was for a reason!
Love the show, but y'all need another woman co-host to balance it out, b/c when the three guys get on their bruhhhhh tip "We're ALL on the couch togetherrrrrrrr!!" collective laughter fits, it turns into a big ole bro love fest. Nothing wrong with that per se, all seem like nice sweet guys, but it just kinda sucks up the energy in the room.
I'm usually pro a balance but these three guys are so open, sweet and respectful to guests and one another. I actually love the feel of this. They're like a bunch of beautiful big brothers. It's different and it works. They're four gold medal LISTENERS xx love it
I agree 100%. If interviewing a male soccer athlete with 3 women on that couch, the disconnect would still exist. Try to balance it all out please. Ali literally has NO ONE on this episode who can relate to her as a female pro athlete
The fellas didn’t wanna hear about her personal life, until they found out they might have a chance😂😂😂😂 even wanting to submit their applications😂😂 how could you not love guys?!😂😂
Just because you are the best doesn't mean you work well with others. I always said the world cup group was a bad bunch of girls. They did not like one another and there were cliques. I'm not impressed with this line up for Gold Cup. I see the US struggling. Not because the other teams are better, but because the girls cannot work with one another for that common goal. Emma Hayes has her work cut out for her and it won't be resolved before the Olympics.
Spain had the best players and the best team.....and it's impossible to win when the culture was one of agendas other than playing to win......Rapinoe and Morgan ensured that they were not focused on winning! Too bad Ertz couldn't go out on top....she's pure class and the true heart and soul the team should have modeled themselves after....her missing the previous months through injury and childbirth really hurt her impact on the young guns! Mal Swanson being hurt also messed up our attack as she had been in great form and had experience!
The US media give a lot of prominence to women’s soccer because the USWNT were very successful. Let see how much of that love was real and if they get the same level coverage now the USWNT become a mediocre team.
There have been EIGHT women’s World Cups played in history since 1991. The USWNT has won 4 of them. They are FAR from “mediocre” because of one bad tournament. Getting rid of their former coach is going to make ALL the difference. I bet cold hard cash that they’re top podium at the Olympics this summer.
@@jordanmilam502 also everyone seems to forget we were missing so many crucial players that we will most likely have back for the olympics if all keeps trending the way it is. we didn't even have our best team. and then you add emma hayes, we should be a totally different team than this past summer.
This is a pretty weird ask. No team gets the same level of attention (media or otherwise) when they’re not getting the W’s. Complaining about fair weather fans is different, but it’s not the media’s job to be fans.
As a sports fanatic, I'm embarrassed to admit that I didnt know who Ali was or what sport she played. That aside, is anyone going to talk about the elephant in the room? After doing research on Ali, she appears to be a white woman who was married to another white woman, and they adopted two black babies. Call me crazy, but the interview would have been more interesting to hear about those dynamics instead of listening to an ex soccer player talk about sports.
The entitlement issue she alludes to, both the veterans and the new kids coming in thinking the should start... That's why a manager from outside of the US structure is so important for the USWNT. Entitlement has been baked into this program from 25 years... And in many cases, for good reason! Some of the early squads helped shape the future of the sport, on both the men's and women's side and they deserved some respect and security. Those days need to be over now. The rest of the world is just too good to hand roster spots to "the usual suspects" of any generation.
I see where Krieger is coming from and respect her point of view. However, her comments on her experience when she first came into camp and comparing it to these new kids coming into a camp boils down to being a generational difference. Unfortunately, this generation are extremely entitled (problem that Krieger also pointed out) most don't believe that they need to fight for a spot they want it handed to them. They don't want to grind day in & day out to work for it like back in the day. No work ethic, no sacrifice, no humbleness only = failure. So yes, seems generational to me & unfortunately not only in sports. Anywas, now that Pinoe isn't there, it should make things easier, & with Hayes old school ethic & 0 issues saying it how it is, these kids either buckle up & work for it or they walk away to where they won't get told anything & be around yes people, but will eventually affect their growth in the game.
i think the biggest saving grace to change the culture you're talking about is emma hayes. she's gonna single handedly save this team. she's a no-nonsense leader that this team needs and that vlatko definitely was not. she's not gonna tolerate any laziness/entitlement, especially with the pressure and expectations this team brings not only the players but also her as a coach. she has too much pride as a coach/leader and too much respect for the uswnt's image and history to not build the best team she can.
This was an amazing interview. People focus on one detail about her personal life, but her journey is amazing. I’d like to say I’m impressed by her resilience and drive to win during the last year, because the pressure must’ve been crushing from all sides and she took a step forward and owned it. What a class act Ali is. Someone you’d want both on a team and in life.
This filming location is so fantastic. I love that space! It allows the guest to be comfortable and speak freely. Great job!
Awesome to see the amazing Ali Krieger! Ali is the most adorable person. look how chilled she is even after all what happened with Ashlyn. you go girl!
Sounds like rich therapy, you go Ali. Wishing Ashlyn well too. Both deserve all the best life has to offer.
you go girl. i love ali. i hope everything goes well for her and her kids ❤
Also Ashley’s kids ..
Ugh how can Ashlyn do this to her. She deserves better, the world ❤
She's got it hard for that sweet, sweet clout.
"The best team doesn't always mean you have to have the best players on it."
Yes! This needed to be the title of the video so it stands out.
take real madrid mourinho period as an ex

