Thank you so much!! It is really rare to find a yoga video that understands my knee limitations/pain so I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it!! 😍😍😍😍
Thanks. I am 65 but used to be much more active. I had a knee replacement which had a lot of difficulties and then discovered I had to have a kidney removed. Then discovered I had injured 4 disks in my back and my arthritis is giving me fits. I am slowly coming back from all this. I discovered your site and read the comment one person left about this video being the only one that really understood knee injuries. I started your program today, could only go for 5 minutes but it felt good to do even that. Thank you. I am glad you are better.
@@seraph44423 thanks for leaving your comment. I got a knee replacement last Oct. and have had great difficulty with the recovery. So I am trying out this video. I couldn’t do much but it was great.
I feel you. I also learned that yoga is not for injury recoveries or for loose weight. That might be a tailor made yoga therapy session. People confuse the real purpose of yoga, prepare the body for meditation (alongside a deep life philosophy) but there’s nothing more frustrating when people see their yoga teachers as physiotherapists (or phycologist) and expect that a group class will fix their injuries.
This is my first time trying Yoga. I have been an athlete for several years and I have always lifted weights and utilized cardio for my workouts. Well, age being what it is and my numerous knee injuries (as well as other injuries) over the years, I found myself in a wheel chair gaining weight. I couldn't stand for longer that 5 minutes and the pain would leave sweat running down my back. So, I had both of my knees replaced. I had an excellent surgeon who did an excellent job. However, now is the painful process of losing weight in my later 50's. Because of my weight and stress (and resulting high blood pressure) my doctor has suggested Yoga. Many times... and many times more. I have now found you. I hope you have more videos for people with knee problems.
Thank you! I had surgery 2 weeks ago and thought in all ways yoga was out! I wish I found you even 2 weeks ago, my body suffers without it! This has been a life changing moment once again in the art of modifications. I want to become a yoga instructor and this was a great reminder for the future❤
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Lauren you are brilliant. I had meniscus surgery 5 months ago and truly felt like there was "no place for me in yoga" anymore. Just as you stated. This series of reclined sun salutations, chair pose, wide angle stretch and triangle poses are genius! You brought me back to moving my body again in a yogic way. I love your quote "even if we may not be in our tip top shape there is still so much we can do" That touched my heart and I thank you for that. Namaste
This is a fantastic video - thank you! One problem I've had is even *getting* onto the floor, though. Because of a tibial plateau fracture on my left knee, I had to be non-weight bearing for nearly three months, which also weakened my good knee. And, since I had a severe distal radial fracture in my left arm as well, I still can't put weight on my left hand. Once I can safely get onto the floor, though, I look forward to doing this fabulous sequence. Thanks again!
Thank you for this video!! My mom has very painful arthritis in her wrists. I found your video for my knees and decided to share it with her. You have inspired her to continue daily yoga routine that allows her to love her body without hurting her wrists. We thank you so much for sharing this low impact yoga experience!
Wow! ❤️Thank you so much , I never thought I would enjoy yoga again after a stiff knee due to knee replacement! So happy to have found you! Keep up the great content and may you inspire many to get back to the mat! Namaste 🙏
I'm a senior, also a fitness instructor, but I have been dealing with a torn meniscus. I'm down to one crutch and transitioning to none. This video was excellent! it allowed me to do several really beneficial moves without risk of re-damaging my knee. Thanks, Lauren!
