  • www.carolinafacialplasticsurge... As a facial cosmetic surgeon and Bell's Palsy specialist in Charlotte, North Carolina, I explain how Botox can be an effective treatment for patients that have synkinesis. Synkinesis is the inability to individually move each muscle of the face after Bell's Palsy. Bell's Palsy often affects its sufferers without warning and very quickly. Visiting an experienced facial paralysis surgeon is always suggested to better understand what exactly you might be going through.
If you suffer from Bell's Palsy, contact Dr. Kulbersh today to schedule your initial consultation and to learn more about the different treatment options available to you by calling 704-323-5090.

I've had Bells Palsy for 6 months now and a doctor has recomended this treatment. I think i am still slowly recovering? Can botox injections help facilitite the recovery iteself, and aid in speeding up healing to a full recovery?

I have partial paralysis on the right side of my face due to a brain tumor on the 7th nerve that cannot be removed. This tumor was discovered in 1997. I had decompression surgery to let the tumor expand without pushing on the nerve. Fast forward, getting older I started using botox - I had one unit of botox injected in fine wrinkles under my eyes and bottom lip for fine wrinkles. When the botox kicked in, my partial paralysis is now much more than partial - it is very hard to talk and I keep biting the inside of my lips on the right side. Only one unit was injected rather superficially (according to injector). It is now 8 weeks post injection. Why is it taking so long to wear off? Is it because the muscle is already paralyzed that it is taking longer? I never thought I would say I want my partially paralyzed face back. In a nutshell, can a partially paralyzed muscle be damaged permanently by botox? Will it wear off? Will it take longer to wear off? I am constantly doing mouth exercises to try to speed up getting this botox out of my face. Im a bit freaked out. thanks for any advice
