  • WEN GENERATOR HIGH ALTITUDE KIT INSTALL | 3800W 5630i Model
It's a kit, this is how it is installed, done and done...
I install the 6000-8000 foot jet kit. I’ll have to wait til spring before I can go test it out. That’ll be part 3.
    Check out part 1!

Perfect timing. I picked up my new Wen 2300w generator. There was no mention in any description that I would need this kit. We are camped outside of Williams Arizona at 6800 feet. So I will need to order the kit and get it jnstalled. Thank you for the easy explanation of how to install (and uninstall).

Good to see your unit is doing well. Wanted to mention one thing I learned about high altitude. The high altitude kit will help but will never have the same power output at altitude as it will at sea level. All generators are the same . Less oxygen will give less power.. I hope you run full synthetic oil after you get some hours on it. Good luck.

Thanks! Hopefully this thing will have enough power in reserve for my uses.

Dude. Seriously thank you so much for this video. The instructions from wen were so incredibly frustrating and ugly. You win the internet today my friend!

I saw your other video showing this generator running the A/C at 10k feet. A friend of mine bought a brand new Honda 2000 watt inverter generator and brought it up to our campsite here in Colorado that was also at exactly 10k feet. The thing wouldn't even start up. I'm surprised the WEN ran as good as it did up there without the high altitude jet.

Thanks. I’ll be curious to take her back out the the high elevations this summer.
I wonder if that Honda did just fine at lower elevations.

This is good info for me to consider. We live in Colorado at approx 8000feet. We have a travel trailer arriving within the month that we will be doing mostly boondocking it Colorado and all of the immediate surrounding states. I'd love to put a soft start on the a/c and be able to power it with a 2000-2500 watt generator. But....I haven't had a generator that size up at the altitudes we'd be at.
      Safe travels to all!

I wish the Wen company would have made a flexible rubber cover that could be fit into the recessed control panel area to shield/cover it from the elements like rain, moisture and snow while running it out in the open. I'm almost sure that the soft covers they offer to protect their generators can't be on the unit while it's running. I just bought this generator yesterday after this ultra crummy Texas winter storm Feb 2021.

Haha, there's another part up there trying to fall out. Story of all my tinkering!! I have an old Tecumseh 11hp, watched UA-cam, said take this out and clean. Ooo-k. Uh, why doesn't it go back and seat. I DONT KNOW!

Why the larger jet for high altitude? This is a fuel jet not an air jet..

Does anyone know if you install the 6,000-8,000 ft carb jet in the WEN 3800W generator, will it also run normally at low elevations (like 200-1,000 ft)?

Excellent question! But even it it doesn't it should only take a few minutes to change the jet back!

High Altitude there’s less Oxygen so High Altitude kit is a Smaller Jet to match less Oxygen.
If run with that same jet at low altitudes, you’ll be starving the engine of fuel because there’s More Oxygen at lower altitudes.
You’ll have less power or engine won’t run at all.
As stated, just change jet back to original.

    No locktite, especially red locktite.

If you use locktite at all, at least use blue. Not sure how well locktite will even work on plastic.

IDK. I’d gladly pay $100 more for fuel injection. Maybe even more

Put a big alternator in car/truck and use battery/inverter for quieter power otherwise....
