Ima Iowa fan, and I've seen a lot of CC. Today, she seemed to have a swagger that was missing in the first 2 games, like she figured something out, and it showed in her game today. They lost because there was way too much dribbling, head down into the lane, team mates open all over the place.....come up empty. They won the last 2 quarters. Clark looked happy, she played well. Good for her.
She is starting to figuring out the physicality of the players that are guarding her. Learning to use it against them, and even give it back at them. Instead of letting it get in her own head and start forcing things, she was laughing things off and smiling. She played freer today. The team missed way too many close shots at the rim today and too many dropped passes . They all need to play better defense and identify shooters.
The Fever winning the last two quarters is huge. For, NY had its 1st team in all the way. The Fever went head to head and beat NY in those two quarters.
Clark is starting to feel more comfortable and realizing she is better than most of the players on the floor ( and all the players on Fever). She is starting to feel her mojo, it’s coming.
@@darrenswartzendruber8343 Well-stated. Clark's vision is to be a top pro, & she is so excited "laughing things off and smiliing," seeing the pathway ahead, knowing she is doing the right things. This has earmarks of a huge year. The other players have talent that will build as Caitlin builds.

Great improvement by the Fever today. Clark is the point guard and sees the court exceptionally well. Clark is a great leader. Too many missed lay ups. Hopefully, the improvement will continue.

She needs to change the negative body language her teammates and the other team see it, once they learn each other's spots the ball will arrive on time and in stride. They will also become more in sync. Better game today still a lot of improvement has to made. The team put up a good fight but between turnovers and the defensive side the game was handed to New York once again. The turnovers and the missed layups were the difference in the game.

Caitlin played well I'm happy she finally played an efficient game offensively. 8 turnovers again is wild tho. But the whole team needs play defense better. And Caitlin teammates needs be more efficient and they will win games. But I'm impressed with Caitlins game 3.

8 turnovers is not efficient that washes away the better shooting percentage. Defense is also a problem with her she's not very active on the other side of the ball. Even if she score 30 giving up 8 possessions to the other team and showing no resistance on defense give the other team a green light to victory.
Wheeler doesn’t know the game. Going under the pick gets you burnt. Are there any coaches on the team?
I actually think Coach did a much better job tonight. People can be so critical. This is a young team and they need to practice more together.They played the 2nd best team for the second time in a couple of days and looked so much better today. They ran screens much better, better energy, some nice backdoor cuts, they're running the court better. Fever players need to catch the ball on the run much better. Keep getting better Ladies!!! Take those positives into the next game.
True this game was way better in general mostly just keeping the ball in Clark’s hands. NCAA all time leading scorer/assist for a reason.
agree, to be honest at this point in their season, this is still like a pre-season stage for the Fever. Still learning their best roles and playing as a team

I liked it when Kelsey said "we don't play to lose". It takes a while to get use to each other let alone play against the best basketball players. It takes a while for the coach to figure out the chemistry. A board of Kelsey quotes might be good. "We didn't lose by forty so I'll take it" that could be taken the wrong way. But anybody that has played sports realizes there are steps and that is one positive step. They looked pretty ok. They may get handled pretty good throughout the season at times. But the best is yet to come!
Go ladies and us kind of new fans (more consistently watching) need to be patient. I am rooting for the fever and the league. It is great to see ALL these amazing talented women playing at this level. 👏

I would love to see Hawkeyes vs Fever for charity with CC playing with her college teammates. It will be an eye opener for those playing on the Fever and the fever coach googling for an excuse; she probably would say they couldn't stop CC dancing beyond the arc hitting lots of 3's.😂

We got people bashing everyone on the team except Caitlin, including Aliyah Boston, and accusing the team of sabotaging her. Ridiculous! They are still coming off a bad season, and getting used to playing together.