I really enjoyed the Carli Lloyd and Midge Purce interviews as well.
Ali is always World Class! Fantastic interview
Great interview good balance on questions personal vs professional....Ali is awesome still font know how she perseveres

Ali!! Thank you for talking about therapy!! Very amazing. Therapy is great.
Ali is amazing. I love the commitment and honesty. She seems to be in a calm place. Her energy and vibe seem so genuine.
Much love and respect Ali!! ❤✊
Now that was a studio full of really cool people ❤
EVERY PERSON SHOULD UNDERSTAND WHAT ALI IS SAYING AND WORKING ON HERE 19:41 . Crucial personal development!
It shows how strenghful she is. We must be mature during a relationship and even when it ends, specially having Kids.
The lucky person who will have a personal relationship with her and also to have her as a friend
“How does a hat from Goodwill sound?!?” Took me out!

Kriggy you're not only a good player but also beautiful. You deserve the best and all the best it's about to happen every day.
Loved this episode! Such a fun atmosphere, and Ali is a fantastic guest.
We love you Ali!!!❤
Krieger was a world class player .. easily one of the most consistent WNT players

Ali is beautiful, even prettier than ten years ago😮
Triathlete Scott Tinley wrote a book about being a retiring athlete. SDSU
Ali, a strong, beautiful, smart woman
Love the show, but y'all need another woman co-host to balance it out, b/c when the three guys get on their bruhhhhh tip "We're ALL on the couch togetherrrrrrrr!!" collective laughter fits, it turns into a big ole bro love fest. Nothing wrong with that per se, all seem like nice sweet guys, but it just kinda sucks up the energy in the room.
I agree another female athlete should replace one of the guys
I disagree, it's good as it is. If it wasn't, y'all wouldn't be watching it.

But I think at the beginning of the video they were welcoming Ali like she is a new addition to their crew unless I got that wrong.
Ali you’re a bada$$!!! Wish you all the best!!
Ali 🥰🥰 the only player other than Mia Hamm that I have multiple jerseys for. Looove you!
Hey!! Ali- U- Go Woman!! U- Got This!! So Proud of the Person U/R!! & Have Become!! 🏳️🌈 🇺🇲
Ali is a superwoman, for sure!!!!
I still watch those 2019 World Cup games in which the US women overcame all obstacles to win it all!
I'm not sure we have the best players anymore.
Ali fine afff boyyy❤
Make me so sad to hear that she and her wife separated. I’m straight, but for some reason this one bothered me. They seemed so in love💔
Ali you are the best...I look up to you...best female soccer player of all times...sad for the divorce...just a phase...
Great interview. I just wish it wasn’t so bro-y. They egg each other on and are in their own world sometimes.
The fellas didn’t wanna hear about her personal life, until they found out they might have a chance😂😂😂😂 even wanting to submit their applications😂😂 how could you not love guys?!😂😂

Where’s the comments about being open to 100% of the dating pool? That’s a big announcement.
she's bi? i think everyone knew that
She was joking and has since walked the joke back. She’s dating another woman already 😂
no hate, but could they all be sitting farther apart? 😅
Yes she is a class act & very mature. unlike her x & new friend
