what this video proves is that "there's no replacement for displacement" guys. Suzuki also runs different gear ratio so you can prop the motor to give you better holeshot and better top speed. Suzuki doesn't need a supercharger, they have variable valve timing. Too many people brainwashed by Mercury.
Well, then there is a replacement for displacement because you have 50 less horsepower and a variable valve timing mechanism/system that is super seeding the extra 50 hp on the mercury
As a 400 Verado owner that just recently blew up, I can certainly say I went to a 350 Suzuki and it’s just as fast top end and even faster out of the hole. Very impressed with my new Suzuki. Also, single prop.
With 12 to 1 compression and duo prop, Suzuki clearly leading the innovation in outboards. I'd be interested to see the torque numbers for the Sizuki. I'm guessing they are higher than the 400 verado
This video proves nothing. A duo prop will Always beat a single prop out of the hole. Ski boats have been using duo props for years to quickly get on plan. It lacks top end speed though. The 400 verado was catching up to it and will over take it. I love morons who post DAVs. BTW I’m a Suzuki outboard fan but it will never outrun a mercury 400 verado or 400r stop being stupid. Also whoever had the comment there’s no replacement for displacement they’re both 6 cylinder engines DA
@Noah Shegrud the L6 400R was supercharged. Standard 400 or 400R, either way a suzuki 350 os not winning that race. It obviously took the hole shot due to its dual prop, but clearly you could see the Verado catching it quickly before they got off the throttle
Proving that a naturally aspirated motor w/ 50 less h.p. kicked the living crap out of a supercharged motor w/ 50 more h.p. Also the Suz has a manual jack plate that is not dialed in completely vs the Merc w/ a hydraulic one so top speed should be neck-n-neck.
@@daveleaf2250 So you are comparing apples and oranges? The Suzuki has duoprop ... @@gislehildershavn399 It does not in fact use more fuel. At WOT, (6200-6800 RPM) the Verado uses 38 GPH where the Suzuki at WOT (5700-6300 RPM) uses 29 GPH. What were you getting at?

AGREE 100 %......Mercury is a clump of headaches
Legend says, after this race, Mercury is back in for repairs.
And, it's still waiting on parts a year later!@@AnnexF

guy with the suzuki is so smart he made the right choice in motor those 350 duo props are the best way to go

Wow! Suzuki!!
There is a replacement for displacement as you contradicted. It’s called variable valve timing, a dual prop, and a nasty gear reduction.🤦♂️
That supercharger sound 😍
sounds like last place

As a Suzuki fan and owner, this is garbage. Theres no faster engine on the water than the L6 Verado. Especially a 350 vs a 400R. Sorry, pal
It's not a 400R, its the supercharged 400 verado. And the Suzuki spanked it... Not sure what "garbage" you're referring to...
