What stage of the application are you at? Police check usually needs to be done at an early stage and medical can come later, you will have received emails on what needs to be completed. You can always contact your bunac rep, they’re there to help you!
Hi! Hoping to apply in the next couple days and very excited 😁 One question though - I don't have any experience as a solo traveller and am terrified of travelling by myself. How do the companies handle travelling to / from camp? Do you fly as a group? If people fly home at different times do you have to make your own way to an airport?
Some agencies that offer flight packages will fly you out with others, but most camps will offer group chats so you can meet people going to your camp and you can sort travel plans that way! My camp runs buses to the airports on the last day of camp
Location (do you want to be near a big city? Some camps are in the middle of nowhere), days off per week, type of camp (same gender or coed, or religious etc), pay (if you’re going direct), camp schedule (some start as early as May, some late June), activities at camp (you may want certain activity or sport to teach), values? All camps have different values, sleeper camp or day camp? and lastly do they hire internationals? Some camps in the US don’t. Hope this helped :)
Hi, just wanted to ask whether you do actually need any skills/experience that are listed on most websites when applying for camps like teaching activities or assisting. I’ve always wanted to do it but haven’t actually built up any skills over the years in terms of teaching sports etc, I’ve always been good with kids and would love to go get involved and work over there just not sure whether I would match required criteria’s? Is it possible to go with no skills?
I’m applying today!! :)) A quick question I have is during the application process do you need to make a video about yourself and attach it to your application? As it says something about that on the bunac website, I hope that makes sense 😆xxx
Yay!! That’s so exciting, I applied five years ago now and didn’t have to do a video but it might have changed now! I’d say just start the application and it’ll ask you for it if you need it! X
a good one to do is old teachers! for camp america they have to have a "professional email" so it can't just be a personal one. They are quite picky with it, for example i tried to have someone i babysat for do a reference and it wasn't accepted so i would suggest a teacher and your old boss
Hi i had an interview with a camp. I contacted with e mail. And i'm supposed to be placedbut Camp America has not sent my profile to camp so i'm not placed yet officially. How long does it take is it due to holiday or christmas ?
I’m going to film a video on this next week! All I’d say is make sure you take every document you have with you just incase, and follow the checklist your agency sends you!
Hoping to go to camp for the first time this year! Your videos are so so helpful thank you!
on the CIEE portal it gives an option to ad medical forms and police check but I thought I added that after? I feel so lost.

Do Bunac not have an orientation day in the UK like Camp America and Americamp do?
Victoria what would really fail you from not getting accept to camp in the interview.
What are some Considerations one can make when choosing a designated camp to work at ?

I have my interview with camp america in 4 days. And after that my profile will be uploaded. Really scared about being placed to late for my visa
It’s not late at all! I didn’t even sign up to a program until February so you’re still really early with everything!

I think it just really helps your application. I didn't (I'm with Camp America) and I still go offers and a placement :)

Yeah you can normally ask teachers or family friends, just can’t be your parents or family!

I’m not too sure as I’m not with camp America but I’d assume it was due to the holidays! Drop them an email in the new year for an update!
i've got my visa appointment at the start of january and i'm super worried i'm gonna forget to bring something 😬any advice?
