  • This is from a couple of mornings in the last week of December 2023.
I tried a jerk shad style soft plastic for the first time ever and got a 74cm flatty on the first cast.
    Sorry about the wind noise.
Happy new year to everyone and thanks for watching my videos.

Thanks Joe, I wish our big snapper were as plentiful as they seem over there in NZ, and as close to the shore

Nice work, I’m stunned you caught a 50cm red in an estuary or lake system! I’ve never seen that before. Well done🎣

    Another cracking session
That new net is gonna do you head in when you are fishing with trebles.
Best thing you can do it throw it over board and invest in a berkley snapper silicone net with the big holes

Thanks mate. Yeah, back in early December I went looking for the one you're talking about in 4 tackle shops on the coast. They had the right width, but not the right depth. So I'm still looking. I know they exist, just can't find one.

Yeah fair enough. When I got mine I thought the same but I’ve had a 120 Jew in it. As long as more than half the fish is in it it’s sweet.
Hot tackle Morisot will sort you

Well done on a new pb plenty of nice size fish caught Pete. I think I just purchased the same net after loosing plenty of fish in the net I have a shallow one and they jump out. Keep up the great work enjoy the lure changing I've done the same.

Thanks Andrew👍 if they were jumping out of your old net, they wont be able to get out of your new one as they're pretty deep.

Some nice size to the fish Pete
Amazing how a change of presentation / bait will produce the goods after no action
Bit of a sight the Luds, close to shore & shallow
Hope ya had a Krackin Chrissy & Cheers to big Jew & Pb's for the New Year
    Tight lines

Thanks Stevo, the change of lure must have been enough to make that flatty hungry again. I'm sure I would have dragged the vibe right past it's mouth on one of the previous 20 odd casts🤷‍♂
Hope the new year brings you some big dogs too👍

    Great video Pete.
Not sure about your new net I think the old green one didn't hook up as easily as the black one.

Yes Reg, unfortunately I had to retire my old green net as it was getting too brittle and kept breaking. Im still looking for the ideal net, but cant find it. I'll keep looking.
