I like how they're both shocked after this. Zoro surpassed his limits here and realized it still wasn't enough to make Kaido fall, and Kaido was shocked someone can make him bleed like that. They both realize the other is a monster way stronger than they expected.

I think if Zoro used ashura right at the start of the battle he could've knocked kaido out similar to how luffy knocked out kaido after the g4 gatling attack, but not end the battle.

They always unleash their most powerful attack when they’re on their last leg, but why, tho? Ex: Crocodile, Enel, Moria, Vergo, Caesar, Doflamingo, Katakuri, and some characters that I won’t spoil. Kaidou gave Zoro and Killer the opportunity to land a free hit on him and he didn’t unleash it then? It’s kinda goofy.

@@Shark-hn4mv I think you're confusing strength with stamina. Kaido was literally just smashing his club into zoro without infusing it with any haki it was just his raw strength and zoro was using his strongest ability and infusing his attack with conquerors haki.

I always feel the same way. I hope I live to the end of some of the greatest series out there, and I pity the people who couldn't make it. I mean, there's more to life for the dead to miss out than anime, but anime (especially scenes like this) can be a pretty big thing to miss out on!

Ah yes, the SQUARES, the CUBES, and the RECTANGLES! To be able to scar Kaido in his hybrid form, while insanely weaken is mindblowing. Zoro is quite literally BUILT DIFFERENT. Mihawk is looking more and more scary (Yonko level) with how much stronger Zoro has gotten!
Remember before shanks lost his arm, he and mihawk fought together all the time. And yeah, I bet had mihawk been there to watch this battle, that move would have won a raised eyebrow and nod of approval. Followed after by "Ok, now fight on that level all the time and we can have our match" Dude just significantly wounded the physically toughest yonko in the world and left him with yet another permanent scar.

Well he did what only the best fighters in the past were able to do and that is really hurt Kaido. Also scarring him was only done by Oden before. And how he did that (covering himself in Haoshoku haki) is what Luffy only will find out in the next episode we will see in 4 weeks after the movie promoting episodes. So basically Zoro made this step (unknowing that he actually did) before his captain will do it knowingly next time. And after Luffy figures it out the fight will become a lot harder for Kaido.
This also lets us assume that Mihawk does not possess Haoshoku haki because he did not teach Zoro how to use it, even though it’s highly unlikely Zoro didn’t use it in his 2 years with him. So that might be the chance to surpass Mihawk

@@Chorre7 We haven‘t seen much from every single member of the straw hats during the timeskip. Even Luffy was just trained by Rayleigh for a short time and then we don‘t really know what happened until the story picked up again.
Mihawk had no obligation to teach Zoro anything at all but still he did. So drawing the line at Mihawk only teaches armament haki is just as much proven as saying Mihawk does not have haoshoku haki.
Just a theory but I think it fits well. Also we‘ll have barely time until One Piece is discovered and the final arcs start, there‘s not much time for progress anymore. We won‘t get another 5+ fights from Zoro that will boost him on a higher level than Mihawk. So if he now just has to learn to consciously use haoshoku haki and also cover himself in it (what only the best of the best can do), would be the best way to make him become the strongest swordsman.
The fact that Zoro negates 4 attacks from Kaido and then slashes him is sooooooooooo EPIC.
Every time zoro is put at deaths door, he comes back stronger. At this point, I think the demons of hell fear him too much to let him come down.

It adds a sense of urgency and suspense like Kaido did everything he could and was still cut. Zoro not only being strong enough but proving he'll do it efficiently. I'm pretty sure Kaito and luffy were going all out before this recklessly and zoro had a remark about how over aggressive they were.

If you were to ask a One Piece fan what Zoro's defining trait is, there is a 99.9% chance they would say his fighting style. However, I would say it's his undying loyalty to his captain. That is what makes him such an incredible protagonist and friend.

Man, you watch Zoro and you can't help but admire him to the point where you start showing respect towards him, even though he's a fictional character.
His loyalty to Luffy is just crazy. He always says his goal is to be the best swordsman, like it's something that will benefit only him. But when you see how he pushes himself when he's with Luffy, you see that he only wants to be the best swordsman so that he can remain worthy of being Luffy's subordinate... I know all the Straw Hats are important in their own rite, but Zoro has to be Luffy's most important crew member. In this fight alone, Luffy would have died a couple of times had Zoro not used himself as a shield. We also saw that when he suffered on Luffy's behalf against Kuma.

Out of all the swords that Zoro has, Wado Ichimonji is easily his most basic AND most important sword at the same time. Obviously, when I say basic, I mean that it hasn't stood out and is kind of under the radar. Enma is a powerful sword but it is likely the closest to becoming a black blade as we understand it currently. Furthermore, it's likely the sword he will learn the most from too.
the wado and enma are the same rank too (directly bellow the hightest) its the Sandai Kitetsuthats the odd one out now, ive seen other people say the wado should be one of two things to happen the first to become a black blade becuase it means so much to him and has been there teh longest or the last to during his fight with mihawk im inclinded to belive the later because enmas werid powers seem to indicate its going to happen the soonest like you said and that would complete his journey.
@Morgan Irvine To be honest, Zoro needs to make all three of his swords black blades. I think Enma will be first as it's already on its way. He will learn the true nature of forging black blades from that and then his goal will be to forge Wado Ichimonji and maybe Sandai Kotetsu if he doesn't replace it with a different sword by the end of the series.

