    Just getting started with Trello but have using been Evernot for a while. The section on how to link them together was excellent, and your Trello tips came in handy.

    Thanks Michael. This is just what I needed to understand how to get these various elements to work together. I particularly like the idea emptying all of the clutter in my brain and on my desk into one, integrated free system! Than you,

    I appreciate your presentation and the method applied in the level of stages one needs in having things done. May be it's the tune of your delivery, but, there wasn't a single term or words used by you that poses difficulty for my understanding. Your communication is powerful and direct. I am sure others will find you appreciative as i do. I am beginner, beginner and think of using your approach to have things done for me. Thanks,

    • @Alexccto

      Schurpf In addition, I am thinking to write some perl script and implement to this system by using the WWW::Trello::Lite in CPAN.
      Eg. check the weather in every morning, if it is rainy day, a card "Bring Umbrella" will be added to the "today" list.
      I have so many other ideas, the main point is "putting all the info/reminder on to the board".

    This video was shot in 2014, and Trello still doesn't have true dependencies. I still use Trello for solo projects, but had to switch to Bitrix24 for group task (free as well). Over the past five years Bitrix24 added a ton of tools for group collaboration - Gantt, dependencies, workload planning, time tracking, roles and access rights, video chat, while Trello barely changed at all. Hopefully after being acquired by Atlassian, Trello start adding new tools for teams.

    I like your system. I've been using Trello more, but wrestled because I love using Evernote/GTD/TSW. But at times it's not visual enough. I hadn't thought of cloning cards in Zapier. I just set-up that zap. When you're done with a card, you just archive it, instead of a 'done' column? Great vid!

    • @TruthWalkers
      @TruthWalkers  10 років тому

      Fully agree, the flexibility of Trello with the combination of Zapier is what ultimately led me to use GTD this way.
      Yes, I archive done cards. I had a done column for a bit but didn't find it very useful.

    what can you do in evernote with your contacts that you can't do it trello? Do you just zap contacts there to keep track of them long term?

    • @TruthWalkers
      @TruthWalkers  9 років тому

      +David Austin Actually by now I use Evernote for my contacts. Evernote has an amazing business card scanner feature which allows you to just take a picture of a business card and all the info is searchable. Great video. Last few months Evernote has synching problems on IOS 8, so my system is scr***d on daily bases. I can only use it on my laptop… I know trello allready and works on my iPhone, thank to this video I’m making the switch. Just one GTD related question…where do you keep the 20.000 - 50.000 ft information? You use in Trello only Runway and 10.000 ft tasks, right?

    • @TruthWalkers
      @TruthWalkers  9 років тому +1

      Sylvia Klop For the big picture I like Evernote. I use a notebook for all mid to longterm planning and goal setting. But any note taking app should do as long as it is part of your review.

      @TruthWalkers  9 років тому

      +Alex Zwez hey Alex thanks a lot. For emails I can highly recommend boomerang (www.boomeranggmail.com/). The only downside is you have to use gmail. Evernote is more of a lose arrangement of notes/thoughts and projects. One of my favorite features is linking between notes. This allows you to build a structure between those random notes. Experiment and you will find things you like :)

    Nice. Thank you for the hint.
    I have one question.
    In my case I have some boards shared with other users due to my projects.
    How do you manage a main board with all you To Do and the other board? Do you duplicate card in both?
    Thank you and congrats for the video!

    • @TruthWalkers
      @TruthWalkers  10 років тому +1

      Delano Castro Hi Delano, yeah this happens to me often too. My general strategy here is: Set myself as a member of that card (that way you get a notification for all comments and changes). If it is something I need to keep track of I create a card in my GTD system linking to the other card. Let me know what you think about this or what else works for you, curious to hear other ideas :)

    @quilling1 10 років тому

    What do you think about having a "done" column instead of just archiving everything? Also since you can only see one list at a time in the Trello mobile app my adjustment will be to have "doing" and "doing next" (maybe also the "done"-list to get motivation) furthest to the left while having inbox and syncing lists away to the far right, and only sort them typically once a day on the computer.
    Also, now when Trello finally supports infinite tags there's loads of new ways to implement that. Location, category and person-tags for any note for example. Maybe you already have more adjustments to tags? :)
    And thanks so much for the great video and the good overview of your system, I will try it out!!

    • @TruthWalkers
      @TruthWalkers  9 років тому +1

      quilling1 Hi, thanks for opening up a discussion! I personally wouldn't like a done column. Out of sight out mind is really my motto here. I did try a done column at first but than started moving in half finished tasks which wasn't good. A task is either done or not done. There is no in between. If it is done than you can move to the next one and check it off.
      Regarding tags, this I didn't know. Thanks a lot! Will need to use them. Thanks!

      Nole Man Hi Nole, Trello is definitely a very good tool for this. Especially if you are working with people that aren't used to working online a lot. Very intuitive. A few tips: You can see all your cards via: trello.com/USER_NAME_HERE/cards (replace USER_NAME_HERE with the actual username). Also check out how to subscribe to boards help.trello.com/article/799-subscribing-to-cards-lists-and-boards. Finally, whoever is in charge should get notification about changes. And something that is working really well: Try and identify processes as early as possible and model them in Trello. The more structure your boards have the better for everybody involved. Hope this helps. Gl with your project!
