Sam's Journey is finally out. I recommend the Famicom Edition and an HD-938 to play on the go or at home with a controller. Don't forget to hold reset when you power down to keep your Save File. Keep an eye out for Orange Island and Piopow coming out very soon.
There's truly some very cool games still being made for NES. I'm hoping more of these talented creators try their hand at making SNES titles in the future, because I can only imagine what they could do on that system.
It would be great to see more SNES homebrew. Its my understanding that while its a bit harder to program for than the NES there are plans to create a software to make it way easier. So you may see your wish come true soon.
@@TheGameBeaters Yeah, it's already started with the recent announcement that NESmaker is about to add a "SNESmaker" mode too, which should be coming sometime in 2025. :D
Sam's Journey & Summer Island Battle Tactics look fun. I've never played a home brew game. Will have to pick some up when I pick up my clone NES console
Agreed completely. Love the look and feel of it, but it *desperately* needs some variation in level visuals/aesthetics... it's the game's only major weakness imo.
Anybody else to the point where, when they see a thumbnail for a video like this, no matter who made it they hear St1ka's signature Stimpy-like voice in their head? In fact I think I first saw OverObj (pronounced phonetically) on St1ka's channel. Oratorio is pretty much a demake of Rez. If you like Oratorio, it behooves you to check out Rez as well -- on PS2, Dreamcast, or the remaster Rez Infinite on modern eighth and ninth gen platforms, PC, Quest 2, etc.
lol I like St1ka and his channel though I never did see the OverObj video of his. As far as Oratorio being a demake of Rez, I think that is maybe some of the coolest stuff the NES dev scene is doing is brining in newer styles of gameplay to older consoles. Appreciate your comments!
I'd love to know the answer to this myself... really disappointed to see this game get blatantly featured for the intro of this video, yet it isn't mentioned anywhere what it is.
I am the creator of Force Bot NES. Thanks so much for covering this guys.
Fun game!

Awesome to see how interesting and versatile new NES games still are. Thank you very much for having our Sam in your list! 🙂
Sam looks dop!
I think Sam's Journey and CrossPaint might be my favorites, I really love how the NES colors are used in both of them!
Sam's Journey was originally made for the C64 and it is equally awesome....infact the BEST platform game on the Commodore 64.

Dev here. Thanks for showing off Oratorio!
Thanks for making it. Got to get Crater Song on one of these soon. :)
@@TheGameBeatersAbsolutely. Did we send you a download link for the ROM yet?
@@johnvanderhoef Not that I am aware of. I do have the Byte Off Version though.
Awesome video! Thank you!
Great list of games! that summer island battle tactics looks pretty cool!
Yeah that one has so much potential. Appreciate your comment!
10:40 should we mentioned, the Sprites used in that demo are all from Link's Awakening
From the gameboy? Neat!

Awesome stuff! Thanks for showing these awesome new games for a classic console!!
OverObj is definitely using some tricks to get so many bullets on screen at the same time. I'd love to see how it's being done.
Over Obj looks like a great shooter wish to see some colored background
It’s really fun!
I see that you left a link for the import shop - but how do I actually find a download for this game? OBJ is totally my fav from this list!

>fairy is wearing a pink mini skirt and has large bewbz
>"I love this fairy sprite GUY!" 🤪
lol I wish I had said that. Would have been funnier but I said “guide”.
I believe he said guide lol
Sams journey feels much like adventure island games too.
Great observation! Sam’s Journey definitely channels that classic Adventure Island vibe while adding its own unique flair. A modern retro treat!

What game is in the intro?

that bullet hell looks cool, is there a way to buy physical of these games?
There sure is!
05:57 When schizophrenia meets the Nintendo NES 👾
Can anyone tell me the name of the game at 11:30 please?
keep m coming ;)
Overobj is basically a rip off of GunNac
It does have some striking similarities, but it’s fun to see how it builds on GunNac’s legacy in its own way. A spiritual homage, perhaps?
Some of these look cool! Thanks for the video!!! 😊
Glad you like them! They are pretty cool. Thanks for dropping a comment and watching!