This is literally the BEST video i have found for post surgical knee recovery! I'm 6 months post surgery and unable to practice a lot of the poses. EXCELLENT MODIFICATIONS ! I do this video every day! thanks so much :)
Thank God for you! I started yoga 2 months ago for an extremely painful chronic illness. I turned to yoga and it is transforming my life. The other day I blew out my knee. My first thought was “but I won’t be able to do yoga”!! “I can’t handle not doing yoga!!” And here you are. Just finished the session with you and I feel better. Thank you! I’m glad you understand and can share this with us!!💕🦋
Thank you for this video. After suffering a plateau tibial fracture 6 mos ago, not only am I rehabbing the knee, but my whole body ACHES with inactivity. I've only done this twice, but am already feeling relief in my back and legs! Thank you! Nicole, Calgary AB
At last, I found a perfect exercise for my bad knee. I had an arthroscopic surgery last year and it didn't help my knee. Because of that I only have limitations on every activities I'd do. So exercising is a big no no for my bad knee. This yoga video is so perfect. I can't feel any pressure and pain on my knee. Please do more or longer yoga video for knee injury. Really appreciate it. X
Thank you. Finding this clip has released the frustration of being able to do 90% of a practice but fearing the 10% of the on, or transitioning over, the knees, and of course it was the 10% fear and pain that disturbed the peace of a practice. Thank you again for removing that blockage to peace.
At the age of 53 I am now recovering from my second left knee replacement in two years. Exercise has been difficult for the past three years. I was surfing the web and found this video. I am completely HAPPY that I can not scretch and release my stress with your video. I learned some alturnate poses that will allow me to conintue my yoga experience. I look forward in viewing this and more I your videos as I contintue my recovery. thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I hope you produce more videos for those of us who have suffered knee and ankle injuries. In my case, this helped me pre and post knee surgery. It also helped to improve my mood and encouraged a very active person that even during a difficult time I can continue to do good things for my body.
This yoga video was great! I had knee surgery about two months ago and this is really helping me get back into the groove of things. If you guys are taking video suggestions I would really love to see y'all do a yoga video that works on strengthening the knees and strengthening the muscles that surround the knees to prevent further injury. Maybe some kind of poses that gradually work me in to a gentle squat or a Gentle Bend. Thanks!!
How great the Universal Mother flows through us all. Am 6wk post op total knee replacement. Have missed my bi weekly yoga sessions at the gym. And I found you. Blessings Namaste.
Lauren has helped me do some amazing things in just a matter of days. I've had knee problems/surgeries since childhood that have limited my strength and flexibility. I never thought yoga would be possible with my cranky knees but this video is a fabulous way to start. Lauren, in just five days I have become stronger in my core and legs, and more flexible in all my joints. And I dont feel like a fool losing my balance with some standing poses. Thank you so much.
I had ACL reconstruction surgery 5 months ago. This is exactly what I need. It's great to have a certified yoga instructor who understands the pain and restrictions associated with knee injuries. Thank you!
Love this video.Great instructor, too. Thank you!I have a hurt knee that is taking a long time to heal so this works great for me.I would love to see you make more videos like this that keep pressure off the knee. Will we see more? Please?
Sherry GC Hi Sherry, I'm planning to film more videos next month and am considering doing a chair yoga practice. Another great option for taking all pressure off the knees!
Thank you so much for your wonderful workout. You have given me faith that I can have a yoga practice again even though I have had chronic knee issues for the last ten years. I am 62 ! It has been difficult to find a teacher who knows how to do well executed modified poses. I loved it so much I have subscribed to your channel after one session.
I've been searching for a yoga routine that accommodated my post surgery knee. This was perfect! No more time twisting or pushing my sensitive knee. Very useful!
Thank you sooooo much. I have lots of knee problems (chondromalacia and osteoarthritis) plus I am currently waiting for meniscus repair surgery which was supposed to happen this week but got cancelled. I just did your video. It was safe for my knees and my hips now feel so much looser. THANK YOU! I will be doing your video again and again!
I've had terrible knee pain lately and this gave me hope that I can do yoga again while I deal with my issues. I love that you can do vinyasa while lying down, brilliant. Thank you!
+Stephanie Kane Hi Stephanie, Lauren here. I'm so glad this resonated with you! When I was first on crutches, I was devastated! And convinced that I wouldn't be able to do yoga again. These exercises got me through a really dark/tough time so I'm glad I was able to share a little of the hope I received from them with others :). Thanks for watching!
