I have my own theory for hallucination Starline not having shadow eyes. In issue 53, Surge acknowledged how the hallucination isn’t real, therefore, this hallucination looked more unreal. In issue 54, she’s starting to believe the hallucination is real, therefore, hallucination Starline looks more real. After all, truth can be scarier then dreams.
I always figured it's because of different artists interpretations. Adam Bryce Thomas wanted to go for the creepy effect. Evan Stanely wanted to go with a more "he's they're and looks real" Starline

I was about to point that out; Surge was rather sane (relatively speaking) in Issue 53, but after failing to defeat Sonic once again, her mental state has declined further. And we all know what happens to people when they lose their sanity (and continually get shocked by electricity straight to the brain).
Tails is MVP of this issue seriously standing his ground against kit and found a way to technically beat surge. Honestly it's a shame the games don't have this.
7:11 He looks inhuman in issue 53 because his eyes are blacked out by shadow. Eyes are said to be the windows to the soul, so my take is by not showing his eyes, IDW is saying he has no soul considering all the messed up stuff he did.
This line of reasoning is the same with the One Piece villain Doflamingo (his eyes are either covered by his fancy sunglasses, or blocked by shadow).🦩🕶
I can't help but feel bad for Surge. Especially when I saw the look in her eyes when Hallucination Starline was towering over her. That and when she was brought to tears before Kit comforted her. If Eggman acquires Starline's data on creating cyborgs, he might create more "glitch characters"... I hope Whisper's Wispon gets upgraded to fit more Wisps. Preferably the full set from Sonic Colors (Ultimate).
I can't feel bad for her yet. This was all her fault. She stole the tech, to hurt, destroy, and try to kill others. As far as I know, she's a dangerous mentally unstabled character that would kill you without preamble 😅
I love to see Surge and Kit getting taken down in a fight and proving they’re a threat, but seeing the Starline memory haunting her was freaky. Poor duo are still victims at the end of the day, and I don’t know if smashing Badniks or heroes really will fix anything for them. Plus, Metal Sonic could go for round 2 with them, and I’d love to see him not take defeat lying down again. Sonic and Tails are MVP though. So awesome to see Tails stand up to a rival in his own fight. He’s amazing. Now let’s just hope Whisper can get her friends back soon. Seeing her with the broken wispon was heartbreaking.
I like to think why Starline’s eyes aren’t shadowed is because he really is starting to get into Surges head while before he was only partly there and now it’s like he’s standing right next to her. But obviously it could simply be an artist goof.
I loved this issue. I wonder, if Sonic was at max power and with no injuries, could his fight with Surge ended differently, or her new powers would prove to be too much for the hedgehog? I know it in their "program" but I truly believe that Kit loves Surge as a little brother towards his big sister and Surge really needs him to heal and regain some of her control and sanity. The last pages prove how they work so well together. Surge might be the power and muscle, but Kit is her heart and brain. So the rest of this year will be focused on the fight between the three tag teams. This will be good... I love the representation of the Vocaloid in this world. But this gives me a question: in the IDW world, is Mika a hologram or a real live singer?
i think he's injured specifically to say hes at a disadvantage. at the beginning of this fight he did very well so surge would certainly have a harder battle at the least.
my predictions for Issue 55 and 56 sonic IWD comics Issue 55 Sonic and Tails as well as Eggman and Metalsonic race to the hideout of Surge and Kit, and Surge realizes that thers ni escep from Dr. Starline challucination and Kit start realizing ther is somthink wrong with Surge Issue 56 Surge fights Sonic and Metalsonic and tails tries to talk Kit over and finally Surge and Kit will: a) - they will join sonic, tails and the rest or b) - they will be neutral towards them
I'm thinking surge might overload from absorbing too much energy. You see when she sucked up cyan she was in visible pain to force it into her. That probably also explains her Starline hallucination becoming more real to her with her mind becoming more unstable from the power increase.
Seems we'll have a three way battle between the three duos, with whatever badniks Eggman brings and the ones Starline re-programmed to serve him, Surge and Kit at Base Sigma.
I had personal problems with the ending. But that's because I wanted to see Kit stumble across Surge, while she was monologing and attacking Sonic and Tails. Maybe it'll get him to realize Sonic had no idea Surge was alive. He would still join Surge, but he would also probably still have that imprint in Sonic to not want to hurt him? Either way, I liked the comic. Tails is amazing. Sonic is spectacular for staying on the brightside
I actually like the Starline's appearance with his real eyes instead of spooky soulless in last issue. The Dynamo cage is still a prototype and the contine usage without fixing the side effect will make Statline's appearance becomes more real to Surge until he becomes a perminant phantom even if she finally ditches the Dynamo cage. Well see if my prediction is true unless Kit can help Surge by being with her. These two could be like Avengers Black widow give Hulk a lullaby.
Huh, i guess Kit vs Surge really was expecting too much, anyway a Downer Ending for these two, huh? Honestly, based on how their story has gone, I wouldn’t be surprised if that ended up being the case, actually I am starting to think that the best possible Ending that these two might have, might be a Bitter Sweet One at least, i just hope it won’t be anything TOO bad, i would like to see more of them post-this-Arc after all. Anyway, i will look forward to see the Next Issue, so where will this Arc go? I can’t wait to find out.
If the Sonic IDW comics were to have a like Anime Manga situation where there's a animation adaptation of this Sonic comics continued series I would totally watch that whole entire series. Don't get me wrong I'm still gonna watch all of Sonic Prime👍💯
Well seems like we are on with "Plot Convenience the story part 3" yes, I keep the joke because it's still all so contrived. These days wer got: - Kit taking just long enough to arrive to where Surge is busted up and unable to talk but before Sonic and Tails could remove the Dynamo Cage and free the Wisp's - Surge randomly falling because of a few screwed on the floor. - Sonic's leg just conveniently given out on him when he was able to remove the Dynamo Cage not any earlier not even when he was able to dash at top speed to Tails in the department store. - Tails plan actually working despite Surge that all Surges needed to do was grab and remove to wires. -Surge despite being shown to be worse in speed control in every possible way compared to Sonic actually being able to get the Laser Wisp from Sonic despite him also having a lot more experience with this level of speed the Wisp offer (being Light speed vs Surge supposed Speed of Electricity) - Literally no other Hero not even Tangel or really any member of the Restauration which are armed with WIspons arriving ever. - Kit despite being the "smart one" assumeing Sonic lied over "Sonic had no idea what Surge can actually survive as he has no idea about his healing factor - It's also mighty convenient that things turned out in such a way that Surge never learned that Kit was short-term teaming up with Sonic which no daub would have caused a divide between the 2 of them. Beside those are there also: Tails actually allowing Kit to bugger off with Surge despite the fact that Tails know of a sure-fire way to one shot Kit and Surge still having all of Whispers dear friends trapped in her. Which seems wildly out of character for Tails as well as Sonic too for not going after them despite his pain given especially the choices, he made during Metal Virus. Did anyone by now tell Jewel about the giant Eggman City yet. Because that seems like something important that the Restauration should properly take care off. So, I feel like I have been overly negative because of how much this current story arc runs on plot conveniences so a few nicer words. -So, it's nice to see that Belle and Whisper can bound over the writers keep screw them over - Seeing Surge emotionally break over her being a failure that can't escape her brainwashing is an interesting direction - It's good to see that at least so far, the story actually sticks with the Imposters as proper villains - Cubot having a Miku and Feels the rabbit inspired figurine is funny. - I like that Whisper still hasn't given up.
Solicits for future say they will address Eggman's base and have tangle and whisper do rockconassiance. In issue 53 even if it is a copout, jewel did explain everyone had there hands full with badniks... Even though it was established they only got aggressive if you got in their way? I wish I could love it like the artwork is always great, the new elements interesting and the characters mostly well written but it just got so many instances of conveniences and contrivances that break the characters, the world and my immersion that I just can't.