@@daniellim7440 Sure, I don't mind. I'll do my best. Essentially, most named blades are "cursed" and have wills of their own. The idea is that the sword chooses its wielder. The first sword forged by a swordsmith is always the "strongest." This implies the first forged sword has the most potential but also has more personality, if you will. It also means that the sword decides if the person using it is worthy. If you recall, Sandai Kitetsu is referred to as a "problem child" that cuts more than it's supposed to. Zoro even references this during the baroque works island of Whiskey Peak right after receiving it from the shop owner in Loguetown. Shisui has a bad temper, making it difficult to handle, as well as being heavier than normal. And of course Enma, as I am sure you know full well by now, is extremely violent and has a very big appetite for Haki. So you can sort of think of higher grade swords as sentient weapons that have personalities. So, the theory is that black blades are forged when the swordsman exerts their will over the sword and infuses it with Haki; therefore, having a complete mastery over it. The theory suggests that it's not just Armament Haki, though. Conquerer's Haki also needs to be infused into it. Now, what that actually means for the sword is anyone's guess as of right now. It's safe to say that based on what we have been given thus far, any sword can become a black blade, not just high-grade swords. Hawkeye is actually the one who said that to Zoro. This suggests that making cursed swords black blades is significantly harder than making low-grade swords black blades. Either way, that's about as much as we know regarding the matter. So what does that mean for Zoro and his swords? Well, Enma is the closest to becoming a black blade as we understand it currently. I can only assume this means that, because of its gluttonous nature when it comes to Haki, it consumes Haki faster than normal and thus hastens the will of the swordsman over the blade. I don't see a scenario where Oda doesn't explain it further, but that's the theory so far. We know Zoro has been confirmed to have Conqueror's Haki so it goes without saying that he's very capable of making his swords black blades if the theory holds any sort of weight. Anyway, I hope that was helpful enough. The whole thing has a lot of mystery surrounding it still and I can't imagine a scenario where we won't get more info on it later.
Edit: Thought of one last thing to add that maybe wasn't quite obvious enough. Higher grade swords have more personality and are harder to master. Which is why, theoretically, it's actually better to forge those into black blades for the swordsman than lower grade swords since you have to overcome the will of the sword with your own Conqueror's Haki.

This moment is more of an indication as to how strong the Yonko are. Big Mom and Kaido vs Luffy, Zoro, Kid and Law. Not to mention the Mink Tribe in Sulong form and the Akazaya Nine was wiped out prior to this battle. The cherry on top is that through all of these battles, Kaido’s power is holding up an entire island.

0:43 to 1:02 I love this new implementation in Zoro's ost. This ost really had its big moment during the dressrosa arc against Pica but man, just by adding that new verse it just puts this fight against Kaido on a whole different level. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed this.

The reason Zoro doesn't unleash Asura from the beginning is actually more simple than you think. It's a ultimate finisher. It may be the most powerful technique in his arsenal, but something like that also heavily drains your stamina more than any other technique. Which means if he uses it from the start and his enemy withstood it, he will no longer have enough stamina to sustain his damage output. Simply put, he will not use his most powerful technique unless it's a last resort.

10000% Of he just exhausted that move and himself at the beginning he wouldn't have been there to help Luffy in that 10 minutes without haki. He is just better in playing with the team then just being a one use absolute wreaking ball.

As y’all might know those who have Conqueror’s Haki have the qualifications to be king and here we see Zoro despite having this he priors Luffy’s life more than his life (u can be certain abt this during his fight with someone) so it’s amazing that he has unlocked it

That boy Zoro is top tier and an elite warrior for going all out like that even after bones breaking from that ultimate attack from both Kaido and Big Mom. He's truly on his way to legendary status if not already there. He left a permanent scar on the king of beasts which is highly impressive.

Zoro has always been my favorite Straw Hat. He has so many freaking badass moments in Wano and this is an amazing one, clashing with a Yonko. I was so hyped to see Asura again.

At this point in the fight, Zoro is the only one who has left a permanent scar on Kaido, has dealt the MOST damage to Kaido and has the best feats thus far out of the supernovas. Zoro will indeed become the strongest and greatest swordsman in all of One Piece.

If you pause correctly Wado became a black sword, Kitetsu like a red color sword and Enma like purple. My theory is that each one of them are going to have a different variation of black swords .

Probably my all time favorite attack of one piece so far.
This was the culmination of all of Zoro’s training since the beginning of Wano. Such a great payoff. Zoro may not have been able to stop Kaido, but his attack made an impression, which is definitely no small feat.

zoro went crazy, but this was the most powerful attack he could do and put his all into it, Kaidos durability is insane
Don't forget most of his bones were broken. This may be his strongest attack, but his body was nowhere near its strongest condition. "Putting your all" can only do so much in a state like that.
@@Shark-hn4mv no I don't think they were broken, and that doesn't matter too much, he used his inner strength for this attack, normally he wouldn't have the stamina to do it, but his inner power allowed him to, if he did that from the start, it wouldn't of made a difference, in Asura mode, it seems he can't feel fatigue or pain, he's just in god mode, like Tanjiro did vs Daki, he was never gonna knock Kaido down with that attack, even if he just did it from the start
Isnt his strongest attack the one against pica? Or the one he cut fujitora metorite, ichi Daisen dai sen sakai or something? "there is nothing i cant cut" he probably didnt use it because of plot and the long windup it has. Asura looks more like a form to me.