Thank you! A snowboarding injury to my right knee and ankle has put a real damper on my fitness and yoga practice. This program allows me to practice safely and without pain!
Excellent video! Recovering from knee surgery and I feel I got my workout today! Great pace and I love the modified poses! Great for me to use in the future as a yoga teacher! Many thanks!
Thank you so much! I love these adaptations! Nursing a knee injury at present and was starting to feel really down that I couldn't do anything active. This has really helped me reconnect to my body and feel more grounded.
So glad to hear it! As I mentioned in another comment as well, this practice brought so much joy to my life at a time I felt crippled. Glad to hear it brings peace to you as well!
THANK YOU!!! I’m an avid yogi with a recent knee injury. I was afraid to try to modify poses on own at home. This has helped me so much. Thank you again!!
I've been watching this everyday... Life saver after my osteochondroma surgery on my right tibia. Thank you for developing this sequence for yogis craving for the mat after knee surgery, Lauren. And thank you Yoga TX for making this unique video!
Lauren, you are so creative. I've been asked to teach a class of knee injured students with back pain as they seem to go together. You video was perfect. Thank you.
This video is just what I was looking for...I was in a car accident and my leg movement is limited at the knee. I've been wanting to start a routine doing yoga daily but my injuries limited my workout. This is the perfect solution.
i really love this video! i have fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, & chronic tendonitis & on days when my pain level is intense, this is a great way to still get my body moving & engaged. i would love to see the injury-specific language modified to be inclusive of the large number of disabled people like myself for whom our body pain is chronic & has nothing to do with recent/temporary injury/surgery. this may be all the yoga i can manage for the rest of my life, not just a few months, & that's okay!
+Cecilia Wachter Lauren here - Agree, that's totally okay, Cecilia! And so glad to hear you keep practicing and stay active and healthy :). I just spoke that way because I was teaching from my personal experience with this yoga flow, but I'll keep your suggestions in mind for any future videos :). Thanks for watching!
Namaste. It has been months of daily pain, swelling, surgery, physical therapy and pure exhaustion! I wish I had found this video a long time ago. Torn meniscus and dislocated patella which has caused firing pain in my hips, swelling down my leg into my ankles. Some days my ankles are so swollen I can not put on (or take off) my shoes. This of course has also caused sleep problems as well. This has brought my spirit down and some days it feels better to just do nothing. I am very active person and the sluggish habits that this injury has caused frighten me. I am finally at the point where I am feeling well enough that I want to exercise on my own again. These exercises are exactly what I need! Thank you. I want to hug you right now!!!!
I'm so glad to hear this! I can say from experience that a dislocated patella suuuucks!! Sorry to hear you're having to go through this too, but glad you find this practice helpful. Also be sure to check out some of our meditation videos, as well as my intro to breathing and chair yoga videos, all of which you can do either on the floor, on a bed or in a chair 😀. And let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks SO much, Lauren. I've injured my knee and am waiting for surgery...you 'get' knee injury. I miss daily yoga practise and this is my go to daily practise. It really irons out all the aches from sitting and using crutches. THANKYOU!!!!xx
Wow, thank you so much for that amazing video! I am struggling with a knee cartillage inflammation at the moment, and this video helped me to go back to my yoga mat! Also, I find this flow really creative, and it didn't put any pressure on my knee at all! So, again, thanks a lot! :-)
I've been running for a while and have had some knee pain. I heard that yoga would be good for me, but it was hurting too. I really enjoyed doing this today because during and after, I was not in pain. Thank you. You are so peaceful, you made me so calm!
I've tried other videos for knee injuries but this is by far the best I've come across. You have a wonderful understanding of what's possible and yet challenging. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.
Thank you for the insightful Sun Salute with modifications! I enjoyed the practice at a time when my routine practice was physically out of reach. Wonderfully creative! Namaste!