On another note, I think we may have overlooked another plot convenience with sonic and tails not getting kit to tell them everything about himself surge starline and what he had done to them. At least with kit anyway and also sonic would have doubt surge was dead and not bother to tell kit. So convenient they weren't able to get that information as they were going or got home. Especially with the curiosity of tails. He'd really wanted to know and if sonic felt bad about surge I think he'd want to know more about kit since he helped them. Or am I wrong here?
No good banter with sonic and surge is dissapoint. Instead he gives generic hero dialog. "You know they are living creatures? Herp derp" and his false bravado is absent. He barely talks smack at all. Not very sonic. At least tails got to be useful more than once, even though how he got the jump on surge in her current state was kinda lame. The stuff with kit was predictable for his brainwashing, but him trying his best and comforting surge can be seen as endearing. Oh and whisper being okay to even stand proper after 53 is boring.
@@thehevandragon sonic is always up for that especially when in danger himself. It's how he copes. Similar to Spider-Man making jokes to distract from the fear of the danger he encounters. Instead of meme faces sonic would give nervous cocky smiles and talk smack with thought bubbles letting us know he's actually worried. Until say something brakes his act like his leg actively paining him.
@@Snaaaaap The story. I don't know if it's because I read Archie Comic or way too many anime but I feel there's some restraint on Surge's potential. I mean, she's already powerful with cybernetic and Zombot virus that gives super regeneration faster then Sonic. She just need experience. I find it unnecessary for her to use the Cage thing to absorb Color Powers. I want her to be more then a Scourge and Eclipse wannabe. She can be a reminder of being a hero doesn't always results good outcome. Adding flaws to Sonic's morality, especially after the whole Zombot incident. Heck, if she has Sonic's DNA, she can tap into Negative Chaos Energy and it grows by her emotions. And instead of Dr. Starline ghost, make it the Phantom Ruby feeding on her fear and weakness. Showing Infinite is alive and is using Surge as a living battery to grow stronger and destroy Sonic's morality. Two birds with one stone. Or Ruby. But I don't know. I must be overthinking things too seriously.
@@bryanneyra7483 I was initially thinking surge's powers would've evolved on their own rather than stealing a gizmo and Not stealing wisps. Like getting all magneto like at the start of issue 53, but the comic drops it for generic hand to hand. I guess the writer artist thought it was too hard and gave up. Whisper using her wisps to get around surge throwing stuff via magnetism would've been more interesting than her just stealing them. Just have her charge up by grabbing electrical devices or a powerline. XD
@@Snaaaaap Given that Sonic's speed has no limit, it might implied Surge's electrical absorption has no limit. The downside is that she's new to fighting opponents who are way too powerful. She almost lost to Metal Sonic, was beaten by Sonic who barely fought seriously and now she lost because she arrogantly short out her brain by amping up her voltage to a limit she's not ready to tolerate. I saw fan art theorized Surge was a fan of Sonic in the past. If that was canon, imagine Sonic's guilt that an innocent girl had turned into a monster because he chose not to finish off Eggman. He already felt bad enough when he gets blamed for the Zombot incident, and this one would really hurt him more.

