Filmed, when there were still people around who lived through the Civil War Between the States. Great classic film, and TYVM for sharing with us all! 👍👍 & 5⭐
I know, it's amazing when you think about it. Makes the film seem more accurate to the sensibilities of 1865, since it was filmed closer to the time it actually happened.
This 1930 film was preserved pretty well. Mr Griffith did ever so a very good job with this and the human side of Mr. Lincoln, his wife and the main characters were well portrayed. Even the struggle between the North and South was clear and present. So glad I watched this. Thanks for posting.

ID like to put a request into this have you got any movies what even go back in the early centuries ID like to see movies what made for the very first live like the very first one's what came out all those years ago night the 17th century and earlier From Perth WA 🤔🙏.
There are silent films from the late 1800s. Edison made some such as an adaptation of Frankenstein that's on youtube. Full length movies were starting to be made around 1910. There's a site called nitrateville if you're really interested in it. Try lon Chaney the shock.
That's a holdover from the silent era, when actors had to use heavy makeup to compensate for the problems the orthochromatic film stock created. Also, Griffith never adapted to the sound era. His talking films were dull, stilted, and poorly directed, and out-of-date.

He ll be missed like a boil on the ass! Especially in the south

God willing you're talking about the "Glory Glory Hallelujah" song at the end and not the shot part.

With the white pancake makeup and painted lips, this Abe Lincoln could stand in for Karloff's Frankenstein monster.