Wow wow wow! Thanks for sharing this knowledge. I've been dealing with knee pain all this year and as a teacher I was starting to doubt myself and practice and what I'm doing.. I love how compassionate and gentle your approach is, and how accommodating the sequence is. Very creative. Reminds me how the practice should serve the body and not otherwise. Thanks again, looking forward to trying this again tomorrow!
What a great practice! One of the very few I found on youtube that fully understands the limitations that knee injuries bring about! I recently tore my ACL so movement on the knee is very restricted and this practice really brought me back to my body. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I'm going in for a total knee replacement in five days and I've been doing your video this week to help me prepare. Doing this practice with you encourages and strengthens my spirit. Namaste
Thank you so much for this video! I cannot find any other video that helps immediately after knee surgeries. This is my 2nd torn ACL and this time I also had a complex meniscus tear on my left leg. They used the patellar tendon to repair my ACL but took it out of my good knee, so I now have 2 bad knees and only just switched from a walker to crutches a few days ago. This video really helps make me feel like I can still have a yoga practice in my life for the next month while still on crutches. Thank you so much!
lauryn nelson That sounds so painful, sorry to hear it! Glad this helped. I can't say enough how much this type of practice saved my sanity during my recovery from knee surgery too! Good luck on the recovery and keep practicing. In other news, going to release another yoga for injuries/disability video soon, using chair yoga, that's another GREAT practice for while on crutches/recovering :)
I know this video was made a few years ago, but I'm so glad it's still here. I shattered my kneecap last year and this is the only yoga workout I've been able to do after surgery and 3 months in a cast. I also have fibromyalgia, so this is a great morning workout to help with aches and stiffness. Thanks for making this modified workout!
Thank you for this yoga lesson. I had a total knee replacement about a year ago so most yoga positions are no longer an option for me. I am really happy to have found your video and hope you will post more of the same.
Love this! I've been searching for something like this for my knee and ankle. It looks challenging enough but doable enough too. Great examples, great session. Thank you.
So this was my first yoga practice after blowing my knee ACL and meniscus. Was so tight and sore from NOT doing yoga for 2 weeks. Worse than the knee pain. Almost crying at relief to be back on the mat. Thank you for this emotionally healing start.
Thank you for creating this. I've loved yoga for years and am 5 weeks post total knee replacement. I've been hungry to move and stretch and now, with the guidance of this video, I can.
Thank you this was enlightening and a great gentle yoga session. I can do a lot more with my knee now apart from sit with my knee bent under my body (kneeling) or cross legged. Are there any more videos to help with this?
Healing from a broken distal femur and this practice was incredible. I have been feeling very defeated the last 10 months as I am finally starting to get some mobility back. Thank you for sharing this for those of us who cannot do a regular flow yet. Gratitude 🙏
+Laidatu So grateful to have the opportunity to share this practice with you and wishing you the best with your recovery. Comments like these really help inspire me to keep sharing the practice, so thanks for sharing your kind words!
Wonderful video thought my days of Yoga were over !! Please keep good work up really good stretches and postures without straining knees. Can you suggest anymore? I also have gastric reflx
+Susanne Newton So glad this helped you! Feel free to check out any of the videos on our channel and see if any resonate with you. You're welcome to check out my complete beginners series, which is also good for just stabilizing and gently engaging with yoga postures, not just for beginners :). Meditation and breathing videos can be great for helping your body relax too, which can in turn help provide relief for upset/gassy tummies and overworked digestive systems. Stress can really mess up our digestion, so really any video you find that can help you reduce your stress should (hopefully!) help your digestion as well! Give some a try and let me know what you think.
