That is one of the most popular brushes going. It's amazing it whips up lathers very easily. The Soap you didn't use is very good and rather popular. You got some good finds.
David Quinton Thanks David, yes I can tell it is popular, and no wonder, brilliant brush...looking forward to trying the soap too....all the best...Paul.
Excellent video Paul, this brush is the ultimate when it comes to that luxurious soft feel on the face. Even a badger fresh out the salon will never beat the Plisson for soft tips.
Great video paul like always!! Love your humbleness your enthusiasm in shaving and your conversation in the videos keep up the good work look forward to more videos!!!
Hi Paul. Another great video as usual. For anyone wondering , I just found out the difference between the black and the yellow packaging of the feather blades. The black contain 10 blades and the yellow are five. Just in case anyone was wondering as I was. Have a great week.
Hi Paul, George and Mrs George here ;), had a fall last night but Mrs George brought my iPad so we could watch, I feel better now :). I just purchased L'Occitane cade last week and it is fantastic but the weird thing is that I used my Plisson synthetic brush too. Great minds think alike huh, lol. I too heard Palmolive was stopping production so I purchased 4 tubes last night, not sure whats going on there but it is great stuff so good to have on hand anyway. I was just thinking that I am rambling on now :), wish I lived there, ill bet we could talk for hours about shaving and bore our wives to tears, hahaha. See you wednesday mate. George
Pug Dog Nation Hope your OK George, my wife uses an iPad too, handy to have...really enjoyed this shave, glad you like the L'Occitane Cade too...great soap.. Palmolive sales must be going up, so hopefully they will re-think there decision to stop production...if it's true that is...anyway, thanks for watching, hope your feeling better soon...all the best..Paul.
The thing i love about your videos is that it's not like"Ugh, i have that knot size and that loft size.Oh two band badger, super fine, silvertip bla bla" or"I only use open comb razors/TTOs/Adjustables/Straight razors/Cartridge whatever and it has to be like this and no other way...".Rather it's always different, because you're consistently changing things up and keep it exciting that way.The only two things one shaving video has in common with the others is:1.You're excitement and enjoyment 2.The fact that you're shaving(obviously) You sir, make the Greatest videos about traditional wet shaving on youtube!
Hessel M Thank you so much, glad you like the way they are presented like that, I try and use anything really, and as luck has it, enjoy it all...thanks again, all the best...Paul.
Top video as always. Just a quick tip I have started using which works well for me. During the preparation - usually in the shower - apply hair conditioner to the stubble. Rub it in and leave for a few minutes before rinsing off. It helps to soften the stubble and makes the shave easier. Roll on Wednesday.
Welcome to the L'Occitane World. Perfect pronunciation. Fantastic stuff. Pricey but lasts so value for money in the end. I too have the steel bowl and their hard soap. Bloody lovely stuff. You won't regret buying them. Have a look on the QVC website - they sell the range at a good price. Thee is also a shop in Shrewsbury.
Well remembered Sir - I should have signed off. I'm now on the hunt for a Plisson brush to try - damn you and your 'advertising'! ;-) All the best Mark
While I am inclined to like badger and boar brushes for their authentic old school esthetics, I've switched to synthetic brushes almost exclusively. Their lathering performance helps make up for the hard water here and the easy care, quick-drying characteristics has caused me to leave the badgers and boars on the shelf more often than not. The Plisson brush is one of my favorites as are a couple of the Edwin Jagger synthetics.
At about 13:15 you joked about maybe we don't care to hear the other stories. I enjoy the stories about where you live and the things you like doing. Of all the presenters on youtube, your videos are some of the only ones I actually listen to from start to end. Best wishes.
That's so funny! I was just passing emails back and forth with L'Occitane in UK trying to get one of those brushes but they won't ship them to the U.S.! Very sad day, they also told me they'd be discontinuing them. Enjoy the brush Paul! Keeping my fingers crossed that they'll re-release it!
John Fuston I can't understand why these companies don't ship to other countries, I know they can't ship aftershave/cologne...but other products should be fine, I hope you get one John... all the best..Paul.
Excellent video, Paul! I love Loccitane products. You will definitely enjoy the CADE soap - it is excellent in every way - performance and scent. I believe you'll be making another trip to their shop in Chester in the near future. As for the two ladies at that shop ... I just believe they hire and train very well. I've been to several of their stores (Atlanta, Charlotte, and Birmingham) here in the States and have similar experiences at each one. Always a good experience and never have I used one of their products that isn't top shelf! Enjoy!
Michael Estes Thanks Michael, yes there staff are excellent, makes a big difference doesn't it.. I will be going back next week..lol...good guess . excellent products, worth the money I think....all the best...Paul.
