Worship leaders should be led by the Holy Spirit, not trying to BE the Holy Spirit. Just do what you're called to do and let the Lord work in people's hearts. Just because there isn't an emotional display doesn't mean God isn't moving. One of the main purposes of worship is to prepare our hearts to receive the Word, not validate you as a "psalmist" with a lot of crying and hollering. Just minister in song and invite the people to worship with you. Everything else is up to the Lord.
This is so accurate. I once took my niece to church who was still a baby and continued to stay seated when told to stand and I was called out. I'm like do you not see this baby in my arms!!!? The pastor continued to tell the congregation "I'm not trying to throw her under the bus. I'm trying to help her". I didn't go back.
I used to attend a church where the leader of the "praise team" was all about the church listening to THEM. Not to mention the songs were those no depth praise-team songs that sound like an 11-year-old came up with them in the car before church

True, It doesn't have to be a workout, but in a service you can't have everybody doing just whatever they wanted when they want. People sitting when the rest of the church are standing, etc. It's the indifference for me. They are praise/worship "leaders"(couldn't make it bold or italics🤷) meaning we follow their lead. Your ministry is to the Lord. He is the one who blesses, anoints and approves of your heart felt worship. It is the role of the levite to lead the way to victory in and through praise...and if others choose to follow, then so be it. If not, let God be pleased with what YOU have done. We should always be mindful of our motivations while leading Worship. Be blessed and encouraged in the Lord!
The truth is you can't, this isn't a praise and worship issue it's an issue of communion with the Lord and people who may have lost their first love. The issue is systemic and the Sunday gathering is only manifesting the true spiritual condition of the church. The cure prescribed in line with the principles in Rev 2:4-5 is for the leaders to shut down their "activities" go into a season of repentence and rebuild the foundations. As you address the issues in prayer as a church and as the Lord shows you the roots you preach & teach on those things and make changes as individuals and collectively as a church based on this, going back to those "first works".