Haven't seen Hologram used around the Sonic characters yet. That's more reserved for the top gu6s like Eggman and Tails

@@thehevandragon sonic is always up for that especially when in danger himself. It's how he copes. Similar to Spider-Man making jokes to distract from the fear of the danger he encounters. Instead of meme faces sonic would give nervous cocky smiles and talk smack with thought bubbles letting us know he's actually worried. Until say something brakes his act like his leg actively paining him.

@@Snaaaaap The story. I don't know if it's because I read Archie Comic or way too many anime but I feel there's some restraint on Surge's potential.
I mean, she's already powerful with cybernetic and Zombot virus that gives super regeneration faster then Sonic. She just need experience. I find it unnecessary for her to use the Cage thing to absorb Color Powers. I want her to be more then a Scourge and Eclipse wannabe. She can be a reminder of being a hero doesn't always results good outcome. Adding flaws to Sonic's morality, especially after the whole Zombot incident.
Heck, if she has Sonic's DNA, she can tap into Negative Chaos Energy and it grows by her emotions. And instead of Dr. Starline ghost, make it the Phantom Ruby feeding on her fear and weakness. Showing Infinite is alive and is using Surge as a living battery to grow stronger and destroy Sonic's morality. Two birds with one stone. Or Ruby.
But I don't know. I must be overthinking things too seriously.
@@bryanneyra7483 I was initially thinking surge's powers would've evolved on their own rather than stealing a gizmo and Not stealing wisps. Like getting all magneto like at the start of issue 53, but the comic drops it for generic hand to hand. I guess the writer artist thought it was too hard and gave up. Whisper using her wisps to get around surge throwing stuff via magnetism would've been more interesting than her just stealing them. Just have her charge up by grabbing electrical devices or a powerline. XD
@@Snaaaaap Given that Sonic's speed has no limit, it might implied Surge's electrical absorption has no limit. The downside is that she's new to fighting opponents who are way too powerful. She almost lost to Metal Sonic, was beaten by Sonic who barely fought seriously and now she lost because she arrogantly short out her brain by amping up her voltage to a limit she's not ready to tolerate.
I saw fan art theorized Surge was a fan of Sonic in the past. If that was canon, imagine Sonic's guilt that an innocent girl had turned into a monster because he chose not to finish off Eggman. He already felt bad enough when he gets blamed for the Zombot incident, and this one would really hurt him more.
