Its the "Heel + Toe" technique mate. Basically, as he breakes for a corner he needs some extra stopping power, therefore changes gear down for the corner to bring engine breaking into play. As he clutches in to change gear, he quickly 'blips' the accelerator which makes the revs jump and then he puts the car into gear which causes a breaking effect.
Yea I guess. Never learned this shifting technique. I want to learn it, seems like something you NEED to know when circuit racing/time attacks, etc etc.
its not about lowering the vtec point mate. the torque in B-series doesn't even come closer to K's torque. i mean I drove very fast DC2 with lowered vtec point and its like a bicycle compared to my K20a DC5 type R
You can even pop the clutch a little and get little boost off the brakes. When you downshift at high speed your tires might have more resistance to spinning at the same speed as in nuetral or to be correct off gear. So lets review downshift is acutally - resistance while nuetral is O resistance if your on the gas in an FF car your pulling it forward putting weight on the rear of the chassis getting pos reistance thats why you can burn out. hard downshifts have the oppisite effect ie you skid
thats true. but there was probably very few points in this race where any of these 3 were to far below vtec. i dont think simply raising rev limit by 600rpm would be a very reliable setup for extended periods of time. the fact is the dc5 has a better power/weight ratio than the civic and dc2. and civic has smaller tires,
But if the DC2 did get a 6 speed gearbox, 4th and 5th could be shorter. That way you didn't have those big gaps from 3rd to 4th to 5th and still be able to cruise at a reasonable rpm... Drive one with a 98spec gearbox, as the one in this race, and you'll know what I'm talking about!
Get the ctr and itr a tune for for vtec to cross at 4,200 rpm and raise the revs up 9,000 rpm and i gurantee they would be right with the dc5 itr and for only like 200 bucks for the ecu chip and tune.
They are exactly the same in a quarter mile DC2 vs DC5 according to Best motoring, so the DC5 might have a bit more torque but it's a lardy son of a bitch too.
yea to much 5k on the highway and with a 4'' outlet i have to wear ear protection or you go nuts!!!!! BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA repeat for 3 hours!
@keego92 EP3s are shit. DC2s and EK9s have the best chassis and suspension setups. K20 in one of them ftw. If not then a DC5 but EP3s are shit lol. NO LSD?! Not a real type-r more like a VTI.
i love the jdm dc2.
and i like the b series more. the b feels honest. real and a bit rude and i like that a lot.
I love the way they downshift using the brake + gas, I need to learn how to do that better. Im sure it will considerably increase my track times.
i love kinoshati's reaction when he was overtaken lol
A DC2 with a 6 speed gearbox would be near perfection!

H2B bluetop with RBC manifold, there's a win
@keego92 I feel nostalgic about the B18C. I can't let it go, plus IMO it sounds better than the K20
The great battle of the FF's!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats because of the displacement, if you check the numbers from a b20 vtec, you'll find that its very similar to the k20a or even better
A DC2 with a K20A/6speed IS perfection.
cool heel toe technique,looks really tricky to do,but i guess it just takes practice and yo gata get the feel for it:)

i love sound deadening in dc5 :D

Torque was the winning factor, you could see the EK9 struggling on the uphill part of the straight.

Yes. I didnt know what to call it, but that seems right thats what I see. How is that compared to double clutching?
it's a shame that honda downstroked the b18c to 1.6l... the b18c would fit great to the ek9 =)
Well i have a k20 ep3 type r ukdm and a b16 can stay with me all day long, they may have less torque but they are way lighter
VTEC sound!it's a music to my ear yo!!!!
How do you have a DC5 type r? They were never sold in the states
I'd take all of them over some shitty Golf or Focus.
In this kind of race you will never get to use the 6th.
@dilawer dc5 type r needs to be imported for a few grand I'm not 100% sure it's legal because of right hand drive
@wiskimike ya B18C would of been perfect
im new to manual, why does he press on all 3 pedals? Anyone?

@nickamary3
i feel you
I dont know. Now, make me know it.
No, a RSX with a k24 and d2c suspension setup would be.
Ok but its a stock for stock race..... so putt 200 in the dc5 and you would still be smoking the dc2 and ek9
I love my EK :)
My dc2 spanked a ep3 today!
@dilawer321 I never lived in the states :)
1.6 vs 1.8 vs 2.0..
more like k20+dc2=ultimate
@UsmanFit

JDM has LSD
@happyontheroad DC2's must never have 6 speed.....too lame
the civic revs past 9000, you sap
4:53 no vtec!! ek9 stupid ratios
3:39 LOL
