    I have Dobinson 3" MRR lift with 285/70Rr17 BFG KO2's on my 2020 ORP. They fit fine without rubbing or a BMC. When I decided to add spindle gussets, I had to get a body mount chop and add wheel spacers. I would highly recommend wheel spacers to anyone with a 3" lift because it provides a lot of stability at high speeds. I am using the TRD Pro rims and have built my vehicle out for speed.

    Awesome video and the gallery is what all 4runner facebook groups should have pinned to their page!

      Agreed! That would be incredibly helpful for anyone in those groups when it comes to seeing what fits your ride and what is needed to make certain setups fit.

    As a new 2022 TRD ORP 4Runner owner (8 wks), and thinking of lift / wheel combo, but being ignorant to all of the variables … I have found this video highly informative! Now if only I lived in the states and not Canada for affordable access to parts 😒

    Solid info. Could mention that a lot of guys add the 1.25 or 1.5in wheel spacers commonly referred to as spider trax which dramatically changes wheel offset and introduces lots of rubbing even with stock wheels tires and suspension. Anything over 3.5-4in is max you can go with front IFS before angles are maxed out and there is no down travel left. 4runners don't mind taller tires, they don't like wider tires or more negative offset. The 255/80's and now a 255/85r17 made by Mickey Thompson are good choices.

    I know this video focused mainly on tires, but it might also be worth mentioning that a 17” wheel is the smallest size that will clear a 5th gen’s brakes. Tacomas can go down to 16”, but 4Runners can’t. I started off with the Pro Fox suspension with the Westcott lift kit and 285/70/17s on the TRD Pro wheels with no trimming (fender liners did need to be moved). I’ve since upgraded to Method wheels with a 0 offset, Icon 2.5 suspension (Dobinsons Extreme HD rear springs), Element UCAs, and Total Chaos LCAs and links. When I need new tires, I’ll regear to 4.56s and 35” tires.

    I am running a 285/70/17 on SCS wheels with a -38 offset. I had to do a viper cut on the front bumper, BMC, and trim the fender rocker end caps. I have a 1.75in lift on front and 1in in rear. I am using the stock UCA and have + caster maxed out. It just clears and occasionally will rub the back of the front wheel wells when fully articulated.
    I am planning on getting 295/70's next, lifting it slightly more, getting adjustable UCA's, and may have to smash in the pinch welds.

    285/70/17 is what I use on a 7in width, I air down to 20lbs on the stock TRD black wheels

    I just recently installed the Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro stage 2 lift. 3 inch front 2 rear. I went with the beefier rear springs that adds over 600lbs of payload. Doing so gave it a little forward rake. Once I get the 5th wheel swing out and the back loaded up with gear it should level out. I went with 17×8.5 -12 offset RRW RR7H wheels wrapped in 285/70/17 General Grabber X3's. I had to remove the front mud flaps and do some trimming to the bumper/liner. I thought I was good but still hear a little rubbing while backing at full lock. I might do a "mild viper cut". I'm not crazy about how it looks from different angles. 😏 I'll add the info/pics to the gallery soon! 🤙🏽

      Installed IMS Dobinsons leveling kit on T4R ORP w/SPC UCA on rr7 -12 offset on 275 BFG KO2’s. removed mud guards and still have slight rubbing on body mount @ full lock. GL with your lift.

    I have a ‘22 TRD ORP w/ KDSS. For a lift I have a Bilstein 5100 setup with 2.5 in the front and 1 in the back. Tires are Wildpeak 275’s. Slight run when locked in reverse but cut to eliminate the rub was minimal and unnoticeable on the exterior.

      How do you like the ride of the bilstein's? I'm thinking about them for my 4Runner, but because of the price I can't help think of them as a low end shock, and I'm thinking they're going to ride stiff.

    I have a 2016 4Runner TRD Pro. So far, I've been running 265/70/17 and have not had to trim anything. Go figure. I am considering 275s but I'm not sure how that will change performance in snow, if at all. I know it won't help gas mileage.

    How would I be able to check the lift height I have on the used 5th Gen 4Runner Trail Premium that I just purchased? I believe I've read that I measure from center of wheel to bottom of middle-fender edge. But what is the OEM height to measure against, and is this the correct method? Any tips/caveats to measuring? Thank you!!!

    Very informative but with one exception. Recently many 4wheelers have chosen to use the pizza cutter tires. In my case I am looking at the 255x80r17. Where does that size tire fit in this discussion. They are 33's but only 10in wide.

    • @TrailBuilt
      @TrailBuilt  Рік тому

      It could fit however you will more than likely need a lift or leveling kit to clear that space. I could only find one person running specs close to what you are looking at! www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery/2310016/2022-toyota-4runner-rrw-rr7-h-proryde-leveling-kit

    Great video. I have a TRD Off road. It has KDSS. What’s the realistic max lift that can be done with KDSS? I have the Bilstein 5100s set to 1.75 on the front and 1” lift on the back. I have the BFG KO2 275s. They rubbed in the front. Had to push the fender liner a bit and trim about 1” off the fender. I’d love to put larger tires but with the KDSS it seems I’m at the limit already. Any thoughts on this?

    • @TrailBuilt
      @TrailBuilt  Рік тому +1

      We recommend lifting KDSS equipped 4Runners a maximum of 2.5” in front and 1” in rear!

    I wish you would of addressed the issue of what issues people who put 285x70 17R or larger tires what effect it has on other issues mechanically it caused negatively. Is the transmission strong enough axles transfer case and last ride quality ?

    • @scoobysid04
      @scoobysid04 2 місяці тому

      33s imo are the max for a 5th gen 4Runner. If you go bigger I’d recommend a lighter wheel. Also after the 33s it’s recommended to change out control arms, ball joints, etc. the transmission should be ok if your not towing.
