THE HU interpreted the song and expressed it as generations after generations destroying our mother planet, and our ancestors, through the power of shamanism, has been observing us. So the lyrics are like our ancestors are saying we are watching you, leading yourselves to ruin.

OMG, THANK you! I've watched a dozen reactions to this video, Leann, and you are the FIRST to really get the point of the narrative. It's basically as you said, we as humans have spent countless generations destroying our beautiful planet collecting gold. The four main members of the band represent the four elements - fire, water, air (electricity), and earth - and they are screaming at this human being to stop upsetting the balance between them. Great cover of a great song, but as an added bonus, an even more thought-provoking and timely message of our 21st Century environmental peril. Love you guys! And Ari, your excitement is so much fun to watch!

The Hu must be doing VERY well for themselves. The difference in production value between this music video and Wolf Totem is like night and day. They are still just as amazing and I look forward to more.
They are globally famous for good reason and every vocalist in rap.or metal wants to work with them.
And they use their fame for THIS ecological message.

The guy with the wings is a Mongolian Shaman
Also yeah he dies like 3 times, the shaman leads him back into life and he goes back. After he's spent two lifetimes destroying the world he lives in agony for a lifetime. At the end he dies after watering the ground and life begins to spring there again.

This reminds me of when Johnny Cash covered Hurt. Just like when Johnny did that and made the song his own, The Hu did so with Sad But True.

I saw somebody in another comment section who speaks Mongolian say that it just happened to work out perfectly. The iambic pentameter is almost exact when they switch it over to Mongolian
She got the points of understanding video. If she got little bit deeper thought she got the vision of what is going on in this world.
I recently had an epiphany about the song and music video. What if the human in the video was being influenced into greed, and the influencers were the band playing? Think about it, "I'm your dreams, make you real. I'm your eyes when you must steal. I'm your pain when you can't feel." I'm, I'm, I'm, etc. The band seems to represent the dark forces influencing the human in the garden. And at one moment, they were saying those lyrics straight up to him while he was dead for a minute. Oh, the winged drummer entity is likely another elemental being of death and rebirth. And it's interesting because at the video intro, they were walking into presence, as if by being summoned to do their nasty work on the human.
The song also fits with this because it's basically the dark side of living. The band represent that dark side, the human is the victim, and the drummer is a version of death that repeats the cycle. It's ALL CONNECTED!
(edit: it's likely that the death drummer is the cause of it all!)

The wings represent Tengri; the sky god of the ancient indigenous faith of Mongolia (Tengrism). You are on the ball about your interpretation, I think. It is a running theme in their music, as is the death of tradition and culture.

If you are into this style metal, Ari, you should have a very close look to the albums of Tengger Cavalry (Tengri is a mongolian god). They were a New York based mongolian folk metal band and quite unique and musically very cool. Mongolian themed lyrics etc… I came back to them lately, because The HU is so popular these days and this reminded me of this cool band. Unfortunately they split 2018 and vocalist/frontman Nature G. died in 2019. (Wikipedia is not actual in this regard)

Pretty good take and for the most part on point. Basically it has the message talking about how greed of man is destroying the environment and by the time the man realizes this it is way to late to save it.

Mongolians are a mix of Buddhist and animist beliefs and some Christian influence too. You understand perfectly what this was saying, yes it's reincarnation until you figure out what you did wrong which is very Buddhist. Better than most reviewers. Glad you dug up the lyrics.

The Hu sang the song word for word in English sentence structure like Metallica does. Mongolians wouldn't understand it because their sentence structure are different.