So was it a Rab down jacket and gillet you treated yourself to? They're very popular at the moment. Expensive though. I'm a keen hillwalker myself and being a Scotsman I enjoy tackling all the Munros we have. Spent some time recently in the stunningly scenic Glen Etive (where some of James Bond- Skyfall was filmed).
Great vid. I love the L'Occitane Vetyver. Along with L'Occitane Eau De Baux, it's among the best values in fragrance, for my money. Vetyver sadly seems to be disappearing from the U.S. stores, near my home in Detroit, at least. Looking forward to camping shaves and stories!
***** They are great products aren't they....I didn't know they excisted here, until I passed one myself..lol.. I hope they don't disappear to much over there....thanks Matt....Paul.
Great video Paul, ahhh....the Plisson my favourite shaving brush have had one for around 6 months fantastic brush for soaps and creams. I have to confess that I have ordered the Simpsons "The Colonel" shaving brush after seeing how impressed you were with it, I've been looking to buy a Simpsons brush for a while but the there is such a choice that I've held off but I trust your judgement so I should receive It early next week. The L'Occitane shaving soap I have had before and it is a good soap, I can see I might have to have a look at that Vetyver Eau De Toillette. Nice to hear what you've been up to sounds like you had a good day shopping, I actually took my mother and aunt out yesterday to a garden centre for lunch which I tend to do every other Saturday look forward to your next video - All the Best Mark.
Mark Smith Hi Mark, you should love "The Colonel" fantastic brush too...sorry I didn't buy one a long time ago now...if you like the earthy, woody, musky scents which I do , you will love Vetyver too..quite expensive though..but I am glad I got it. your lunch out sounded nice Mark..all the best...Paul.
I just bought the Plisson3 weeks ago for 40 bucks......fits in nice with my Simpsons, Semogues & Vie Longs - VERY soft. - Have not tried any other L'Occitane products yet.......love a great vetyver scent! Great find!
I love your videos there very informative since I'm new at wet shaving I've learned a lot from you. I, also like your personal stories brings a smile to my face and since I live in the states I'm interested in your shopping stories. I find you down to earth make informative videos. I use a Merkur 34c, EJ DE89 also, plisson & Omega 10065 brush's, feather blades and different soaps, there are so many. How many razors do I need? Thanks foir the great vidoes
Barry Leader In reality you only need one brush and razor, but once you get into this DE shaving, anything can happen, you go crazy wanting to buy this and that....lol..thanks Barry, all the best in the States.....Paul.
Hi Paul, L'Occitane is an amazing natural beauty, (but quite expensive.) That confirms the quality shave.Vetyver EdT is very nice smell ( or Baux, for winter season), I also recommend soap Vetyver. Plisson Brush is very promising. I have been using only samples, after shave balm = shave heaven lol. Sunny weekend Otakar

Great video Paul...I just got a soap you will love...Nannys Silly Soap Ice & a slice signature...Lime and Menthol...amazing smell. I'm saving it along with my Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes cologne for my trip to Bangkok soon :D Mark.
Hi Paul, thanks for replying last time, was well chuffed! lol, definitely going to buy a Plison brush now! (mrs gonna kill me) they're very expensive though. You got a great bargain! I bought 2 de razors over the weekend a Merkur 34c hd and a Edwin Jagger de89. Also a Edwin Jagger sandalwood shaving soap. Can't wait to try them out. Excellent videos mate keep em'rollin :-)
Mohammed Raj Hi Mohammed, yes they are expensive, but amazing brushes and well worth it I think, the softest brush I have ever known...Enjoy your new razors and soap, excellent choices....all the best....Paul.
Even in a rather mild razor like your Parker, the Feather blades will cut beard decisively. They are a "cure" if you will for some razors that people find to be inherently too mild. Nice combo!
Spot on shaving video once again Paul. Will have to give my Wilkinson Sword soap another go after what you said, as I wasn't impressed with it. Figured you are a walker with The North Face products you wear
Terry Stanley Yes, hope you find it better this time Terry, I did for some reason it lathered up very well. Yes I do walking and camping, I buy The North Face when they are on offer usually, they last and last...all the best..Paul.
Paul, great video as always. I am always jealous that you can get a great product like the Palmolive Shave Stick for the equivalent of 75 cents here in the US. I was able to get 4 sticks shipped from the UK for the equiv. of $3 each, which I still think is a fantastic bargain. You can't walk into a supermarket or drugstore here and get anything close to the quality of a Palmolive stick. Enjoy the new brush. It is also one of my favorites.
