- Gave my local jetty a whirl. Boy oh boy it's paved with flatties that I cannot keep until August 16th. The Mackinaw shads certainly provided some nice quality fish on this trip! Soon enough!!

The ny fluke/flounder season is nothing to write home about this year. Bluefish are also nonexistent. Fish stocks are in trouble. Even bait seems to be scarce. I don’t know. Anyway thanks again for taking us along pal it’s always a pleasure
Long Island here. It’s been crap on both shores. People have been keeping/killing everything they catch the past couple years. It’s complete garbage and messing up the population.

I would slay flounder all the time in Florida arounder the jetties. I would just work and bounce the jig on the bottom slowly and it worked everytime. Now I live in the U.P and miss the saltwater fishing so much.

I thought your spot looked familiar. When you got the white grunt it threw me off cause I ve only caught or heard about them well offshore. We got them grouper fishing out near the tower. I saw in a comment your from Wilmington so we re neighbors. Nice video. Kayak fishing has grown so much in popularity.

I live in South Florida but when I was a kid in the early 70's my dad would catch giant weakfish at night off the pier. Had one that wouldn't fit in the fridge. I havent seen anyone with a video. Are they still around?

6-yr olds can catch keeper fluke from a boat in Montauk with gulp. Mackinaw Shads and pro/cure from a kayak in different areas/environments takes real skill

How on earth are you able to completely avoid catching Robins? They basically own NY/CT/RI/MA/NH water so they and dogfish are nearly all one can catch. But both are edible so long as you have an extremely heavy, extremely sharp, fairly long knife/cleaver to break them down with.
No sea robins here. The lizardfish rules the Carolinas

I wish they had raised the size limit even if it had been like NY at 19 inches I think other than close it and then open with such a short season but the net guys still get to catch them. I thought the fish belonged to all of us evenly. Seems like the the commercial guys get all the breaks. I understand they are trying to make a living but it’s off a resource that belongs to us all and hook and line guys don’t catch enough to hurt the species. Bigger size would help the fish right!
I never really buy the whole people just trying to make a living. A lot of people have lost jobs do to environment safety and conservation, so why don't commercial fisherman and farmers have to do what's right for everyone and the environment. So yes I agree 👍

Hey Elias will this yield the same results fishing from the jetty in the Long Island area this time of year? Water is super warm around here, been catching Spanish mackerel as a FYI.
