Geez were they really this tight? It's frightening. Even the vocals and backgrounds. Most bands can only dream of sounding this good even in the studio.
Yup! I saw them so many times and will say to this day some of the most fun shows ever! They would play 30 something songs and give it their all!!! Boingoloid forever!
You can see my fresh 18yr old face at 6 min mark. This gig literally changed my life. Danny kept slapping my hand and I even caught drumstick! I quit school the following week and went to London to seek out a life of music because of Oingo Boingo!
I truly hope you had an excellent life of exploration into music as a result of this. I never saw them live but as a kid I collected their cassettes, and later in high school and college, played in many bands, especially in the Los Angeles and Orange County punk scene of the late 80's- 2000's.

We were on our feet the entire time and I remember Elfman was modestly blown away by our enthusiasum. Cheers to all of you watching this with your sweet responses.
Seeing Danny Elfman in that white tee shirt really brings back memories. The first couple of times I saw them (I think at the Greek) he had on a white tee shirt like that with the suspenders. I thought he was so sexy. What a great live band.
This is so fascinating to watch. Sound and video quality is poor. But the music is sooooo good. And the entire band is utterly mesmerizing to look at. From Danny's unsettling smile, to a horn section that looks like a mortician, an 80's car salesman and a banker to a guitarist who could be some guy they found dressed for a fancy Applebee's dinner, a bassist who might pass for Eugene Levy's diminutive little brother, a drummer who's dressed like he's in a 1980's phys ed class and a keyboardist who looks like a preppy art major -- these guys are quite a combo with amazing musical talent.
Danny's voice was exquisitely beautiful - shame he doesn't sing this music anymore. I wish he'd do some acoustic shows with Oingo Boingo if he's so concerned about his ears.
Wow! This so brings me back to the day. I got to see them live 5 times (6 if you count the time I stood outside the amphitheater and listened because I couldn't afford the ticket.) 1st concert I was pressed against the stage during Grey Matter and it was like Danny was singing it just for me,
shared this with my kids the other night...brings back memories of THE best live band ever! Had the privelage of seeing a couple shows at THE Del Mar Fair grounds
Maybe the best live performance I ever saw. The Greek somewhere in the mid 80s. They played nonstop for two hours except for 30sec where Danny yelled at some idiot for throwing a shoe on to the stage. Pure electricity!
But it didn't air on MTV. I was at this show, they said it was taping for the Live at the Ritz series and I eagerly awaited the broadcast. The night it was supposed to air, and was in the TV guide, Queen live from Brazil was aired. I waited and watched and checked and waited. It was never on.