Brett Dills Thanks Brett, I am suprised the USA don't have Palmolive, it is fantastic soap and scent isn't it. I have stocked up on it actually, as a rumor was going around they may stop production of it in the UK, but it doesn't look that way in the shops, as it is well stocked... anyway, all the best and thanks again...Paul.
phehibs I don't go to Chester that often, due to how busy it gets, but enjoyed it this time, well finding the L'Occitane shop helped..lol...the three Yorkshire peaks sounds good, but doubt I would have the time to do it...good luck if your doing it...a good challenge...all the best...Paul.
like the shaving bowl i like to use the parker 22r with a new blade nice and smooth bit of a bushcrafter eh Paul ? nothing wrong with a good chat with the shave info gonna try the palmolive shaving stick 49p well worth the try
John James Thanks John, I liked the shaving bowl, it looked quite unique, especially with a lid too...always had a good shave from the Parker 22R , good razors, I wouldn't go as far as bushcrafter..lol...but I enjoy a wild camp here and there yes...the Palmolive is really nice when lathered up well and the scent is good old fashioned soap ...all the best...Paul.
Hi Paul, great Sunday shave for my breakfast, thanks mate! Plisson Synthetic, the "Brush of the Gods" as Chris Bailey call it. Seems to do a fine job and it requires very little care, but I my feeling always say "fake", when I'm using a synthetic, don't know why...??? Have a great Sunday, Dan.
Don Dan I know what you mean Dan...but I must admit it was fantastic, the softest brush I have ever used or felt.. have a great Sunday too Dan...all the best...Paul.
PaulHFilms If the brush doesn't have any backbone, does that mean it can only be used with creams? I use a boar for hard soaps, and badger or synthetic for creams. It'd be interesting to see a test lather on a hard soap from that brush.
Have you won the pools or something Paul? You must have blown a shed load or a barn load of cash on shaving gear recently, lol. The Plisson brush is good for travel since it dries so quickly. Enjoy.
1morepassWill No...lol...I am dreading my credit card bill..and must hide it from the wife..lol...I love the Plisson, and noticed how quickly it dried..excellent...all the best.....Paul.
I'm Laughing. You sound like you just came back from traveling across the world. I've been to London (I live in LA) and I never knew the UK was such a large country. Just kidding. btw, my favorite from L'Occitane is the Orange Blossom and Cinnamon incense. Check it out since you seem to enjoy many scents like me. Everyone always tells me I have the most sensitive sense of smell. Just got Cella shaving cream and can't wait to try it since its almond scent.
markmongo44 It is across the world..lol... don't go there often....must look out for that soap, must check I don't have it already actually..lol....thanks Mark....all the best..Paul.
PaulHFilms Hi Paul, hope you are enjoying your weekend. I just got delivered a couple days ago the Plisson Synthetic brush and I love it. Very soft and surprised how well it lathers with little backbone. I used it with Catie's Bubbles LPV and got an awesome shave. But I definitely got lucky since after I ordered it online at L'Occitane which was only USD $30 the brush was no longer available. Lucky me. :-)
Always a pleasure to join you for a shave Paul. Thank you for the many tips to make my shave more pleasurable. Glad you enjoy wild camping, so here is a tip for you. Visit Eddie, Scotland's Number One wild camper on one of his latest adventures: ua-cam.com/video/t-zKKRbZiMo/v-deo.html Maybe one day you will give us a shave from the campsite. Nice view of the shop at the end. Be well! Sincerely, Ossie
Ossie Weinert Hi Ossie, yes I have watched Eddie many times, I take my hat off to him, a great guy.. yes I did actually plan a shave from my campsite when I do it..lol..weather depending of course...thanks for watching Ossie, all the best...Paul.

I'm a keen hillwalker myself and being a Scotsman I enjoy tackling all the Munros we have. Spent some time recently in the stunningly scenic Glen Etive (where some of James Bond- Skyfall was filmed).
DeeDeeDanone It was a North Face Down, as it was on offer £200, Rab wanted £250 for there jacket, and it was heavier and bulky compared to the one I bought...nice, look forward to using it, you live in a great place for walking, I enjoy wild camping too, especially here in Snowdonia, like a mini version of Scotland..lol. always wanted to know were that part of James Bond was filmed...thanks...all the best..Paul.
Plisson my favorite brush of all my 16 brushes. Period. Very nice video as always Paul. Thank you for sharing.

Visit Eddie, Scotland's Number One wild camper on one of his latest adventures: ua-cam.com/video/t-zKKRbZiMo/v-deo.html
Maybe one day you will give us a shave from the campsite.
