Gatekeeping really isn't the right word here. Nobody's being kept out, it's just an argument about the definition of a genre. It's not like they're saying the game isn't allowed to exist unless it's a roguelike.

it's just a shame since very few people play the old roguelikes anymore, or even know what the original rogue is. angband or omega or nethack are such enormous influences on modern crpgs, have greater depth than many of them, and yet they're all but forgotten. the genre as a name is just a name, but that people have been distracted from the ancestral games which are a great pleasure to those who have happened to discover them is a sad thing for people who want to share but lack the social skills necessary to not seem like some jerk poindexter.

The way the water bottle ice thing was explained to me is that the water is cooled just past freezing, but it lacks the activation energy needed to actually form the crystals. The already formed crystals act as a catalyst to make the transition easier (at least that is what I’ve been led to believe)
At this point, point crow should just put a penny on a string and dangle it infront of the camera when ever he has to go off screen to keep viewer retention.

Bro gets a free Abra, handed to him on a silver platter, all he has to do is get it to evolve and learn attacks to be an incredible team member. (Easy as leaving it alive in the party for it to get experience.) Immediately tosses it for a Yamper, doubling up on Electric types with Pikachu. He could’ve should’ve tossed the Meowth he was using before Abra, payday is virtually useless since he doesn’t even spend his money to buy healing items between rounds. Also it had technician, not pickup, so he wasn’t getting free items from it.

Because it works. Streaming is a popularity contest. So to some degree it's going to be people emulating other successful people. To some degree it's just going to be that people with that personality type end up being the successful ones so that's what you see. There's a lot that factors in