Celeste is energetic, and that is something the team definitely needs from time time. She also can hit the 3’s. How many times did CC pass to someone who missed the open 3? Coach is an idiot for playing her favorites, Wheeler & Wallace, both of whom don’t look CC’s way when she’s open. I think Berger & Taylor would fit into CC’s style of play so much better.

Kelsey Mitchell and Erica Wheller SHOULD NOT be playing over Grace Berger and Celeste Taylor, we have the greatest scorer and two amazing big players in Smith and Boston, focus on playing players that have strong defense like 2x defense champs of the year and 3 pointer shooter CELESTE FREAKING TAYLOR and NOT Kelsey Mitchell and Erica Wheeler players that are 5'7 and cant make layups, air ball 3s, and CAN'T DEFEND!

I agree on Erica but not Kelsey…Kelsey needs to play and had a good game today…she has been injured so hasn’t been playing and wasn’t able to train and build chemistry during training camp so it’s going to take time but she can shoot and needs to be in the starting line up. I would say though the Temi should be starting over Boston and that Celeste should be in place over Katie Lou or even Wallace right now because she is a better defender and can shoot the 3. Right now these vets are not as consistent with their 3s and are rusty and need more training and conditioning. They all need more conditioning and time to build chemistry.
Boston WAS Great Last Year. Now, not so much at all. These days the Game & Score Improves when Boston and Wheeler are on the Bench

Play Grace and Celeste. Clark always compliments everyone she's a team player. Wheeler is out for Wheeler no matter what Sides says. Caitlin probably doesn't want all the spotlight on herself.
Agree. Taylor & Berger would help on defense & with their energy. Caitlin is unselfish on & off the court. There were a couple of times today where she could have put up a shot but passed to a teammate with an open shot. Continues to do this despite the fact that it isn’t always reciprocated.

Think Katie is the best choice. She & CC seem to connect, both on court and on the bench.
They don’t need a word. They need a game plan. It was good to see Caitlin was point guard. That should ALWAYS be the case. but some of those people were taking awful shots. They weren’t even shots-they just threw the ball at the backboard. It was awful.
CC as point guard + Kelsey Mitchell as shooting guard + Katie Lou Samuelson as small forward + and NaLyssa Smith as power forward + Temi Fagbenle as Center look good combination as the best starting 5.
Maximizing the spacing with above 5 players who have a good 3pt shooting ability and also who can run in transition will be a good option for offensive end. 🙏🏻

100% agree. Boston , Smith and Samuelson can't make it back on D after a few times running the floor . Every NY transition was a 3on 2 or 4 on 3 with shooters open from 3 . Terrible transition D.

I love wheeler as she’s a sweet person but she shouldn’t be on the court as much and that’s obvious after how good they played today. Keep wheeler as a good vibe for the locker room but keep her off the ball.
The team is young so I’m excited to continue watching them grow as the season goes on. They know they’re not championship contenders this year or next so it’s all about learning and getting better.

The body language is telling. In comparison to CC with AB and Nalyssa, these two aren't close to gelling considering that Kelsey was injured and still rehabbing. They don't look at each other and just point in a lazy manner.
I feel if Sides still wants to put CC at the SG, at least play CC in the second unit. Play Kelsey alongside Wheeler in the starting 5 with AB, Nalyssa, and Katie Lou. Not that I think it's ideal.
My ideal (still) lineup is CC at PG, with Berger, Lexi Hull, or Celeste at SG, Katie Lou at SF, and AB and Nalyssa at Center and PF respectively. Kelsey and Wheeler doesn't seem to want to pass to CC and leaves her in the corner.
Oh, well. This is one way to stop CC. Don't play her correctly. Totally different than what we saw during the pre-season.

I wish these "vets" would stop waving off caitlin, only to air ball a layup or shot. Also celeste taylor should have played today not wheeler. Each time wheeler gets in the game the team does horrible. The last three games when the fever went on a run, was when wheeler was out of the game. Something is telling me she's blowing it on purpose for caitlin. I dont think she truly likes Caitlin.