Awesome video, exactly what I've been needing! A torn meniscus has left me pretty unable to perform yoga but i love the adaptations of sun salutations and trikonasana, very easy and beneficial! Keep up these good videos and thanks for sharing. :)
I have had bilateral knee replacements so cannot do a lot of poses (table, deep lunges, etc). This is the first video I have found showing modifications. I truly appreciate it and enjoyed learning the modifications. I would like to see more yoga videos that incorporate variations for those that have had joint replacements. Thank you.
Thank you for this video, I have always suffered from knee pain and this practice really helped to gently warm my body and relax my knees at the same time. Lovely video, thank you again.
Thank you so much Lauren for doing this video and hopefully many more to come. I have a stretched ACL and my knees are weak so this makes the strengthening process a lot easier. I would love to see a morning yoga video with alternative poses.
I realise this is a very old video but it’s the only one I could find which was inventive, creative and took all the pressure off my damaged knee!! Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I am not a normal practitioner of Yoga but I've been directed to try some rehab/injury Yoga and this was a help. I will definitely continue using this as I recover from my ACL reconstruction and Meniscus tear.
Thank you! I took a chance and searched for a workout to do while I'm recovering from a bad injury. This is so great! I really appreciate you and what you've done here. : )
I REALLY appreciated your variations! Been fighting arthritic joints on my healing journey and I felt like I accomplished a small-impossible because of getting through this video, when usually the pain is too much and exercising is out of reach. Thank you!
thank you so much for this. i was truly missing my yoga practice after knee arthroscopy 3weeks ago and your video is a great help. a video on gentle returning to full practice would be great as well as how to modify the various knee-challenging seated poses after knee surgery. with great appreciation, love and blessings
Dear Lauren - Thank you for this video! I am 9 weeks post knee replacement surgery #2 (first one in February). I had my last physical therapy appointment today, and was looking for online strengthening exercises and found your video. My yoga mat arrives sometime today, and I am keen on starting to do your modified yoga program!
I know this video is old but I wanted to comment and request anyway. I have a possible torn meniscus and have to be gentle on my knees. I was disappointed because i thought I’d have to give up yoga and working out. I’ve also struggled to find yoga videos that would be easy on the knees. So I was very happy to find this video. If at all possible, please make more knee friendly, or injury friendly, videos. Love em.
Thank you so much for putting this on. I've torn the ligaments in my left knee and sprained my right ankle. I was dispairing that I wouldn't be able to do yoga for 6 months. Just gone through your practise using a cushion and no pain. Very happy. I love my yoga.
I started this workout because of a MCL injury. This is the BEST LOWER ABS WORKOUT. My pooch has been a problem area for a lot of years. I am nearly flat. I'm shocked and so very grateful. Thank you Lauren. Namaste
I love yoga and am so happy to return to daily practice four weeks post knee replacement surgery with this video. I can do all of it without strain on my knee and without risk of twisting or pivoting movements that are still painful.. thank you!
I have to say I got ACL reconstructive surgery last Tuesday, and had my meniscus tear cut away. I started this video on Thursday and couldn't do much involving my right leg. And today, ahhhh exciting moment on recovery journey!! I've been getting increased bend in my knee, but the most struggling part is I haven't been able to lift my heel off the floor with out some sort of assistance since surgery. Yoday I was doing this video and for the first time my leg lifted and as the workout progressed I got it to go straight into the air, and pretty much did the entire practice yaaay!
+Tiara Hairston this is awesome to hear! It takes time for our muscles to regain strength and recover, and kudos to YOU for having the patience and perseverance to keep practicing! Hope your knee feels better soon :)
This is such a great video. Thank you for giving me hope! I've had 6 knee surgeries and now they want to replace the knee all together. I was always a very active person and my spirit has been broken... until now! After doing your video, I felt wonderful inside and out! Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much Lauren! This was exactly what I needed with my knee injury and restrictions. I love the way you give constant reminders to honor the body in its current condition. I'd love to see more!

Kim McDaniel thanks for your kind words, yes Lauren has a special spot in her heart for people who need yoga but may have experienced an injury :D

This is also great for alignment. Triangle pose on the floor really forces that "between 2 sheets of glass" posture. Fabulous!

