@@Beer_Dad1975 at least it wasn't rolled 4 times after he got absolutely wasted and drifted it off a narrow mountain road and landed on its roof after a 10 foot drop like a neighbor's SC400. It finally burnt up in a recent wildfire though
@@chazzcoolidge2654 My first one got side-swiped by someone driving through a stop sign in rush hour traffic, spun me into oncoming traffic and two more cars piled into me - all 4 cars written off, mine was they only one that could still be driven. My second one I kept for 9 years & only sold because we needed something with 4 doors for the family. They are highly under-rated cars.
@RARAYAYA RAA Yeah I had two of them back in the day (they are called Soarers here, but same thing just RHD) a V8 and a inline 6 - they were both awesome cars - neither of them very fast but just so nice to cover miles in, and nice to look at too.

I remember Radio Shack. There was one in the town I lived near years back. It was a really nice place. A bit cluttered, but they had a train set running year round, and row after row of switches to fiddle with.

The roof was pushed in first making its structure weak. Hence convertibles have beefed up frames and when you rut a roof off a uni body car your doors dont close well cause rhe car saggs. Only thing that keeps the rear end connected to the front end is your floor and roof unless you have a full size ladder frame like a truck, jeep, or land yacht.

I just sold my third car to a coworker recently. He's going to fix it up for his granddaughter. It was just a first-gen Focus, but...I have a lot of memories with it. I kissed my wife for the first time in that car. I moved out of my parents' house in it. I drove it to the courthouse for my wedding...it's strange seeing it in the parking lot at work, and knowing I didn't drive it there.

I can imagine the feeling. My fist car sat in backyard for a few years after electronics failed. Rear brakes got stuck. Engine still was great. But anyway I was sitting behind the steering wheel while the car was dragged to scrap yard. The car really did not want to go, one wheel was still stuck all the way to junk yard.

Oh Tavarish, I feel so bad for you! Your first build and now a folded up pretzel. This was as hard to watch as it was for you. Years ago I lived in Germany and was into old VW's and had one that I did the same with but it was still running, flashers blinking and the overhead crane dropped down and took it away. Still running and blinkers flashing. Was a bitter end to a once proud car.
Look at it this way my friend, there will be others in your future so concentrate on the next build you are doing. You have the talent and do make some wonderful builds! Good luck Freddie.

FYI the CT12's don't blow up straight away Freddy... I had a set going on near 12 years and still boosting to 20psi. The key is to remove the stock y pipe, and replace it with something more free-flowing. The reason is that the cast iron y pipe retains heat and delaminates the stock ceramic wheels once the car is switched off. With a new big dump pipe, the stock twins can provide a quite decent power output.
Knew this day was coming when I saw the look of Freddy when this car showed up again.
*It's kind of like letting one of your kids go or putting your dog down because he's ate up with cancer. Specially when you've had the car in your life for so long, they just become a staple that you just always expected would be there. Never mind what is rusting off of them and no matter how much the thing is falling apart you just always expect it to be there tucked away somewhere for you to go over, look at it, and fondly remember all of the fun you had building it and making it yours. To give up on it and say good bye that final time is so hard because it's so final. as soon as that crane comes over, you know that's it! the car will never be your baby any longer once the first tooth of that mauling monster touches it. And in that moment all of that passion, love, and pride for the thing comes rushing back for one very final and very definite expression of emotion. No matter how hard you try, or how man other cars you build , NONE of them will ever be THAT one again* How spot on is this? i've gone through this 4 times in my recent years myself That is the only way i was able to convey this as well as i did from a passionate and equally heart broken car lover's perspective.

We have a radio shack here in Knoxville, and yeah they have a bunch of goofy stuff, but in the far back corner, they have a bunch of racks full of electronic parts! I can actually go buy resistors! makes me very happy :)