They need to have her constantly moving in the offense like the Warriors do with Steve Curry and what the Jordan Bulls used to do with Steve Kerr-make the guard defending her to fight through multiple screens.

Wheeler has done an amazing job yes. An amazing job of hanging on to Caitlin’s coattails off the court and ignoring her on court. Boston looks like someone has drugged her. She’s so lethargic and seems to talk to the net post quite a bit. I’d like to get a sneak peak into that monologue.

This is a good loss. It about cohesiveness and direction. CC is the point guard she should have the ball in her hands all the time. Boston is the center she should be in the paint all the time. I would add CC should have 20 shots per games. The Fever is the Boston and CC show. The game needs to be built around these two anchors.

Much better in starting lineup and kudos to the coach for being willing to try out new combinations. Caitlin had more freedom to be herself in her style of play and worked as an unselfish unit. It just seemed however there were many missed rebounds and with Boston tiring excessively again, wondering if a fresher rotation in and out with her may help the speed play of the game and alleviate some missed paint shots. At times no one seemingly there under the bucket and this also capitalized on the Ace’s defensive rebounds.

The Fever played a better transition pace today. Better passing and creating space. Best 5 has not been thoroughly flushed out yet for O&D. Fever needs to focus on finishing shots and better defensive schemes of maneuver. Overall, great improvement over the first two season games.
Sides is still the worst coach I have ever seen. Berger 0 minutes. Wallace and Wheeler come in mid to late 3rd qtr down 12, and first possession turns the ball over. Minutes, just minutes later, Liberty back up 20. The 2 combined in 19 minutes pt 1 for 8 fg's. A turnover and 3 assists with a rebound. This is what you keep a productive, balanced player, that knows how to play defense off of the floor for. Berger got more than that in 4 minutes pt. In 10 minutes pt she lead the team in assists and scored 6 on 75% fg. Is that what you're afraid of? That she will expose how terrible of a coach you are? Makes no sense. You want to free up Clark, utilize Berger and get that ball snapping.
This was good step. Boston needs to chase more rebounds. give Berger some time the ball seems to move more when shes in there.

Facts and they are coming off a horrible season so they need time to grow a bit I think by maybe the end of this season we'll see them in full chemistry

fast-paced transition ball IS their future. Caitlyn is a phenom passer. Players STILL not expecting surgical passes. pick-rol, tthey focus on Caitlyn which opens opportunities for others to move and get passes.
No matter what happens, I will always think this is the coach's fault. Team should be like that from day one, at least in the first half. Why they reverted to that stagnant nonsense again in the second half is beyond me.

@@omotayosatuyi252 The coach isn't even able to make this roster compete. This roster is 8 returning players from last year, which was her first year, and has absolutely no offensive system that seems to operate well at all. We noticed all this in preseason.
This team knew it was drafting Caitlin Clark when they had gotten the number 1 pick and they never bothered to even film study the college systems that she ran to come up with plays for her set of talents... Instead, she ran whatever nonsense that we saw on preseason and beyond as their "offense" which is basically sloppy unorganized pickup game ball.
She's been with the Fever before, which is how she was able to get the job. Wallace and Wheeler were with her before too, so there's no excuse why they're usually worse with those two playing anyway--she's had the most time with those players than anybody on the roster.
And looking at what they've accomplished suggests that this team didn't even take training camp seriously since they look sluggish, slow, lazy, and have no coordination to run any plays together. Defense doesn't even seem like they have a system. I don't know how the coach isn't blamed when it's pretty obvious this coach is trying to destroy her roster on purpose for some reason.
They also should be winning or at least competitive with 4 all-stars on their roster, a number 1 pick, a number 2 pick, DPOY of some league, a champion from London, supposed to be great defenders in Lexie Hull and Celeste Taylor, and so on. Yet, their best player has been a rookie coming out of a national championship like 1 month ago. You've got two USA Olympics players, and your best so far is a rookie. She should have been fired after the first preseason game, to be honest.
