been confused and lost for a long time until i saw this video, thank you for clearing fog for me! Best LOD explanation, gonna forward this to many people lol
Great explanation, Thank you! However, would you please tell me how to get 'Manufacturer" linked to Superstore data source? My version does not have it.
A brief sum of the video: FIXED is most powerful, does NOT depend on what's in the view, and can replicate all the functions of INCLUDE/EXCLUDE; INCLUDE/EXCLUDE depends on the level of detail already in the view, INCLUDE adds additional dimensions to the calculation, whereas EXCLUDE removes some existing dimensions from the calculation.
Great vid! I need more help, trying to nest an IF statement into Fixed LOD calculation and going in circles. Summary of Desired outcome: Dimension "Ind" represents a transaction type, of which I only want to view for values "ABD", "YTD" and "ENC." The measure "Amount" contains the values which should be aggregated at these levels: • If dimension "Ind" is "ABD" include sum of all values in measure "Amount" • If dimension "Ind" is "YTD" include sum of all values in measure "Amount" • If dimension "Ind" is "ENC" include only sum of current year (21) values in measure "Amount" Anyone?! :)
Has anyone ever used the Fixed LOD expression to calculate average monthly sales for a listing of account IDs? I am struggling to do so because within my data not all accounts have transactions in every month which is causing the calculation to return higher that average monthly sales.
I can’t seem to get the AVERAGE of the SUM of sales of different product categories (each category contains hundreds of different products). So it would just be one number, the average sales of each category. Anybody got any hints? I feel like it’s super easy but My brain has dried up..Much appreciated!
At 9:47 when you removed Manufacturer from the shelf, and before you took the averages, why didn't the Include column values remain "the same" best they could considering the fact that the Include calculated field was supposed to always use the Manufacter LOD?
Great, I was thinking why would you not always use fixed, then you said you almost always do. Otherwise, someone could absent mindedly drag something on to the grid and the numbers would change. 😠

I have one question, how can I show the vendor with the Max (ave) sales?
Great vid! I need more help, trying to nest an IF statement into Fixed LOD calculation and going in circles.

At 9:47 when you removed Manufacturer from the shelf, and before you took the averages, why didn't the Include column values remain "the same" best they could considering the fact that the Include calculated field was supposed to always use the Manufacter LOD?
