Soap- sodium or potassium salt of longchain carbonic acids.. It forms foam and micelle only in soft water bcs in hard water contians calcium nd magnesium ions and it forms scum(white like insoluble salts). Detergentes- sodium salts of sulphuric acids. It reacts with hard water also.
You were the best teacher I have ever seen Before seeing your 14 videos, I had only had idea upto ketones After watching your videos I could understand the chapter 100% Your explanation was just excellent Thank you so much 🙂

Mam here's a doubt ! In the hard water concept, how can Ca displace Na from C17H35COONa and form scum which is C17H35COOCa when Calcium comes after Sodium in a reactivity series? Na is more reactive than Ca! 30:50
sops contain c17h35cooh but detergent contain c17h35cooso3h and sops work in only soft water but detergent work in soft and hard water also____ thank you for teaching us am your fan mam for leasting classes l am watching your classes daily mam 🙏🙏🙏

mam, urs is the awesome teaching in this whole world.... and also i have a doubt maam, when soap reacts with calcium ion then how does calcium replace sodium?? because calcium is less reactive than sodium right..
Mam u told by well or ocean water if we wash any cloth we need more soap bcoz it is hard water then by which water more soap foam is formed .pls tell mam
Soaps having sodium and pottasium salts of long chain corboxylic acid ••Soaps doesn't work with hard water ••Because it doesn't contain any calcium and magnesium ions But detergents having sodium salts of sulphonic acid •• it is work with hard water ••because it contain calcium and magnesium ions
