I am going to try this tonight. My wrist was hurting last night and I had no clue why. A quick Google search and a reddit dive and I got to your video.
I've been using this pour method for a while now, in fact since reading your book. Feels weird an unnatural at first but once you do it a few times it's easy and makes sense. Thank Jeff
Thank you for posting this advice on youtube, I'm only starting out after studying for a year here in Argentina and I'll be saving up some money to get the book some day :)
Thanks, Jeffrey. In my 35+ year wine career, it's the twisting "wine keys" aka corkscrews. And then twisting off the corks from the "screws". Gets really old at the end of a long day. One of my compadres who has been at this longer than I have had surgery a few years ago. Cheers.
You can look for handled corkscrews that unscrew the cork for you. (Mine is super cheap and brandless so I can’t give specific guidance.) The kind where you clamp the handles around the neck, push down a large lever (cork screws in), pull it up (cork removes), push the handle down and then back up (cork unscrews on itself). Very little effort, super helpful.
Yea, when I read it in the book, and switched it was almost an immediate relief when pouring. Also why I switched to cobbler shakers, you can use it in front of you instead of next to your ear. So much quieter.
I completely rotate my wrists backward from their stationary position, grab bottle and pour that way, whilst pouring my wrist is in normal position, forearm straight forward. Elbow at a 90°

Any time my friend!
Been doing this since I got your book about 7-8 years ago, helped me a ton! Thanks! 😊
Interesting video and important topic, delighted to see you looking so well.

I love techniques and refinement. This is a great watch!
Thank you! Cheers!

I use a Boston shaker and shake it from the heart in front of me. Works the same and as you say reduces the noise next to your head

Is this our video for the year?
Hahaha no, this is •hopefully• the first of many to come!
