I really love the sound of the T444E.

Me, too!!! They are smoother and quieter than a 7.3 Powerstroke. Because they look like a Powerstroke, many people think they are the same. The T444E is a much better engine. A Powerstroke would heat up and destroy itself if it had to run down the road like a 444.

I’ve seen some of these busses in manual transmissions before. I think I even rode on one. The things ride like a dream.

We still get an occasional stick shift, but they are getting hard to find. One hasn't been made since 2007. I'm finding a few older ones, but they all seem to have transmission problems. Bad synchronizers cost as much to fix as an automatic transmission. While you have the transmission out, you might as well put in a new clutch. That costs as much as rebuilding an automatic. Besides being difficult to find drivers for a stick shift bus, they are more expensive to keep on the road. Automatics have came a very long ways in my lifetime!!

My school has had a 1995 bluebird international that’s been running routes daily for 3 months because there regular bus got it’s engine destroyed

3 months to fix an engine? They must get paid by the hour. 1995? DT466? Or T444E? That would be an old mechanical DT, if that is what is in it. Sell us that bus when your school is finished with it!