That was brilliant. Loved that you can still do all the regular poses just lying down instead. Didn't think this was possible.
That's exactly what I said when I was filming this with Lauren! :D
I have been looking and asking everywhere for yoga for knee hurt people!!! THANK YOU for this
I've been searching for a yoga routine that accommodated my post surgery knee.
Totally love the supine Sun Salutation. I work with a lot of seniors, so this would be beneficial for them. Thank you for sharing. Namaste.
Excellent video! Recovering from knee surgery and I feel I got my workout today! Great pace and I love the modified poses! Great for me to use in the future as a yoga teacher! Many thanks!
This is a lovely, clear video with lots of tips to keep someone with knee injury active. Thank you.
Brilliant absolutely brilliant - brought me tears at the end - THANK YOU !!!!!
I've been watching this everyday... Life saver after my osteochondroma surgery on my right tibia. Thank you for developing this sequence for yogis craving for the mat after knee surgery, Lauren. And thank you Yoga TX for making this unique video!
Great practice for knee injury. Thank you for sharing the modifications, there is so much more we can do
Lauren, you are so creative.
Thank you for offering this yoga session for knee pain. It was great, very helpful and enjoyable.
i really love this video! i have fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, & chronic tendonitis & on days when my pain level is intense, this is a great way to still get my body moving & engaged. i would love to see the injury-specific language modified to be inclusive of the large number of disabled people like myself for whom our body pain is chronic & has nothing to do with recent/temporary injury/surgery. this may be all the yoga i can manage for the rest of my life, not just a few months, & that's okay!
Thank you Lauren for the great yoga video for knee pain. It is great to be able to do Yoga again. x
Thank you so much for creating this video. Having had ACL surgery seven weeks ago, this is such a balm for the soul and body 🙏
Awesome!
Awesome routine, gentle, putting no pressure on the knees and wrists, Thank you for helping us in our recovery!
Just what I needed as I'm recovering from a sprained knee. More please!
Loved these options on classic poses. Please more videos! Thx
This was wonderful. I have been missing my yoga since my injury. Wish I had found you sooner!
Thank you.
I really enjoy this video! It helps when my knee acts up but i can still do yoga. Thank you, Lauren!
Gratitude 🙏
Thank you! A wonderful video by someone who understands knee injuries! Loved it!
This was an incredibly welcome perspective for home practice with knee injuries. Thank you!
This was the best ever. It's given yoga back to me.
Great class. I really appreciate that there was no pressure on the patellas. Great core work too!
Awesome video, exactly what I've been needing! A torn meniscus has left me pretty unable to perform yoga but i love the adaptations of sun salutations and trikonasana, very easy and beneficial! Keep up these good videos and thanks for sharing. :)
Thank you Thank you Thank you. I really needed this right now, I have needed something I could do and I CAN do this Thank you!
thank you lauren, you helped lift my spirits and now i can see hope for an active future after my injury.
Thank you.
+Cathy Bloniarz We'll work on it for sure! Thanks for watching and for sharing your kind words :)
Loved the 'knee/leg injury' video - thanks so much Lauren :)
Thank you so much! This practice is really great. Looking forward to seeing your other flows.
This was so good. I have many students with knee issues, replacements and these modifications were excellent! Thank you
I started this workout because of a MCL injury. This is the BEST LOWER ABS WORKOUT. My pooch has been a problem area for a lot of years. I am nearly flat. I'm shocked and so very grateful. Thank you Lauren. Namaste
terrific class. Great modification suggestions. Thank you!
+brownieb1208 Our pleasure entirely. I'll make sure Lauren gets to see your kind words :D
Thank you so much Lauren! This was exactly what I needed with my knee injury and restrictions. I love the way you give constant reminders to honor the body in its current condition. I'd love to see more!
