Binge watching your content mate. Production value is a lot better these day but the old content is great. Awesome to see you experience a different way of life.
Small industry like the Tuk Tuk shop are very important to a country's economy . Manufacture here in Australia is closing down in favour of buying our "stuff" from overseas . Work Place Health and Safety has taken it's toll on us . In Thailand they simply DO IT
Thanks for the tuk tuk shop tour. How many ice cream sandwiches can that basket handle? Now you have an emergency ice cream sandwich mobile. Yeeee Haaaw. Enjoy the holidays and don't eat too much.
...Posting this note prior to my having watched the entire video - yet! - (and it may well be addressed!!!) aren't tuk tuks considered commercial vehicles and therefore not available for foreigners to own and license?...Please tell me the info I received is wrong, as they seem a very viable utilitarian vehicle that fits between a scooter and truck and if they can be owned and operated as a personal vehicle I would very seriously consider obtaining one for local use when I arrive in a month or two. Thanks, as always for your most informative, educational, and entertaining videos showing real Thailand, the culture and people.
My friend in my videos Klaus bought one years ago from my father in law. He has sold to many farang. Yes it is a commercial vehicle but so is a pink Toyota corolla Thailand Taxi. So if it is bot being used as a taxi than it is to be registered as a non commercial vehicle with non commercial plates. Foreigners cannot get work permits to be taxi drivers. There is a HUGE fine if you are caught doing a taxi service without proper docs and certs. There was recently a Russia partnership with Thai Co., call it a Mafia controlling taxi's in certain areas. Not Anymore.....
Cool! Thank you so much for clearing that up and dispelling some misinformation I was given! I have been enamored with the heavy duty 'tuk tuk' style workhorses they have here in China used to haul produce and goods in the warehouse districts as they span the more limited utility of a scooter and combine with the greater utility of a pickup for a fraction of the price of a truck. Call me crazy, but for local use, it seems a more utilitarian alternative investment than a scooter. ...So many interesting possibilities... ;-) Thank you, sir!
Hey Chuck and Paige, another good one. I really enjoyed the visit to the tuk tuk factory. I never realized they were that cheap. I imagine you tried the chili sauce as well, I always have found it to be too sweet.
Take a tuk tuk and make a chopper out of it with a 1000cc engine and watch your passengers freak out as you do a wheelie down the street....Merry Christmas yall!
thanks for the link . Anything mechanical I find interesting , in particular small scale fabrication such as your Father-in-Law does The Daihatsu engine would be very reliable and shouldn't require a lot of reconditioning . I'm guessing the Gearbox/Diff. is Daihatsu also.
Really enjoying your vids Chuck x are you going to be doing much travelling around Thailand and do yo think you and Page will get a place of your own there one day? Here in England i think its a 50/50 ratio of coke and pepsi lovers, my partner prefers Pepsi Max!! Hope you all have a great Christmas x Alison xxx
dan holden thanks for watching them. As soon as I get my Visa situation handled we plan on doing a lot of traveling around this part of the world. her parents house is our house there's plenty of room for all of us. if we get bored I will just travel somewhere for a couple of months
Great video. Thanks for that tour. We are looking for a store to buy tuk tuk parts from (we are not based in Thailand). Would your father in law be interested in chatting about that please?
@@notime2bsad No we don't speak Thai unfortunately. If we sent you something (is there a way we can contact you off youtube please?) would that be able to be translated please? Otherwise we could try using google translate?
minimum wage is 375baht per day. ($11.00) Just like anywhere else income is based on your skill. Unless you live in California then the cost of doing business is higher for the minimum $15.00 per hour.
Can flangs own Tuk Tuk in your town. I was living in CM and they said flangs can not when I went to the DMV. I would love to own one in a small town to get around.
Yes my friend Klaus bought one from my Father in-law and I have met 1 other random person who told me he owned one as well. As far as running a taxi service, well that is a different story... They sell here for around 89k baht. Do you want me to put and order in for you?
