    This video is on the money. I worked a 10+ hour day today and only made about $145. Now I’m tired because I gave all my energy in the shift at work. I feel used because the wages aren’t even enough to literally survive.

    I work 3rd shift from 8pm to 6am 5 days a week. Sometimes work would call me to work an extra day. I was feeling burnt out and stressed out. Even lost weight. That's when I told my job, I rather work 4 times a week or I'll walk away. They approved. I'll take time over money any day to focus on my well being. They even called me if I wanted more hrs. Lol I just turned off my phone, focusing on me. The money will always be there, your health/mental health won't

    working creatively trumps working hard and even working smart. The difference is working smart you work with what you currently know you can improve on and change. When you work creatively you reflect on your methods and resources and this taps into the unknown something that you were previously unaware of. Also working creatively you do another thing you gather new information from outside resources and methods from different people, places and things from the space of the unknown which is why it's more powerful than working smart.

    Exactly, From my personal experience i I put my own weekend time to finish some tasks in advance to make myself feel good and show that i am a hard worker but the reality is my current salary is way too less than compared to other team members who are in same designation level. And after a lot of introspection, it is because of my own belief system. I always thought that i may be lacking some skills not sure why and that thought always made me not negotiate/speak up for a better salary. But now that wont happen anymore

    Working really hard with overtime and all that will burn you out and ultimately lead to poor health. Therefore you need to be self aware of the situation and do these 2 recommended. One - Save as much money as possible if possible, while your in that situation. Two - know when to get out, before it takes over your life

    It depends on the job: if you are paid on an hour-by-hour basis, short bursts of hard work for max. 2-month periods can be beneficial, if ALL of the extra income vs. a normal salary is directed to investments. I found that the more I worked, the more I saved or invested.
    Contrary to the opinions of this video, I have come to realise that physical exercise is a waste of time. It made me feel emotionally happier, but had absolutely zero effect regarding health benefits. I noticed that exercise only influenced how much I ate: I ate less when I didn't exercise, thereby saving money on the food bill. I do use a bicycle, but strictly as a mode of transportation.

      Qualified schmallified...Lookup side hustles like: selling online, selling digital items (like templates, books, calendars, schedulers, coloring books, children's books), look at fiverr, redbubble(print on demand), etc. Print on demand is usually free. Sell courses online, etc, etc. Some people are making 10k a month in very limited time compared to 40hr a week jobs. Just ideas, not saying you'll be quitting your job soon, but it is possible. :)

    Imagine working smart as a programmer.... How does one work smart as a programmer?

    • @StriderBillman
      @StriderBillman 2 роки тому

      Yeah being a programmer requires non-routine thinking all the time.
      Some ideas though:
      - Make scripts or notes on any routine tasks, such as uploading code to git, making builds, flashing hardware images.
      - Reduce any meetings to emails or shared documents whenever possible
      - Take online classes to update your skills, especially if you learn more efficient ways of implementing things
      - Challenge any duplicate or redundant bug issues, so that they could be closed without wasting anyone's time working on it
      - Re-use existing code, if possible, instead of re-inventing the wheel. Also refactor any re-usable code into functions for future efficiency.
      - If you're building an API to be used by other dev's, document it well to reduce questions.
      - Stack Overflow!
