@@twocylinderwill oh! hey, glad I could be an inspiration. keep it up, I absolutely love that newer ski whiz model hood design, it looks like the old ones, but sleeker and more like a race car.
I had one.....they were known for bad coils. Also mine would run MUCH better and START much better with NGK plugs. Champions would last about a full day with the coils not firing properly. The NGK would last 3 or 4 days.
what coils would you get for an old sled like this. i pulled one out of my familys barn and it has weak spark, no seat, and fuel lines and the splitters are totaled. i need help getting parts
@@ttvtrucked4222 I can't remember where I got my coils....it was the late 70,s. All you need is a number off the engine...its on it somewhere or the guy in this video could help you.....maybe. If you have weak spark you need to get to the coils and check everything in the magneto All your specks for that engine can be found online for sure
Love watchin the vids….but heres a pro tip- that carb kit is junk. Next time get a original tillotson kit. Also one of the most important things in those carbs is pop off pressure. If you just put a random spring in under the fulcrum arm then you have no idea what it is. If you buy a cheap pop off gauge and learn how to use it you will be able to test the needle/seat/pop-off and you will have a perfect set up carb the first time. It looks like you like old sleds so chances are you will use it a lot haha. I build Élans so tillotsons are the norm for me.
If you google JLO 2F-400 (or 340/440 depending on your engine model) you should be able to find it quite easily. Just be aware there are 4 bolt and 6 bolt head designs, so make sure it’s the right one for you as well
@twocylinderwill thanks. Found out she's got low compression. One cylinder was 70psi and two cylinder has 90psi. Thinking maybe rings stuck but I'm not sure. Also has weak spark and probably needs the carb rebuilt as well
I love the Ski Whiz sleds. The whine of the JLO Rockwell fan is such a nostalgic and beautiful sound :)
Awesome content as always!!! Love the diagnosis.
very nice. I started my youtube channel with videos of my 1971 ski whiz 500sst. sounds just like that one with the axial fan whine!
Watching your videos was actually what led me to start making some of my own. These little JLO’s sure are distinctive

Nice. First sled I ever rode on was either a 73 or 74 SkiWhiz back in 1978, I was 8 years old. Been hook on sleds ever since! Great find!
Got the old m f whizzing again , that sound takes me back to when I had mine!
I love the throttle response on those old sleds, awesome!
The best sleds had them all

Thanks for the comment! I only run the NGK plugs in my sleds, they seem to last quite a while.
@@twocylinderwill If you can find real NGK's....a lot are knockoffs.

amazing how those old ugly sleds look so great now
I was embarrassed to be seen on my 73 Ski Whiz in high school, now I'm the prettiest girl at the dance!😁
That is strange, why have a slot on the needle if nothing goes into it.
