YOU ARE A SAVIOR! I had struggled with this problem and couldn't figure it out even after looking through articles and "solutions." Amazing. Can't thank you enough!
This is great, solved a bigger doubt
Thanks Chris
Chris thanks for this very important video. I was always puzzled by these error messages and how to fix them even though I have a bit of a programming background. I had to watch this video twice making careful notes of your 3 examples. Thanks again.
Thanks Chris, appreciate the effort putting this together!
Awesome video, thanks Chris!
this video is the best one on this topic so far, thank you so much.
Very well explanation and demonstration to get around this errors. Very easy to follow and very helpful, thanks a lot.
So so helpful! I've been messing around with LOD expressions instead of using your much easier solutions. Thank you! 🙏
You are so welcome!
This video helped immensely. Thank you.
Thanks Chris. You are a STAR.
Thank you so much for this video! This has helped me a ton at work
Thanks Chris, that's great and helpful. A kind request, if possible can you make video demonstration and possible workarounds for - Error "Cannot blend the secondary data source because one or more fields use an unsupported aggregation."
Very good video, right to the point & explaining the details.
Grats
Thank you so very much Chris! I am a beginner Tableau user and was I truly stumped by the AGG/AVG issue. You helped me immensely.
Wow man. Brilliantly explained. Subbed!
Welcome aboard!
A must watch video that will clear a lot of confusion for attr max min and agg. I hope u can share formatting in Tableau, one more confusing feature.
Good video Chris
Very helpful! Solved my problem. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Really helpful, thanks!
Superb!
What if I would like to take two Subcategory and Sum(Sales) for it, and have to show it. what would be the calculations, as attr, min, max will not gonna be work here.
great !
We have certain reports created using SQL server and some are using Oracle as data sources. Our data sources gets refreshed at random schedules. Let's say databases refresh completes by early morning 7am and we scheduled reports update to start at 12pm using normal schedule processing. There is a gap of more than 5 hours between database refresh and reports refresh. User wants the updated reports soon after database refresh. They want a mechanism like once database refresh completes it has to trigger resports schedule automatically so that they need not to wait so much time (like 5 hours in normal scheduling). Is there any way to achieve this.
Note: Database refresh completes sometimes at 7am, sometimes at 8am etc. It's not fixed one.
Use tabcmd refresh extract and schedule it with Control-m
Hi
First thanks for the video , it is crystal clear,
I have a question :
If i have 2 dimensions in the fixed expression , does the order matters ? Example :
Fixed : city, country is different from FIxEd : country, state ?
Great to hear you liked the video. The order doesn't matter, both 'FIXED city, country:' and 'FIXED country, city:' will give the same result.
I need to get the index of the max value within each pane (i.e., the x value associated with the maximum y value, but the y value in may case is from COUNTD). Seems like a simple enough concept, and I could do it very easily in Python, but this aggregate nonaggregate mixing in Tableau is choking me up. Any ideas....? Is there a single command or something more complex?
Hi Chris, you should be able to use Tableau Calculations for this. The setup of this calc will depend on the setup of your sheet a bit but the following calc should point you in the right direction
IF WINDOW_MAX(COUNTD([Measure]))=COUNTD([Measure]) THEN INDEX() END
You'll need to edit the WINDOW_MAX to calculate for each pane, to find the max value in each pane.
You need to get a better mic. You can get one for $50.
man wtf get a microphone
