    Thx Lord for guiding me to your channel. I committed to memorize 20% of the bible since 2020. My version of so call memorising is a chapter with a memory loci and a mental picture. Your channel do help me, by pointing to those who are walking the same road, and how they did it.
    May Lord bless you and your work be fruitful, 10 folds 100 folds and more.

    I used this method to learn medical terminology in high school. It’s SO effective but I never thought to apply it to Bible memorization. I’ve been wanting to memorize more Scripture and this clicks! Thank you!

    This is really tempting me to shift to doing this kind of an overview for all of the NT books before moving ahead with any new books word for word, or at least alongside them. Great video.

    • @BibleMemoryGoal

      So glad it's been helpful, Teresa! I question how effective this method would be for books that aren't narratives, though. I mean, it makes sense for the Gospels where we have stories happening that we can visualize, but I'm not sure how I would do this for a book like James, you know? It would just be much harder. Ideas?

      @@BibleMemoryGoal Hmm. I see what you mean. So Ruth, Esther, and much of the OT would work well with this synopsis palace. (Have you found a name yet?)
      Maybe a book like James would need some sort of topical system incorporated?
      When I memorized the spring analogy in ch.3, certain "life-giving water" chapters came to mind... Ezekiel 47 and Rev. 22, and parts of John 4 & 7. So I wonder if something like Takeshi's "salvation" scriptures memory palace would be a good idea to do for other themes like "Life-giving water" scriptures. One could have a master key of symbols for these different topics?? And then these topic symbols could be incorporated into the memory palace of a book like James. Just thoughts.
      When I began memorizing ch. 4, I wrote it out using a red pen. So now I think "4-war" and see it red. It helped, at least for the starting theme of that chapter, and distinguished it from the other chapters in James.
      You're right. An overview memory palace for James would be more difficult. One might as well memorize all of James, word for word!

    • @BibleMemoryGoal
      @BibleMemoryGoal  2 роки тому

      Yea, I agree with you that the Old Testament and the Gospels lend itself better to this kind of overview memorization.

    This was great since I’m in the process of memorizing John this year. I’ll admit I first had a Pharisaical reaction like in John 2, “It has taken 46 years to build this temple and will you raise it up in 3 days?” except “It has taken 4 months to memorize 6 chapters and will you memorize 21 in 20 minutes?” I had thought about using a memory palace, not for individual verses but for sections to help keep all the chapters straight. I’ll have to watch the video again and take notes and maybe incorporate the first words of my song for that chapter to get me started.

    I'm a newbie. Are using associating the #s in your memory palace with this system (i.e. memory palace location #1 = tree)? Also, is this used for verse-by-verse memorization or just for chapters like you do in this video? I'm curious if you're using memory palace #1 for chapters and then memory palace #2 for verses...

    • @BibleMemoryGoal
      @BibleMemoryGoal  Рік тому

      I'm using these images specifically for the chapter outline. Once I start doing verses, I move to a spacial mind palace that uses images to remind me of the verse number but is ultimately dependent upon the locations more than the images.

    Oh, I know this! From Kevin Trudeau´s Mega Memory. I learned the symbols for 1-20 (or: The Tree List) in 1990 and until now, I can say them. And the way to remember things by making a silly, weird story is very effective. We just need to take the time to use our imagination and creativity.
    Thank you, Josh, for sharing this and your own stories, of course. Now, it´s even easier to remember what happens in the gospel of John.

      @@BibleMemoryGoal How about "Josh Summer´s Bible Chapter outlines"?
      If you could do such a UA-cam video for each book of the New Testament, I think that would be awesome. A lot of serious Bible learners would profit from this. They can either follow your stories for each chapter of a specific book like what you did with the gospel of John or they can make their own stories inspired by your method.

    Hi! Question for you. Just found your channel, so apologies if you’ve already addressed this somewhere (and if so, would love to get the link : ).
    Do you recommend memorizing the chapter and verse numbers as part of your memory work, or do you recommend ignoring those and just memorizing the text alone?
    I’ve found proponents of both online and I can see the pros of both. Considering committing to memorizing a book of the Bible and that’s kind of slowing me down from getting started, because I don’t know which route to take.
    Thanks for any advice you can offer!

      I meant for me it's easier to repeat, rehearse and review without inventing all the extra details to use as hooks for memories.
      That said. This morning i watched one of your videos (i think) about memorising the order of the NT. It had a house with 4 pillars on the porch, one slightly different, the hall where all the ACTion happens, a corner room (a corner having 2 planes), the next room where girls eat pop corn, 5 cups of tea. Two long, two short, one on its own, phive lemons, a kitchen where a chef brews tea, while dressed like James bond, a room with twins playing peter pan, 3 toilets(John's) someone singing that beatles song and in the last room is a tv for revelation..
      I feel that i would rather use these things in an emergency if i was stuck. By brute force i meant i would rather just get down to it. Saying reading writing repeating. Till i had it.
