      Is there any way to incorporate pitch range limits into the Bloom firmware?

    This is revolutionary! Love what you did here, hoping one day someone makes a faithful Bloom firmware with the ratcheting and note range features you've implemented here. The module is just so close to perfect, the community having the ability to make custom firmware in this way is a major boon.

  • @JundCo
    @JundCo 6 місяців тому +3

    Very Cool, gonna try it!!! One more cool feature would be true ratcheting. In the current firmware ratchets repeat the note in the same division, messing up the pattern length. Would be so nice to let a note repeat 2x in 1/16th or 4x in 1/32 and so on.

    • @bluenautilus
      @bluenautilus  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes! Totally agree. Only didn't to it to avoid having to calculate tempo but it's high on the list to add.

  • @budfoon

    Yes- but can it finally do REAL ratchets (not just per step repeats)?

    👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻nice project ! I’m interested in more details in the process of making the new faceplate. You said you used a picture to rebuild it. Are you using this picture to match the hole or to design the print only ?

    • @bluenautilus
      @bluenautilus  6 місяців тому +1

      Just to match the holes. The flower design is just a matter of putting the right parts on the right layers. The dark red comes from copper layed down under the solder mask. The white is silkscreen and the gold is ENIG finish.

    Very happy to see this. I contacted QuBit years ago to ask for open sourcing the firmware, so that something like this would be (more easily) possible to do.
    Never got an answer, sold the module, I might buy it again now haha

    This is incredible! I like how streamlined and controllable this is while allowing for both progression forward and then back to a saved sequence! I think that is overlooked often but is so fun! Also, having the led colour correspond to how high in pitch it is,l is so helpful! I wish more sequencers had that kind of feedback. Imagine if the varigate did? Are you able to with a held button change the notes in the sequence without having those audible? I like that you have it able to do that but in a live situation, you might want it a bit more discreet. Subbed to see what you’re up to next!

    • @bluenautilus
      @bluenautilus  6 місяців тому +1

      You can toggle the live note audition setting by holding shift and clicking the 7th encoder!

    Question: Is there any chance of setting an input for an LFO to control length of sequence, or even the probability function (mutator)?

    • @bluenautilus
      @bluenautilus  6 місяців тому

      There is a CV input to control the rest note probability parameter, the one to the right of that knob. As for length, that would be nice, but I'm out of jacks! Something else would have to go, but that is an easy change to make. Edit: mutate probability has cv input already too

    • @boydw1
      @boydw1 6 місяців тому

      @@bluenautilus Even better would be a way to select which parameter the CV inputs are assigned to.

    My version of Bloom has a Daisy Seed 2 Rev 3 board on it, and will not power on when connected by USB. I also own a Versio with a near identical board but Rev 5, and that connects by USB without a problem. The main difference between the two visually is that the largest chip appears absent on the Bloom, marked PCM3060, in that spot is a chip is on the Versio. That seemed to be a big difference at first but a search of this chip suggests to me that it is a DAC. Since the Bloom does not output audio maybe this isn't needed, but that is a guess. Not sure why this Bloom refuses USB power/connection, but maybe this info will help someone with the same issue track it down.
    Otherwise this firmware sounds incredible, shows a lot of thought and work went into it, and while I'm bummed that I can't check it out I hope this encourages additional interesting generative sequencers.

    • @bluenautilus
      @bluenautilus  6 місяців тому

      Yeah that's an audio codec; the chip for that has changed a few times bc of the chip shortage. Well, that's a bummer. Seems like a USB port should be there for a reason though... I wonder if it just doesn't provide power.

    • @trancenoir
      @trancenoir 6 місяців тому

      @@bluenautilus Confirmed, this version of the module needs a separate power source. With that, it connects as it should and your web interface to flash the firmware worked great. Looking forward to playing around with your take on this module!
