They only utilize one electric guitar, one bass guitar, two morin khuurs (plugged in), a tovshuur (a traditional 3 string guitar like instrument), Mongolian drums, the traditional drum set, and occasionally the mouth harp and the flute. They get the electric guitar sounds out of the morin khuurs. It's amazing the sound they can get out of their combination of instruments. They were classically trained for years so they know their instruments very well. Most of them can play multiple instruments. Fabulous musicians.
Yes 🙌🏽 I love the HU Band and these artists are top 🔝 level instrumentalists. I love “Suggan Essena “ the Star Wars game OST. I love it because the studio highlights each member as they display their Incredible Sound and it’s Incredible. Thank you for reacting to the HU Band, once again. 🎼💫🎶🙌🏽
The 2 string instrument is called the Morin Khuur , (Horse Head Fiddle) just a bit more modern than the oldest stringed instrument on the planet, Qobys, from Kazakhstan that Dimash uses in his music. The 2 strings are traditionally horse hair. The second more boxy instrument is the Tovshuur. The Hu had custom instruments made to look a bit more Metal than plainer more traditional models. The hand drum is traditionally a shaman's tool. Great reaction👍 Yes, make a playlist as The Hu have lots of cool songs to explore. 🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
The HU are awesome. Jaw harp, horsehead fiddle, Morin Khuur ("guitar"). Very very VERY addictive sound. Have both their albums on repeat in the car. Enjoy !
Since a gold was found in Mongolia it started to be a time for gold mining and other metals. The beautiful nature of Mongolia is destroying currently. They sing about human greed. Every generation rebirth and do the same actions during destroying the nature. That’s why you can see how one man starts his life like a child until his death and reborn again and again, don’t understand his mistakes. The shaman (the man who is worn by special costume with the drumm in his hands) is an intermediary between the world of death and the world of lives, because Mongols are still in shamanism (the ancient worship in Eastern Asia). At the same time shamans mean roots and real culture which call to save the Mother Nature. It’s what the video shows about
There is a new band like this. Uuhai. Recommend checking out their most popular song. It's great. If you haven't seen Otyken they are similar but different. More like dance music with gorgeous Siberian tribal women. But throat singing and tribal instruments.
I do enjoy The Hu when they sing in Mongolian I find their versions of songs which they get in an English speaking singer in to do translated lyrics. For me it doesn't work! So Гунигт Гэвч Үнэн - their version of Sad But True works well. "Юу вэ юу вэ юу" (Yuve yuve yu) is a classic from them: ua-cam.com/video/v4xZUr0BEfE/v-deo.html They also did a song associated with the Star Wars franchise called Sugaan Essena (which is not in Mongolian but a made up language) The video is interesting as it an studio video so you see them including the western instruments ua-cam.com/video/oJZfEh3EciU/v-deo.html Enjoy!

I was so happy that Kirk from Metallica in a interview said he has heard this ❤
I think it was posted on one of their social media accounts.

BTW I bought your EP - it is now on my phone.
If you want to hear them imitate the sounds of hawk🪶 and horse🐎 on their instruments, check out Yuve Yuve Yu.
I'd love to see your reaction to Aaj by Bloodywood, a folk metal band from India. I really like their music.
